Sometimes you forget that dentist's are like, SUPER interesting people. It was my first time here and I came for a routine check in and cleaning. Right away, I was greeted with a great smile. The lady at the front desk was clearly busy, but that didn't stop her from being attentive and friendly. Lovely welcome desk. As soon as I'm called back, I'm greeted by another friendly smile ( I believe "Maria"), and she tells me that she will be the one taking care of my X-Rays and photos. She was eager to chat, and even gave me some really interesting insight into their new camera system. Another lovely person. I'm then greeted by the lady who will be doing my cleaning, as well as Dr. Amethyst Schlecht. Dr. Amethyst Schlecht is very well spoken and engaging. She had a knowledgeable answer for every question, and never made me feel uncomfortable. Her inspection was quick but thorough, and I walked away feeling like the visit was comprehensive. The female dentist who did my cleaning (I'm bad with names, sorry!) was extremely friendly and equally as knowledgeable. I hadn't been to the dentist in years, so she really needed to put some work into the cleaning. However, she managed to keep it comfortable and basically pain free--other than the usual tugging and poking that is necessary. I think my favorite part was how everyone seemed super happy and eager to share knowledge with me. Every question was met with an answer. They will tell you one thing a month or two prior (as I had to "wait for the specialist" and my schedule), then show up for a crown in my file, with the specialist to look at my tooth (15 minutes after my appointment time), but I couldn't get a crown as he recommended I need a root canal, she (Dr. Amethyst) recommended I should do a root canal or replacement/fake tooth at $1500+. I took a day off work to make the appointment (to have a crown) but Dr. Amethyst didn't even remember me (READ MY FILE) probably worried about making more money to support her son going to OU (Oklahoma University) to play golf and her last minute flight planes to watch him play (yes I am in the business to remember people). The people in the office are awesome, like Rochelle that assisted me today when I paid my tab to leave. Good Luck to Dr. Rice and his practice. I won't be back! Absolutely the worst experience I've ever had with a dentist office - good luck if you ever need to reschedule of have a question. The hygienists are clearly not well-trained and seem rushed and careless. The dentist's themselves are dismissive, barely spending any time with you. It's obvious this place is only interested in your money, not your health. I wouldn't trust them with a cleaning, let alone anything more serious. Avoid at all costs. read more

Dr. Ishaya is awesome! I had to have two silver fillings replaced. They were decades, old, and I was skeptical about replacing them. I had had sensitivity issues in the past with composite fillings. After having both silver fillings replaced with composite fillings, sure enough, both teeth became super sensitive. I was upset about the sensitivity, but Dr. Ishaya re-did the fillings at no charge and fixed my sensitivity. Thank you so much Dr. Ishaya! Whatever you did, worked!! read more

After not being to the dentist for four years, me and my husband decided to become new patients here. Upon our first day, to our most recent visits, I have been just pleasantly surprised over and over again at how polite, thorough and communicative everyone is here. If something isn't right, they're more than willing to fix the problem. If you have any questions, they right there to answer them enthusiastically. Their building is in a convenient location, the facility is very clean and spacious. All of the staff are helpful and very friendly which is a huge plus. My doctor is absolutely amazing and extremely patient with me and for that I'm so thankful. Thank you all for helping me, being so kind and always making me feel taken care of. My what beautiful teeth you have! When I first moved to the area for a job I began searching for a dentist. A few of my coworkers recommended Turlock Family Dentistry. Since I work in Turlock I decided to give them a try. I've trusted the care of my teeth to them ever since. The office is very clean, which is so important when you have someone's hands in your mouth. They have a fish tank in the waiting room. Very soothing. Each of the patient rooms has a huge window that is almost floor to ceiling. They all look out into a nice landscaped area complete with cute little bird houses so you can watch a few birds while you wait for the dentist. Every time I come in for an appointment, it seems they always have some new technology to improve patient care. Today I had an x-ray that took a panoramic x-ray of my teeth, including my jaw and part of my sinuses. Apparently my sinuses drop down rather low. That explains why I feel tooth discomfort whenever I have a sinus infection. Weird. All of the staff are very knowledgeable and professional. I love the way my teeth feel after a professional cleaning. Smile! read more

I asked about a basic payment plan if I were to pay out of pocket for something very expensive and the receptionists responds with "we offer 4..." all snazzy with an attitude....okay four what?!? Four installments?! Her response "yes." Girl what are you doing.... your response could use improvement. Try "yes we do! We offer up to 4 installments which may be flexible based on your down payment. Would you like to schedule a consultation?!" You can screen shot this for the next time you get that really difficult question about payment plans! Dentists are known to not have regulated pricing so I have every right to compare and contrast before I pay your 99 dollar consultation fee. You really just wanna make a quick 99 and would rather me spend 99 dollars for a basic answer to a question I could have had answered over the phone because this is the second time I've called and gotten hostile non helpful responses to basic questions. read more

She was amazing and I forget her coworker who assisted and she was also very nice. The Dr Amethyst was great as she always is!! Would recommend them to anyone. read more

Called them they told me about an appt for this Monday it would take an hour and it would be a cleaning exam and X-ray. Called back 1 min later they don't recall the conversation nor can they do all of that in one visit. Very sketchy that they can't find who the conversation happened with that someone gave false info as I was very specific with my questions and it was a few min conversation. Won't be visiting them as I don't like liars or when people say something then change it literally a min later. read more

