I was recently considering a stay at a Vacasa property but the cleaning fee for 2 days was more than the stay itself. After repeated attempts to understand why this was so--the responses I got didn't address my question at all--I decided to abandon the idea. I've had this same experience with other Vacasa properties where I booked what I thought was a fair price, only to find out about the exorbitant cleaning fees later. Caveat Emptor! read more

If I could give negative stars about my experience with TurnKey I would. I responded everyday to the email regarding the level of satisfaction on the cleaning of the place we rented, but heard nothing. The amount of money I paid for this place was the same cost as Sheraton Waikiki in Hawaii. We cancelled Hawaii to come to Big Bear. This is the most disgusting place I have ever paid for. The kitchen utensils were a filthy mess, full of grease, dog feces all over outside, black scuff marks on the walls, animal hair all over, blankets filthy and full of hair, floors full of debris, my socks are black from waking around on the tile floor, kitchen table bench full of hair and debris, ants on the floor of the kitchen, black ants, stains all over the couches, the jacuzzi has floating particles of grey filth and discoloration with a haze to it, I can go on and on about this. I am appalled that Marriott would sub out places that cost this amount of money for what you walk into. There are bugs flying all over inside the house, spiders climbing the sink, what looks like blood in the kitchen sink. I have bug bites on me, my shoulder specifically. The cutting board that pulls out from the counter was full of old, dried food. The 2 other bedrooms weren't used. I had zero cell service the time we were here. I was told to email or text in which I did both daily, sometimes multiple times a day, and got no response ever! I am absolutely disgusted and disappointed in our first experience renting a home that online looks sparkling clean and amazing. It's anything but that. I should never have to come into someone else's home and clean the way I did. It's troubling that cleaning fees are mandatory and I was forced to pay for someone to clean when they clearly did not. Another issue is the pet fee. I never brought pets, I was charged $100 for a dog, someone called and told me that they're charging an additional $100 because 2 bedroom plus homes are $200 for animals. Those funds have never been credited back to my AMEX. Please note the couches and house FULL of animal hair, especially around the TV area on the floor and the couches. Another issue-billing. I had (3) representatives from TurnKey tell me that I should've only been charged $2,000 for a 5 day stay when my AMEX card was charged $2,443.24. The photos speak for themselves. Today I was in the doctors office having confirmation that the multiple bites on myself and my husband are confirmed from 'bed bugs'. TurnKey is willing to refund $2,000 and consider this case closed. I'm glad I write reviews for companies because once I calm down to articulate my words a bit better and more thought out, I'll be posting my review with all the photos. I sent the photos attached herein to a manager and she thought the jacuzzi filter photos was the dishwasher filter. She was floored when I explained each photo to her. ABSOLUTELY HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE Turnkey Vacation Rentals requires reservation holder to register every single guest on their portal. Upon arrival, the guard did not have the list of our guest names and would not allow my guests to enter. Dealing with this company has been a headache from the beginning, as due to our work schedule my wife would have arrived earlier at the property than me and Turnkey Vacation Rentals rejected my request to register her as a secondary reservation holder. The level of customer service and flexibility to provide a smooth path to a short vacation was horrible and absolutely unacceptable. Their responses are mostly canned automated responses that do not offer any help or solution. Don't book with Turnkey. First: just scroll through the reviews to see the overwhelming number of 1 stars. That alone should be a red flag. Second: They book through AirBnB and Vacasa - so be aware of that when you're booking on other platforms. Third: This company doesn't care about the health and safety of its guests. The states of their homes are often in disarray and are dirty. Additionally, they do not offer refunds even for extenuating circumstances. We recently booked in California where a wildfire broke out and even though the cabin was in an evacuation zone, and the AQI (air quality index) of the area was in the 800s, we were told that we needed to use the cabin or eat the cost. Using the cabin would have meant that our entire family would be entering into lodging in an evacuation zone from a raging forest fire. read more

