Since my first opinion was complained about by the good Dr. Downing Even though this is a honest and heartfelt synopsis of my personal experience. It was taken down. Even though I felt it clearly met all the rules of posting. I guess yelp and Turning Point didn't like it. So I will reword it and try to soft sell it better. BUT I DO FEEL ITS EXTREMELY IMPORTANT THAT OTHERS SHOULD READ MY OPINION about my experience with Dr. Downing and T/P Counseling & MFT. (marriage family therapy) Lets see if I can make my personal opinion not so detailed as the first posting. First off, I could not verify the Doctorates Degree of Dr. Browning, even though the college listed on his certificate is / has a mail / online program for his (PhD) doctorates degree. After contacting the college, I could not obtain the details of the curriculum necessary to earn the PhD. So, as far as I know, its like my friend who purchased a PhD certificate off the internet from a name like college for $800.00 Secondly, I found his style of counseling to be , well lets say a little too touching and feeling to make me comfortable. I felt that his physical advancement towards my ex wife by initiating and giving her a hug before and after our meetings, I felt, was very disrespectful of me. As it clearly made me feel very uncomfortable, especially since I / we were working on reconciliation. I felt it was unprofessional and inappropriate at the very least. Thirdly, He called my ex wife and complained about my first opinion posted on yelp. It sure seemed strange that he called her instead of me to complain about it. That too I felt was inappropriate and unprofessional. Especially since she CALLED ME and got angry at me, and told me she could hug anyone she pleased. Fourthly, I felt that he was not getting to the point and was trying to drag things out, like (in my opinion) as so many lawyers do, to increase the time and money spent. Fifthly, On his profile page on their web site, He claims /claimed to have 10's of thousand of hours in counseling, well I did a little math and that came up to what i felt was an unrealistic number of hours per day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year, with no breaks or vacations or time off. I asked him to verify the advertised hours and he refused. What it appears to me to be, is a sly play on words, legally called (puffing) aka: advertising side talk. (again to me, not a sign of a beyond reproach 100% trust worthy MFT. With all of these things added up and I'm suppose to be able to trust him 100%? To me, it seems like the vulnerability of his clients, and these little unimportant discrepancies (as my ex wife called them) added up to, not the kind of MFT, I could trust with something as important as my reconciliation and possible future life. The Counselors needs appeared to me, to be a higher priority then mine and my goal of reconciliation. At $150.00 per hour it should be my goals and not his ego. But hey, you figure it out, there are lots of people that might like his style. But I'm not the free spirited cuckold type. Seriously, me being a Christian, the bible says this, "You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, or his manservant or maidservant, his ox or donkey, or anything that belongs to him. Deuteronomy 5:21 I would think, a self proclaimed and advertised Christian MFT, would be more sensitive to that, especially when working with vulnerable and emotionally compromised clients. FYI: I / we chose another PhD (verified), Licensed (verified) MFT who is a Christian (verified) who has preformed almost a miracle, with his guidance, tutelage and prayers, reconciliation is on track and a honest & real possibility. read more

Hello Friend, After months of being on an emotional roller coaster ... I FINALLY felt a sense of relief after discovering and attending just my first session with Alina at Turning Point. I went from county agency to agency to agency ... hitting a block wall at every turn ... what a complete and utter waste of my time and with what little energy I had mentally and emotionally. Dr. Peter Robins is a very easy to talk to therapist. He helped my wife and I Identify one of our biggest struggles of money management. With his help with he shared with us the Turning point stewardship program. This is a carefully devised program that is customized to each couples financial obligations to manage their expenses and a pragmatic in approach to paying down credit card debits with out cashing out of your marriage. Since we started the program our arguments of spending have nearly vanished and we are more in sink to being partners rather than enemies. Our respect for each other short comings are easier to deal with since we have harnessed our trust of bills being paid through the Stewardship. We in agreement with the budget set forth and we are more secure. I would suggest most highly that any couple that has money management problems hand over the control to Turning point stewardship because now their no power struggle of superiority or blaming that all in turn disintegrates a marriage. I feel the money spent has given me piece of mind and the assurance that we can make better financial decision with out disregarding are yearly financial budgeted expense. read more

I want to let the world know a little about Dr. Peter Robbins. Recently, my wife and I were shopping for the BEST marriage counseling we could find in southern California. After interviewing many consolers we decided to peruse a relationship with Dr. Robbins. Without getting into our personal details, we've seen a few different counselors over the past 21 years, with resulting in very little to no real progress. Dr. Robbins is a strait forward no nonsense consoler (Dr.) that has open my eyes to many AH-HA moments. He's given me the opportunity to see my wife's perspective like I couldn't ever imagine or understand. He is not the cheapest guy but he's worth a lot more than what he charges! I highly recommend Greg Meeker to anyone who is truly looking to find healing. Greg is qualified in many areas, as seen on his Turning Point Counseling website. But I personally feel that his true specialty is how much he cares about his clients and how much he wants to help them heal. He showed me empathy and understanding of my situation, which I needed. At turning point counseling I had the honor and privilege to be counseled and cared for with the upmost tenderness and attentiveness and care possible. From the moment we started speaking an unimaginable sense of peace and safety overwhelmed me. Her attentiveness to everything I had to say was supremely more than I could ever have hoped for along with everything she guided me in and suggested for me. She made it so easy for me to open up fully without feeling ashamed or embarrassed. She had absolutely no judgment against me, I only felt she genuinely cared and wanted the best for me. I can honestly say the advice Dr Kevin Downing gave me and helping support my step children and their relationship was in the best interest of the children. Kevin said that helping the children deal with a divorce and a unhealthy relationship with their Father will change their life and their marriages and relationship with their children. I highly recommend any parent going through a divorce or step parents to take the time and meet Dr Kevin Downing and really understand the greatest gift you can give the children that will last a life time. Dr. Peter Robbins counselled my adult daughter, of a prior marriage, manifesting assorted complaints describing me, her dad, as Toxic (term used in his YouTube video) and expressly advising her to "take a break" from me. She did,TWO YEARS AGO and never came back to even talk, cutting off all forms of communication. Having not grown up with me, her perceptions are unfounded, histrionic and evidently the result of incorrect false memory. I evaluate his counsel as poor advice and reckless guidance based on no confirmation of her claims and NO followup to his damaging advice. As a result of his shallow insight, I've lost my only daughter and my three grandchildren. Try someone else...If you need counseling. read more

I am in the process of being treated by Dr. Robbins for anxiety/OCD issues, and so far my experience has been extremely positive. Dr. Robbins strikes me as a caring therapist who wants to treat each patient so that they will be able to eventually have lasting victory over their fears.
