I had a great experience yesterday with Turning Wrenches here in Louisville. They work on Mercedes, Porsche, BMW, and Audi. The Audi dealership told me my Q8 needed a full brake job at a very high price, so I went looking for a second opinion. Turning Wrenches had strong Google reviews and their estimate was $1,500 less, so I gave them a try. I dropped off my Q8, they handed me a Mercedes loaner, and about an hour later Jimmy (the manager) called to tell me the truth: my brakes were fine. Rears at 65%, fronts at 55%. No work needed. I've trusted the Audi dealership for years, but after this, they won't be working on my car again. The quote I was given and the way it was handled was flat-out wrong. When I picked up my car from Turning Wrenches, there was no charge at all. They even left cookies and a bottle of water in the car. Dropped my Audi off for an oil change, easy drop off, good communication from them, didn't try to upsell me on anything but they did let me know what maintenance was needed through the entire car even with pictures to show issues! Picked my car up a few hours later and when I got in they left me cookies and a water, thought that was cool. I wanted to like this place. But something about listening to Jimmy, the store manager, basically tell me that an Audi with 65K miles is prone to engine failure didn't sit right with me, especially after spending $1800 for an oil leak they supposedly fixed. I was pissed. He told me to be professional. After I dropped a few f-bombs about the situation, then he held my key ransom, and would only give it to the AAA driver. Once the AAA drive arrived to get the key, professional jackass Jimmy threw the key at the driver, and said "I tired of dealing with this". Thats literally his job, to deal with it. Come to find out, Jimmy isn't that professional afterall. Take my advice and go somewhere that shows alittle more compassion and understanding about the situation, offers insight and alternatives or just plain sympathy, and doesn't take your money and tell you to kick rocks. read more

On December 9th 2025 I dropped my BMW off for a routine service. After I picked up my car on the way home I noticed a scratch on the inside of my windshield. This was definitely not there before as it is directly in my line of vision. I called them back when I got home and was told to bring it back and they would see what they could do. when I took it back I spoke with the manager Jimmy Beverly. He was insulting and condescending. After about 30 minutes of him asking me how they could have done that (how was I supposed to know when they had my car) he finally said he would speak to the owner and check the cameras and call me back. Needless to say after 4 weeks later he never called me back. I gave him time because of the holidays. When I called him back he gave me the same answer and admitted forgetting about me. when I refreshed his memory as to what he said he would do he all of a sudden replied with an "oh yeah...yeah, the owner pulled the footage and didn't see anything." Which leaves me to believe that was absolutely not done. If you value your car DO NOT take it here. They obviously don't care about you or your car! read more

Maybe the only thing more agonizing about car trouble is thinking about how, when, and where you are getting your ride fixed -- not to mention how much it may cost. On a recent rainy day (the one with the tornadoes), I ran a quick errand later and heard the familiar "clunk, clunk, clunk" with each revolution of the wheels that could only mean one thing: a flat tire. I groaned inwardly, as I had a full day ahead and had only a very short window of time to take my car somewhere. A quick Yelp search of "tire" near me revealed Turning Wrenches. The phone was quickly answered by a human who encouraged me to come on down and they would take a look. I gingerly drove my car the short mile there. When I arrived, I was quickly greeted by one of the mechanics, and encouraged to take a seat in the waiting room. Clean, with comfortable seats and complimentary coffee (Keurig!) and water, it was much more pleasant than the dingy, grease- scented places I've had to wait in in the past. Within about 20 minutes they had diagnosed and fixed my problem (a screw they got lodged in my tire). All that only cos me about $20 to boot! I have used quite a few shops including the dealer to work on my 2009 Mercedes. I had heard good things about these guys and decided to give them a try. I would definitely recommend especially for regular service intervals as they are about half the cost of the dealer and they get you out quick. The service tech and the customer rep I recognized as they had come over from a prior shop I used which specialized in German cars. Very professional and they review the recommendations with you before performing and discovery work, and really go into detail as to what is required vs what can be deferred. The waiting area was spotless, with Keurig coffee, cold water bottles, and cookies, chips. When you get your car back they even put a 3-pack of chocolate chip cookies in your cup holder. I had a problem arise which required immediate attention and even though I did not have an advance appointment Levi worked the car in quickly and had a diagnosis right away. I was able to chill in their spotless waiting room which was fully stocked with coffee and water. I was given an estimate and timetable for the repair. My car was ready when promised and when I got in my car there was a chilled bottle of water and a bag of cookies. This is customer service at it's finest. Their attention to detail and courtesy is top notch. While there I had them repair an item that I had a previous quote from an auto dealership. They fixed that issue and saved me a substantial amount of money. I could not be happier and would recommend them highly to anyone who needs auto repair, especially Mercedes Benz repair. Levi was very professional and maintained excellent communication with me throughout the entire time my car was there. I had a problem with my battery power draining. I only needed an oil change, but was pleased with the personal interaction with Levi (owner)... gave me a reasonable and accurate quote, car was done on time. Also I had asked if they were able to do a programing modification to close all the windows if you held the recirculate button. (was a feature on my older benz)... they looked into it, but found it required a major change in software. They had diagnosed my issue, recommended what needed to be done and priced it. Their pricing is very reasonable. WAY cheaper than autobahn or Mercedes dealership. I am not one to write a review, mostly because I don't have the time, but I feel compelled regarding my experience at Turning Wrenches. I have a 2009 Mercedes-Benz E350 with high mileage. This car has been serviced like clock work. Unfortunately, I was driving to work and after turning the car off, smoke billowed out of the hood. The temperature gauge was normal, the only warning light was " low coolant". After assessing what may have happened, I saw a small plastic hose that runs from the coolant into the engine block had come apart. I had my car towed to Turning Wrenches and left a note of what needed to be replaced. A representative called the next morning to review and assess. That afternoon I received an email with repair costs etc. They began to tell me that the cross-over hoses need to be replaced as well as the " small plastic hose." Total cost 650.00 bucks! I thanked the representative for there assessment, but I only wanted the " small plastic hose" replaced. Turning Wrenches denied my request and stated they wouldn't do a "partial fix", moreover their assessment report went on to say the car needed a multitude of other repairs. I simply asked to have a $45 part replaced. Please be cautious when having your car serviced at Turning Wrenches. I towed my car to a very respectable competitor and 150.00 later my car is running perfectly. read more