I took my children on a much-needed vacation to Big Bear and stayed in a Turnkey property. I visited their office in the village to get the keys and directions to check in. The place was very nice and the decor was beautiful. However the driveway had not been scraped and was packed with about 1/2 foot of ice- the only place to park was in the driveway- I slipped and fell on the ice and it ruined the vacation- the issue is they did not care. They said they put all the supplies we needed to scrape the driveway- so they expected us to arrive for our vacation and scrape the driveway? I guess so. They did not even offer me a discount to return. We missed 2 days of snow play which we had paid for already because of it. By the way, the supplies were locked in the garage and it was not accessible to us. So there was no way- though had we been able to scrape the driveway, it would have been a day's work! Turnkey knowingly ruined the Memorial Weekend vacation and endangered me, my wife and two other couples we vacation with regularly. Here's the list of problems that could have maimed or killed some or all of our party and the inept, disinterested way each issue was mishandled: A. Gas Stove--leaked gas the first morning so strongly when the oven was turned on that it would make your eyes water. It was reported immediately at breakfast. We were originally told we should stop using the oven during our stay. After getting firm on the phone, Amerigas arrived that evening to test the system. After inspection the system he removed the foil liner the cleaning crew had placed in the bottom of the oven. He said this was the third time he would be warning Turnkey that the foil blocks the escape vent for excess gas which could then be ignited by the gas burners on the stove top resulting in an explosion. B. AC Issue--The bedroom at the end of the hall has no air flow from the AC vent. This was summer and the temp in this bedroom exceeded 90 degrees during the day and 80 at night. Sleeping comfortably in this heat was impossible. We placed three floor fans in the hall to move colder air down the hallway, but this couple had to sleep with their door open or suffer for three nights. They did send an AC tech it but he said it is impossible to even check the duct because shelves had been built in the access closet and the attic was unreachable. Complained all four days...no effective response. C. Poor Cleanliness--The tile floor was so filthy walking across it barefoot would completely blacken the bottom of our feet. We were so freaked out by the filthy floor we ended up washing all the dishes before using them. Gross.. Complained for four days...no response. D. Dangerous Pool Deck--the tiny waterfall had fishing lures thrown in it and was powered by a partially buried extension cord plugged in near the edge of the pool. Water splashed on this can electrocute pool users. Complained about for 4 days...no response. E. Disgusting Pool Deck Furniture--love seat set so covered with mold no one would use it. Complained about for 4 days...no response. There were several other odds and ends like the broken tiles on the pool deck and the wall unit AC in the master bedroom that freezes the room. We sent 15-20 photos to Turnkey and had no less than 25 interactions vis text and calls. We always got the sames.personap canned responses of concern, but no supervisor ever called. No real solutions ever were presented and now they've insulted the heck out of us offering a $150 credit...$25 per person...for a $1600 weekend. Terrible company to work with. I wish I could say that I had a fabulous trip but this was by far worst Airbnb experience since 2017. If the owner or Turnkey would have handled this in a manner where they valued your customer experience, time and money then the review would reflect differently. Rented a house in Palm Springs, Ca. Upon arrival the A/C would not work; would not go below 80 degrees. Called Turnkey for help. Soonest could have someone come out was 9:30-11 pm at night which we were not comfortable with having someone there that late at night. So we had to go to Lowes to buy a fan. Magically the A/C began to work hours later as if someone had remotely taken off the master controls and set schedule or override. The Hot Tub was a hue of green on the bottom from not being cleaned. Needless to say did not get in it. The Pool/Spa lights did not work. Again called Turnkey and put in a work order request. Before pool lights issues were fixed we had a kitchen sink flooding issue which we tried to make dinner. Again called Turnkey for yet another work order request. Still at this point not one representative from Turnkey bothered to physically come to the