The Horses The horses were all friendly with people and with each other - comically so in fact, for my husband the non-horser, who was impressed with his mount's ability to scratch his head on the rump of the horse ahead of him without tripping or retaliation from his 'scratching post.' Most of the horses go in hackamores (bitless bridles) and with natural bare feet (better for snow!) They were healthy, agile, and responsive (definitely not the resigned passenger vehicles one comes across in touristy areas.) The Sights Chugach State Park is gorgeous year-round! Amazing views to Anchorage and across the water. Megan is very familiar with the area and will tailor your ride to both the sights to see and the weather conditions. Additionally, the facility is located near the Alaska Zoo and the two activities will make a full day and build a serious appetite! The Folks Megan has lots of equine experience, is a bubbly fun tour guide, and will make you feel right at home in the saddle if you are a horse newbie (as my husband is.) If you are a more experienced rider, let Megan know, and she may have some extended or more advanced riding opportunities to offer. There are also English and Western lessons available if you want to brush up or live in the area. All in all I had a great experience and can't wait for my next visit to Alaska. For many years we had been loyal Alaska Club members but their are so EXPENSIVE! We're seniors so we checked out the Senior Center. While the Senior Center gym is pretty nice their hours of operation are very limited. So, we thought we'd give the YMCA a shot and we're so glad we did. It cost less than $65/month for unlimited access. We could pay one month at a time bring our grandchildren. They are open from early in the morning to pretty late at night. They always have at least 2 lanes open for lap swimming and their treadmills are solid, industrial models with cable TV screens. They provide 2 clean towels and a large locker with a lock for free and you can also reserve a small locker (you provide your own lock) if you want to leave you exercise shoes or toiletry. It is so unfortunate that we lived in Anchorage for many years and never considered using their facilities. Oh yeah, they are just about to open a brand new addition that sounds like it will be first class. Hint - their app really isn't worth using as they haven't figured out or assigned someone to really make it work or keep it updated.

Recently, I purchased up a new firearm with some "Gucci" accessories, and I just wanted to test how it handled and get back home quickly. Rabbit Creek was my only option, so--reluctantly--I went. Next to me was a group that looked like they were enjoying their first time at the range. When the RSO called a cease fire, they were a bit confused, fumbled around, and didn't raise their hands as expected. I braced myself, thinking, "Here we go--this RSO's going to throw their weight around." The RSO simply walked over and explained the procedure. They listened, understood, and complied. He did hang until the range was hot. It was a completely different vibe than what I remembered. Keep in mind there are some new firearm owners here. Be aware, help them if needed. Be a 2A friend.

This is my first time here but I think you likely get the whole room to yourself with the reservation - so note - if you are bringing your dog in hopes to meet other dogs, please be sure to contact owner Amy to see if that's an option. The entryway was well lit, clean and everyone was just ridiculously friendly and working so hard. Seating started at 5:30 and dozens of us were waiting, mingling and happy to be there. They had a bar area set up with beer and wine, so you were able to have a drink while you waited and for dinner. They moved us quickly into the dining room, seating tables of 6- 8 and it was so wonderful to mingle with others. We sat with two other couples and enjoyed chatting with them. We were served a lovely meal... baskets of piping hot fried mushrooms were served to each table, followed by salad with a tasty brie stuffed puff pastry, warm whole grain bread with butter, your choose of prime rib or salmon and fixings and topped off with your choice of chocolate cake, mango cake or cheesecake with cherries. We had the prime rib and it was cooked to a perfect medium rare! The volunteers worked so hard to serve all the tables, refill beverages and clean up! It was a wonderful evening and we'll definitely go back again! I'm looking forward to going by for lunch one of these days that I'm working from home... which has been highly recommended in the past. There are also a lot of activities offered and you don't have to be a senior citizen to join in... I think I'll join the knit witz group in the near future!

You can add more weight as you gain strength. Susan working here had one on as it so happened and consulted with us on ours! Our neighbor, nurse's 81 year old father wears one to keep his muscles strengthened so as he ages he will help prevent against the dreaded broken bones from slips and falls to brittle bones and folks with low muscle mass protecting those bones.