I had my car towed here after having several issues with it for a long time, I was told they would run diagnostics on it and let me know what the problem was. I was told a few days later that there was internal engine damage and to diagnose it any further they would have to pull the engine out and apart and that would be more, in cost, than my car was actually worth. I had told them not to and I would have it towed off the property. When I called to pay for the diagnostic testing and make arrangements for my car to be towed I asked for a print out of the diagnostic test and the kid that answers the phones told me there wasn't one. He said the diagnoses was based on cranking my engine and listening to the noises and he determined it was internal engine damage. After spending a lengthy amount of time on the phone with him, being told things like, "I don't need a print out of any test ran because I have his word"," you can't run test on a car that wont start", when asked if he checked the fuel pump he said he "couldn't because it wouldn't start", which is flat out wrong, I tried to confirm the invoice for the $45 diagnostic charge and my key would be in my car so it could be towed after hours, he hung up on me half way through that confirmation. He was the most argumentative, disrespectful, and ignorant "customer service rep", I had ever had to deal with. Then, when my friend stopped in that afternoon to talk with them about my car and how I was talked to, he was told the $45 is actually a "vehicle inspection" charge that everyone is charged as soon as their car is dropped off on their property, regardless if they actually diagnose or do work on it! He then talked to the technician who actually looked at my car, and realized the kid I talked to had never looked, or listened to my car! The technician told him that they didn't hook it up for testing because they cranked it and because of the noises it made he was sure it was the timing belt, which is a lot more helpful than internal engine damage!!! Why they were willing to tell him, my friend, what they thought the issue was specifically, and not me, I can only assume it is because the disrespectful kid they have talking to their customers assumed I wouldn't have a clue about the mechanics or just didn't want to take the time to tell me what was actually wrong with my car! I ended up spending a week and a half thinking my engine is junk, because some idiot kid told me I would probably end up needing to replace the engine, and $45 for taking my car to their shop. Lesson learned...just because it is with in walking distance, just because you think local, independent businesses are more likely to value their customers, just because some places only post good reviews, doesn't mean that is how your experience will be, your experience may end up like mine, stress on top of stress, miss-diagnosed, wasted money, and treated not like someone who just gave you money for nothing, but like someone you thought wasn't worth the time or effort to even be talked to like an actual person. read more

In from out of town and needed my ML320 worked on. From the start everyone was great. They diagnosed the issue (rear wheel bearing), gave me my options in under 15 minutes. They all had other stuff going on but took the time away to get me an answer quickly. Honest and open with the process the whole time and articulated everything. So impressed from start to finish. Fair price and parts were at or cheaper than I found looking around the internet. On the phone and at the counter, the customer service from Turning Wrenches was excellent, and I feel that my car was well taken care of. After I dropped off my car for an oil change, they did a general safety check and found a burned out light, streaky wipers, and a dirty air filter. Then they called to tell me about those issues and to let me know immediately how much it would cost to address them. I gave them the go-ahead, and they straightened up all those things to my satisfaction. My car is a 2004 and not in mint condition. I was very pleased to be able to discuss whether or not certain long-term issues (inefficient Catalytic Converter and worn front struts) needed to be addressed. I felt that Turning Wrenches was honest with me and treated me like a peer (and not a mark) when they said that these issues did not need to be fixed immediately. The price for an oil change and those general maintenance issues (bulbs, wipers, filter) was very reasonable. And, again, the customer service was excellent. I look forward to returning for more positive experiences at Turning Wrenches. I expect that more experience, including big-issue fixes, will bump my rating up to 5 stars. read more