property, personally call with an apology or since or this being an urgent mater to show any ounce of remorse for all the issues been dealing with since our arrival. Finally the pool man shows up 7-8 pm to let us know its a faulty switch and had to get approval before could come back and replace it. Which never got replaced while we were there. So they never completed fixing that issue. And we never received a call from Turnkey asking if that issue was resolved and addressed. So again no follow through from Turnkey just like with the A/C. Get an update about the plumbing the soonest a plumber could be out would not be until after 11:30 pm at night. Once again not acceptable with us. This is our vacation which we had already waited for a pool man to come by since 8am now they want us to stay awake and let some strange man come into the house that late at night and be there for who knows how long to repair it??? Evidently this is acceptable behavior to Turnkey and the owner for the guest to have to accommodate this type of inconvenience and unprofessional behavior. I have never encountered a company where they expect and make it feel as if it is the customer's fault an issue isn't resolved because I do not find it professional or acceptable to have a unannounced, unaffiliated vendor come to the house that late at night. We asked for late check out since we really had not been able to enjoy our time as we had hopped and the request was denied. Really?!? After all we had gone through? This place already had a later check in and early check out then most rentals. I requested for management to contact us several difference times throughout our stay which never happened. When I returned home I had to call and demand to speak with manager. When finally spoke with the manager Kim she was the worst employee I had dealt with with Turnkey. And I had dealt with a number of different employees over the course of 5 days trying to get this resolved. It was clear that they do not pride themselves on customer service or experience. After all this the compensation for my inconveniences was worth to them $55.00. I spent over $1300 on a rental with a $225 cleaning fee with numerous issues and inconveniences with maintenance people coming ever day of the short weekend stay. $55 doesn't cover the cost of dinner had to order out since we had no working sink or the fan had to go buy to stay cool. Worst part of all I confirmed the owner was aware of this issue and didn't bother to reach out directly to us with an apology or anything. BEWARE!!! Our vacation was ruined We made reservations about four month ago for our Thanksgiving vacation at Myrtle Beach with a total of three couples. Then about a week ago, Turnkey called me and said that there was constructions in progress at the location where we were staying and told me at the last minute they needed to move us to another location. The new location had three rooms, but only two bathrooms. They did not offer any kind of deductions for the inconvenience, when we paid the full amount to get three bed and three bath. I called over six times to have them fixed the issued they created by not letting me know on time so i could look around for another place to stay with all the rooms and bathrooms need for the same price. NEVER book with Turnkey, this place is a complete scam, and I have no idea how they have not yet been shut down. I booked a cabin in Lake Tahoe, my reservation was cancelled two days before check-in. They would not refund my money, they gave me "credit" to use for future use. But here is where the scam comes in- you have to book the EXACT SAME PROPERTY- within 6 months and only one time. So I paid over $5K for Christmas time since that tends to be a more expensive time of the year, and I could only use my "credits" one time. After Christmas the prices drop and the exact property was no longer available so I would have to forfeit what I paid. I requested a refund since the terms of using the "Credits" are impossible. They told me they will give me a refund within 5 business days, after 5 business days passed they said they needed two weeks, and after two weeks they came back saying it cannot be done through the credit card (NO reason was given) and they can mail me a check. I thought that was extremely sketchy. I called my credit card company, and disputed the charges. My credit card company agreed with me, that this is odd to not refund the card used and insist on sending a check. If you provide your address they can make a FALSE claim that they are sending you payment, or pay you a much smaller amount, so that it would be impossible to dispute with the credit card companies. SO AVOID this place. read more

