After reviewing the plan, I tried communicating via email, but got no response even though he had requested this method himself. Finally, I called and got one of his co-workers who was a well-known local garden columnist. In discussing the project plan, it quickly became apparent that the owner had mislead me about doing the work in late Spring rather than Fall, especially the lawn renovation. I never heard from him again. Months later, the other owner/ brother was doing some work for my neighbor when he accosted me as I was leaving and started threatening that I LEGALLY had to have some additional work done on my yard for drainage and runoff. Despite telling him that I was working with his brother on a separate project plan, this man of moderate stature with a severe Napoleon's complex said that he could care less what his brother was doing. Upon leaving, I called my neighbor and relayed my experience. He could not believe it as he said he had just been out there and specifically told the brother/owner what he wanted and what he absolutely did not want, including making any modifications to my adjoining yard which they seemed to be doing regardless. My neighbor's work was eventually completed at great cost, and a few years later, much of the work has quickly fallen into varying degrees of disrepair.

I told James I wanted to remove the threat to my shed, but do as little damage possible to the tree. Other people tried to rip me off by claiming they'd have to cut WAY more than necessary, just so they could charge more. James, Emily & their son JJ did the job today. It took about an hour & was exactly as we discussed. And, aside from the fact that the shed roof is now visible lol, you'd never even know they were here. They hauled away all the cut limbs & didn't even leave tracks from backing the truck/trailer into my yard! I went with James because he knew his stuff, gave a fair price & just seemed like a good person. After meeting his family & seeing their work, I'm SO happy I followed my gut. I have bought their mixed Garden Soil from them for the past 2 growing seasons and have been pleased with the product both times. If I had bought this much bagged top soil and bagged compost from a big box store I'd have spent at least twice as much and then I'd have to mix it myself. The Mulch Yard not only offers soil but also different types of gravel and of course, different types of mulches. The owners are friendly and are happy to answer any questions that you may have.

About a year and a half ago we called on ward brothers to help us with a septic issue. We have…read moreseptic running under our house. We called on them to A. Find our tank because our county had no records and we've not lived there long at all and bought the house from our mother. B. We needed our repair. Here's how ward brothers handled the situation. They diagnosed our problem, which was a maple tree that had grown through the old pipes. Our house was built in 1940, keep in mind. They poked around for not one day, two, but three days and not one, two, or three employees but three and the owners to try and find our tank to assess further damage. They then found two old tanks, original to the home, that were dry. Doesn't seem like a problem right? Well on that third day they brought out an excavator to uproot the tree and replace the old piping. They told us they would uproot the tree for free, which they later charged us for, and replace the pipe. So in replacing the old piping, they managed to completely tear up our yard, place new piping and then tell us we need an entire new septic system which would cost us $8000. Absolutely obsurd when the same company installed 3 new tanks for a business for just a few thousand more. Upon this news several people left to get supplies and the only honest employee told me that the brothers, THE OWNERS OF THE COMPANY, wanted to leave our open septic system until another day and not even finish repiping the system COMPLETELY! Which we paid over $800 for. And to top everything off, had they looked 3 more feet to the right of where there looked for the tank to begin with, they would have found our septic tank. And to add insult to injury several employees left garbage laying in our yard and stole our shovel and seemed to laugh the entire way through this process. I would NEVER recommend these guys to anyone. Why we were cheated and treated so poorly is beyond me. But thanks for the inconvenience. Oh and did mention that when we actually had a reputable company come assess their shoddy work, they had done a shoddy job. Wow.