I had to make 3 consecutive payments on a procedure. After the 2nd payment was processed, I paid a LARGE portion of the 3rd/ last installment there in office. This SHOULD have resulted in a much smaller amount being withdrawn from my account this month. I did this for many valid reasons. However, imagine my surprise when I was notified that the ENTIRE amount was still withdrawn. They are closed until Thursday (7/6/23). Thanks to someone's incompetence, our mortgage payment will be returned, impacting us drastically. I'm furious that something that should have been so simple to correct, has now created major problems for my family. I really hope that they're all thoroughly enjoying their time off and relaxing. It must be exhausting being incompetent. My next few days, however, will be spent doing damage control so we don't get penalized. Sorry if I sound bitter, I kind of am right now. Worst experience ever. Dr. Rice gave me a crown which was disastrous. Ended up having a crown lengthening which was performed by his associate Dr. Austin Schellinck. I won't be returning for any future visits because Dr. Austin Schellinck was a complete jerk to me. During the pre op visit he didn't seem to appreciate questions. My questions were very specific and based on his answers I decided to proceed. After the procedure and during my post op appointment, he flat out denied saying some of the things he said during my pre opt appointment. He was condescending and disrespectful. He doesn't like being questioned because he's full of himself. He has a lot to learn. I reminded him how I was paying for the visit, not the other way around. I left. No apology, nothing. Dentists offices are everywhere and so I choose another. If you like being disrespected and treated like you don't matter, go there. Otherwise stay clear if this place. read more

Dr Rice treats his practice more like an investment business and less like a FAMILY dental office. Worst experience with Invisalign. The front desk staff and hygienist are great. But unfortunately won't be coming back with the way the practice is ran. They don't not care to convince their patients AT ALL. read more

Let me start of by saying I'm not a big fan of dentists. I know I'm not alone in that. I however was very impressed. Anna (front desk). Was very pleasant. Then there was Amy. Super nice. She gave me a general tour and explained everything that was going to be done. She did all of the digital X-rays and the digital mouth mold ( not sure what it's really called). Then Suzette came and did a cleaning. She also was extremely professional and pleasant to talk to. Dr. Rice then came in, introduced himself, did a quick exam and explained a few things. Lastly was Stephanie. She was the one that set up the pricing and options. She was extremely thorough and made sure that I understood everything. Cost depends on insurance but I can say my copays were much lower here then in the past at other dentists. My experience at Turlock family dental has been by far the best dentist visit yet. As great as the staff and facility is, it's still the dentist so I can't say I look forward to going back. However it's less agonizing knowing I'll be going there. I suggest switching dentists if you can. The whole office staff and dental staff are awesome. read more

Before I write this review, I first want to say that I respect this facility, the staff, and the work they do. But I won't be going back. I had a crown done at Turlock Family Dentistry. Per their recommendation, it was best done sooner than later, otherwise my tooth would need a root canal down the road. To avoid that pain, I preemptively accepted to get my crown done. Little did I know how much pain and frustration the operation would cost me. The crown was poorly done. The crown was much higher than the rest of the teeth, causing an unbearable, throbbing pain each time I chewed any food. Furthermore, a gap was left between the crown and the molar behind it. This resulted in food constantly getting stuck in between my teeth and creating a bacteria-infested haven (this also caused muscle tissue around the tooth to begin deteriorating). Of course, I didn't find that out until later down the road, because two months after the operation was done and the pain progressed, I went back and they told me nothing was wrong. "Rinse with warm salt water for two weeks and you'll be fine", they said. This turned out to be entirely false. Eight months later I finally decided that the pain was enough. I visited another dentist to see if my crown was okay and they found two major problems (that I mentioned earlier) that Turlock Family Dentistry's professional procedures failed to find. Within two weeks, my other dentist fixed my crown and the pain went away completely. I respect Turlock Family Dentistry and they have a great facility but I would encourage them to review and improve their procedures when it comes to installing new crowns for patients. read more

Everyone in the office is professional and knowledgeable. They were excellent with my kids by showing them exactly what they were going to do and letting them feel the tools before going to work. When it was my turn, they took every care to make sure I was comfortable and aware of what they were doing. I look forward to visiting again at the new facility soon. read more

I didn't feel as though they cared about my time, and I also felt that the dental assistant didn't have good bedside manner, and was kind of rude. I was on a time constraint, and they made me wait 10 min in the waiting room, and another 10 in the chair before they even started on me. It should be about what the patient requests, and should have a right to opt out of any service, but felt they kept pushing me into something I didn't want to do. Also, I didn't want to make a followup appt at the time, and felt pushed into making one, even though I stated 3 times I didn't want to. read more

My wife and began going to TFD about 4 years ago. We are thrilled with the service we get. We moved our children from their pediatric dentist to TFD because they were so much better with them and the kids loved everyone there. Dr Rice has assembled a fantastic team. This is a very mixed review. The actual DENTAL team is great. I LOVE the dentist I've seen. He is funny and caring. The hygienists are always kind, courteous and great at their job. My issue is the front staff. They're extremely pushy, condescending and indifferent. I tried to cancel my appointment THREE times. Once because I had a disappointing problem with privacy (didn't cancel my appointment, to my surprise, because I got a reminder email). Tried again to cancel but was given a plethora of excuses as to why I can't. Today the appointment came and I told her point blank that I do not have the money right now. But more excuses followed. No, I'm not comfortable leaving you with my credit card number, to use at your discretion on my account. I told her I'm pretty sure it's just not going to work out today. "But she scheduled an hour and a half for you. So call us back". I'm sorry, I've tried to give you adequate time to cancel so you can fit others in, but at this point I quit. I won't be returning, unfortunately. I did enjoy the medical side, but the receptionists are killing it for me. :( Also, not the best place to choose if you don't like solicitation calls. When I don't have appointments scheduled they're calling me every month or so trying to schedule things. Too pushy for me. read more