Had it not been my daughter's wedding which took over my time I would have stopped payment as soon as I walked through the door. I am a SuperHost and I have stayed as a guest in 30+ Airbnbs and this was, by far, the most "landlord from hell" experience I've ever had. The house is a 4/5, the landlord (TurnKey vacation rental) is a 0/5. I unfortunately failed to look them up on Yelp. A few of the things that happened to us in short: - we were told we had the option to check in a day early, since the house was empty and already cleaned. We were trying to avoid a crazy snow storm. We packed our car and our toddler, and as we were driving there we texted / called them to confirm, and after a 1+ hour wait they told us that they can't let us in (even if we were ok paying for the extra night, and even if the house is empty and cleaned) because they have a "policy that they need 24 hour notice" and that the previous customer support agent "had misspoken". No responsibility taken. We were forced to stay in a nearby hotel. The following day, the Winter Advisory was starting at 10am, check in was at 4pm. Again, the house is empty and clean, but they told us that there was absolutely no way to be let in early because that would violate "the contract". We knew we were going to get stuck in the storm(the house is uphill, and in a small street), so we knew our only option to make it to the house was to drive there before it started snowing and wait in the car in the driveway until we could check in at 4pm. Note that I'm pregnant... and we have a 2 year old... At this point we had spent 3-4 hours on the phone trying to reason with them (we were happy to pay extra, but it was clear that their agents follow "a script" and that they have no actual care or concern for the safety of their guests). We make it to the driveway, in the middle of the snowstorm. We sit in the car waiting. Then, magically, we get a message that we can actually check in at noon (so much for the "absolutely there is no way we can let you in early"). Unfortunate, the entry code doesn't work. It takes another 45 mins to figure this out (waiting times to talk to them or hear back from texts are super long). The house itself is ok. It probably used to be a great house, but it's run down. 2 burners not working. Mattress in master bedroom is sagging very heavily. Kitchen not equipped (no strainer, zero basics such as salt or oil). Temperature control upstairs doesn't seem to be working (it got super hot in the day even if fireplace and heat were off). Master bathroom does not have a heat source - you come out of the shower and you freeze. Hot tub was clean and functioning well. Wi-Fi was not working, and there is no cell reception for Verizon or T Mobile. There was a bit of signal with AT&T. We were without power for 2 days because of the snow storm. No candles in the house. They had a bunch of emergency lights, but - oh the irony - all without batteries. When I messaged / called the agency I was told that it was my responsibility to bring the batteries for emergency lights. After I insisted, they said that someone would come to the house to bring the batteries. Nobody ever came, nobody ever reached out. The trash bear box is broken (we had to open it with a screwdrivers). Once we did, we found 2 weeks old trash from a previous tenant. We had to keep the trash in the house. I reached out to them, they said they would come and fix it, nobody came. This landlord showed such little regard for the safety and well-being of my family, that it makes me never want to rent a place via Airbnb again. I complained to Airbnb but nothing could be done. We booked a rental through TurnKey Vacation Rentals in Napa, CA. The pictures online photographed a "luxury" property with a beautiful outdoor lounging area, pool and jacuzzi. The location reported it was ideal for wineries as well. Driving to the property was a huge challenge, up winding roads that are unsafe especially for non-locals. This was not mentioned in the description. When we arrived at the property it was evident that the property had not been visited in quite some time- there were leaves and brush all over the outdoor area, the hot tub was visibly untreated, cob webs all over the frame of the home. The outdoor space was completely unusable. When we were finally able to get inside (code to door was not working, we had to call multiple times for entry), the home smelled of cigarette smoke. There were spiders and spider webs everywhere, bugs in corners, and hair EVERYWHERE... all over the bathroom floor, shower, and all over the beds. The house had clearly not been cleaned and was completely unacceptable. When we refused to stay and showed TurnKey photo evidence, they refused to refund us and said they would have a cleaning crew perform a "deep clean". Why was this not done prior to our arrival? After much back and forth, TurnKey decided they would offer us a refund of about $1,500 ( our stay was over $4,600). Do NOT book with this company. They do not accurately portray their properties online and then refuse to correct their errors. It is also impossible to communicate efficiently with supervisors. They should have done the right thing and refunded us completely. Instead we were left paying for this property AND a hotel in Napa. read more

Stay away with rentals under this company. Their policy is strict and willing to compromise tenant's safety and health. We made a reservation for a vacation house in South Lake Tahoe earlier and found out there is local wildfire, although the fire seems under control, but first there is no guarantee the fire won't be back, secondly, my family member has asthma, which air quality could be an issue. They still don't allow us to change date. We book it via Airbnb, and they make excuse its Airbnb's responsibility, which is not...bad risk handling, management and greedy. read more

They should give us more than just a refund, they should give us an equal unit (which they claim they dont have avaiable) or a free week later. Beyond pissed! After driving from San Francisco and almost 30 minutes arrival to our destination in South Lake Tahoe, we receive a text message that our reservation was canceled. Not the day before or hours before, but 30 fucking minutes! we were in contact with these people the day before asking about how the shut down will affect our reservation and we were assured it would NOT be affected. We even received a text around noon the day of our reservation asking us to rate the cleanliness once we arrive. We traveled with 2 toddlers and 2 school age children and ended up arriving as it was getting dark and snowing harder. We asked for assistance and accommodations and received a text message at 10pm with local hotels. Our check in time was 4pm... did they just expect us to wait in the car orbit in the cold for 6 hours?!? All they could tell us was that Tahoe was shut down and due to COVID 19 they could not refund us our money!!! Funny how they said we could not stay yet Air BnB and hotels were still honoring reservations. I am completely dissatisfied with the resolution, a credit to be used at the same place by next year, as if COVID will be gone! Absolutely awful customer service. I contacted them hours after leaving the vacation home about a left wedding ring. I was contacted that night that it was located and in their possession. I have had to call for the past 2.5 weeks to get my wedding ring back. Not ONE time have I received a return call, I have had to continuously call and/or use different phones to get them to answer my calls. I have now been told the cleaning lady is still in possession of my property for the past 2.5 weeks and they have never had possession of my property, although I was originally told they had it. I continue to be pushed off advising they will have a supervisor call me, which has yet to happen. They have "made note" of each one of my calls, they have "pushed it to high priority" and still nothing has been taken care of. I would not suggest this company to anyone. Not only is their customer service terrible, but the home has blood stains in it, the bathroom sinks and cabinets were broken, there were stains on the couches and curtains. We were unable to get into our home until an hour after we were told to arrive and we did not even have them clean the pool area because it would have taken even longer! I would suggest that you NEVER rent a home managed by TurnKey unless you enjoy aggravation and the loss of hard-earned money. Months ago we leased a home in Big Bear, managed by Turnkey, for the months of July and August. Since the final payment is nearing it due date I visited the site to check the latest reviews. The last review was awful. The lessors stated that the place was filthy, infested with ants, windows could not lock, the spa so dirty it was not usable and on and on. I decided to look at older reviews and I noticed that there appeared to be a pattern to the complaint issues. This alarmed us, but we know that some people have very high expectations of the places they stay and perhaps they expected more than we do. Also, maybe they were not familiar with mountain cabins/cottages living. So I called Turnkey and told them of my concerns and requested that we be allowed to view the place prior to paying the outstanding balance. They said TurnKey's policy does not allow pre-check-in inspections., but they understand my concerns and would raise the issue higher. They NEVER responded, so I submitted the request in writing and told them we would come up to Big Bear at their convenience to do a walk-through. Their answer........ "We understand that you want to make arrangements to come and see the home. However, our owners do not allow tours of their homes. My apologies......." Well, this set off the red flags. What are they trying to hide? This was not a two-night reservation. It was a 60 day booking. We just got a really, really bad feeling and canceled our reservation at a loss of about $1, 400 dollars to the host and then the VRBO fees. I wrote again explaining how the red flags were up leaving us no choice but to cancel and that this is not how a reputable company operates. Horrible customer service - horrible house cleaning ! No one gets back to you from TK .. Regional managers are out to lunch and never call you back . 108 calle Patricia is a beautiful house - but was filthy - turnkey did nothing to remedy the dirt they left behind - we had to hire an independent maid- buy a mop - which they promised to deliver - they never did ! They promised to refund cleaning fee , because we had to scrub the toilets, mop the floors , and disinfect the entire house !!! COVID cleaning at this home ? absolutely not ! As soon as we checked into the condo rental we contacted Turnkey about the filth of this rental. We specifically rented from them because we used a filter on Marriott's homes and villas so that we may bring our dogs to the beach. It lead us to a rental in Myrtle Beach at the Baywatch Resort. We explained that the filth of this place was not due to one housekeeper but years of neglect. This was not a 1-2 hour turn around and we go somewhere with the dogs, this was a deep clean that required 1 to maybe possibly weeks. We asked for another condo to no avail. Basically we were shuffled around until we were told when we walked our dogs the 3rd day of our 4 day stay that Baywatch resort has a policy of no dogs from March to October. We would need to find another place for the dogs or to vacate. At this point, we went home. Told Turnkey all this information even screenshot where it says on Baywatch's website the very policy about dogs. They called us and told us that was a mistake and that we should turn around and go back. Yes, like we are going to turn around a drive another 4 hours to stay in filth and risk disease to check out the next morning at 10 am. These agents that work for Turnkey are skilled at just telling you that they are working on it, checking on it, discussing it with management. This is one of your modern day scams and the property owners who sign up with them should be ashamed of themselves. This condo is in tower 1 of the Baywatch resort #1705! Be wary! read more

If I could give negative stars I would I'm appalled at the way we were treated and the complete lack of empathy. We showed up to our cabin. Family of 6. For 5 nights. We shopped for all our food prior to the 4 hour drive to Tahoe from our home. Unfortunately it was a sad trip. We were going to celebrate our sons 22 bday although he passed this last December at the age of 21. Our cabin as we walked in had a stove/oven that was taken apart and not usable. When we tried to put the burners that we found in the garage back into the stove a family member was shocked. I called turnkey immediately and ask what was going on. They did provide an electric burner that looked extremely old and dangerous. And my son in law is a firefighter and states that in the state of California you cannot use those types of electric burners without proper ventilation and we definitely had no ventilation with the stove not working. A very long story short I spent 1500 feeding my family while in Tahoe. When we brought our own food to cook. I've had zero help from turn key or Air B&B. No understanding of our frustrations and treating us bad for wanting a working stove. At this point I'm sick of trying to make this right. I'm mourning the loss of my son and I don't have time to fight this. So completely dissatisfied with their customer service, not getting calls back for days. You both air b & b and turnkey should be absolutely ashamed of yourselves. read more

There are fires in Lake Tahoe with in a very close distance to the location I was renting. The air quality is horrible and it's dangerous to be there. I wanted to cancel my trip over a week before going and they've refused to refund any of my money and we're extremely rude to me about it. They're a snakey company that is more than happy to screw you out of your money, even when the trip is for a proposal. Useless 3rd party that steals from their customers. read more

We recently stayed at a Turnkey property in Wilmington, NC. It was ok. The 1 bedroom condo looked like the property in the pics, but I wasn't prepared for the stained (and I'm not talking juice stain) comforter on the bed and the fact that the condo didn't seem thoroughly swept and/or mopped. However since I travel with cleaning supplies (because I trust NO ONE), I was able to get it up to my specifications. There were sufficient towels/washcloths altho, we packed our own. There was also a washer/dryer combo in the condo so that was convenient. There wasn't a dishwasher which wasn't a big deal. Guests are but when the responsible for washing the dishes before leaving. Previous guests did a piss poor job... That comforter, I mentioned, set by the door for the staff to come and get it. I did call in my issues and they did supply us with new comforters, and said that since I had to clean, they would knock something off the price. Well I'm not holding my breath on that one. Also the bedroom bed had built in drawers which made this particular bed, very uncomfortable and it squeaked each time we moved. There was a pull out in the living area and we travel with a very durable and comfortable air bed when there aren't larger accommodations available to reserve. Reading some of the other reviews, here and on other forums regarding reservations being cancelled by Turnkey and no refund, is unacceptable. I had NO idea that was happening when I placed my reservation. The only reason I knew about them is through my Marriott membership. Wow!! I consider us lucky that that didn't happen in our case. I really hope all of you that are waiting for refunds are able up get them. As far as reserving another Turnkey property, I don't think I'll go down that road again. read more

WORST experience I have ever had. The house was sorely in disrepair and The company has been Unethical, unresponsive and untruthful from our first attempt to get assistance. My family traveled from all over the US and stayed in a large (very expensive!) home in S Lake Tahoe the week of the Caldor fire. Despite the fires, we kept the reservation. There were 10 of us and had brought right after arriving, due to two unusable ovens, no barbecue grill, and no way to cook the hundreds of dollars in food we brought. No ovens! In fact, the control panels for both were missing and there was exposed wire. there was no barbecue, so that was not an option. That is just the beginning. They should be ashamed. Despite multiple calls, getting hung up on, dropped calls, and being lied to, we did not get one call back. Hours and hours on the phone with this company and... no response or attempt to fix the ovens or compensate us for the missing ovens. read more

I do not write too many yelp reviews but I am compelled to write this one. We rented a place in Indian Wells, CA from Turnkey Properties. Riverside County where this property is located is under a state of emergency. We recently returned from infected corona virus countries in Asia one week prior to our stay at the Turnkey property. We first asked for flexibility to be able to change our dates since immigration asked us to self quarantine. I called everyday for 6 days to ask for some flexibility with their cancellation policy, but Turnkey staff was rude and totally inflexible doing nothing to help us out. Air b n B and Home Away have put out new flexible rules in dealing with this pandemic but this company has done nothing to address the issue and refuses to allow date changes when things are more safe. They are a horrible company and I would never use them again. read more

This is a horrible organization that does bait and switch on their customers and then failed to follow through with the agreed upon refund. it has been 2 months with no refund and they are no refusing to honor what they agree in writing trying to get me to agree to a smaller refund now that my stay is over. Awful. This is a company that has no compassion around COVID or the California fires. I had questions about our rental which was located in an area with an immediate public health threat due to the fires in Lake Tahoe and basically, they said "tough". I did not want a refund, just a chance to apply my $1,300. 00 to another weekend. This is not the case with other property management companies. This past spring, we used VRBO for a vacation rental in Catalina--we did not purchase trip insurance and they gave us a credit to use at another time. Also, the last time I used Turnkey service which was for Tahoe, also during COVID, the cleanliness upon arrival was awful. We had to take disinfectant wipes to everything. They don't even deserve one star. read more

Turnkey seems to be horrible on both sides. We signed a contract to list our home with them and that day everything changed. They started taking 3 days to return phone calls. They keep moving back the go live date and say nothing. it is now getting to the end of the summer and they just informed us it might be another 5-10 days. Given what I've heard, I will now be very vigilant with their cleaning etc. BTW: They insist that their homeowners sign a minimum one year contract with them. I was very wary, because the contract gives them WAY too much control. It sounds like they do whatever they want and then charge for it. read more

I work in hospitality, I have never experienced such terrible service in my life. I wish I would have seen all these horrible reviews prior. Over and over I contacted turnkey in an effort to resolve issues I had with the property; everytime I was told that a supervisor, 'resolutions rep,' or a someone from the 'local homecare team' would be in contact--no one has yet to contact me (it's been over a week). I have outreached turnkey no less than 20 times in an effort to resolve, and no one with authority has contacted me. To start, our rental in South Lake Tahoe had not been cleaned when we arrived. Due to a storm we came to the property on the 28th rather than the 26th. I understand that we did not purchase travelers Insurence (our credit card covers this) and would not be refunded for missed days, but to show up to a filthy home with a driveway that had not been plowed is unacceptable. I contacted turnkey at 9AM on the 28th to inform them I was en route to the property, at which time I was informed the driveway would be plowed. At 6PM I was contacted by an agent asking if I was still en route, at which time I confirmed I was about 2-4 hours away. Turnkey informed me that housekeeping was 15 minutes away at this time. At 8 PM and 9 PM I contacted turnkey to confirm the rental had been cleaned, but received to no response. At 9:30PM we arrived and found the driveway had not been plowed (all other homes on the block had been plowed) and the house had not been cleaned since the previous guest two days prior. We had to drag all of our food and luggage through two feet of snow to get to the property, clean the property ourselves with very little cleaning supplies, and disrupt neighbours at 10PM so we had a place to park our cars. I asked to speak to a supervisor at this time, and was told someone would call immediately. Via text I was informed I would receive a refund and that someone would plow first thing in the morning (no one came until 1PM). I understand there was a storm, but I should have been communicated prior to our stay. It's been a week and no one with authority has come in contact with me. The 24/7 line is a joke, I keep being told that someone will be contacting me ASAP and no one responds. I spent the remainder of the trip calling the line to no avail. All I wanted was to speak with someone regarding our refund, but each time I called the 24/7 line I was told no one was available to discuss. Over and over again they redirected me, told me no supervisor was available, and ensured I was a "priority" and someone would be contacting me ASAP. I was finally contacted regarding a $200 refund for cleaning from a basic rep (they stated they could not discuss why that number was chosen nor could they connect me with anyone qualified to distribute refunds) stating that someone from the local team would be in contact with me shortly on 12/30 (still no one has contacted me). $200 to have to clean an entire home, plow a driveway, and spend hours on the phone with customer service is a joke. I will never use turnkey again and will be posting in the BBB about turnkeys failure to communicate and provide contracted services. read more

Rented a spot in Malibu for my birthday and invited seven friends. We arrived and the sliding glass door would not close. Waves were high and water came in to the house. Called Turnkey and they sent to someone the next day to fix slider. The following morning all electricity in the kitchen did not work so we had to make coffee in the bathroom. Previous tenant had not taken garbage out so garage reeked of a weeks worth of garbage and the Internet didn't work. In the meantime the neighbor next-door continually filed complaints with Turnkey so each night we got a call from Turnkey saying we were making too much noise, which we were not. Said neighbor came out and took pictures of guys emptying garbage cans and also harassed us when we were trying to move our car. According to Turnkey this neighbor has complainedAbout several of their customers and this was nothing new. When I asked for compensation I was offered less than one night stay for a vacation that was continually punctuated with hassle. The rental was over $6000 and the amount of time spent on the phone with turnkey was ridiculous. I stated my case at least five times and by the last time for weeks later mind you, I was asked for a photograph or a video of the water coming in to the unit. This was absolutely ridiculous as we cleaned up the water immediately so we wouldn't slip and fall. I will never rent from Turnkey again and I hope that the owner of the Beautiful Malibu property will deal with their neighbor so that someone else's vacation isn't affected. read more
