So then my first thought was, why am I the first one to write a Yelp review? In order to gain entrance you have to ring the bell and a nice older lady will come and unlock the door for you. Once inside you see a mix of wooden, metal and ceramic artworks. They also have handbags, swimsuits, some glassware and jewelry items. It struck me that this store seemed a little out of place, as if it belonged more in the area of the Woodlands near Houston, as opposed to the more pedestrian crowd on the island. Pieces went flying. Within days, I went back to the store with my receipt and the broken flipper set and asked for refund. They refused. Said I didn't have the broken pieces (?!). Then they said that it "wasn't their fault." They refused to stand by the product they sold. There's no return policy on the receipt and none posted that I saw. They certainly didn't point a policy out to me or reference it when I was there. They just REFUSED to acknowledge that they sold a a DEFECTIVE product or to stand behind their merchandise. Look, this is a store full of cheap tourist trinkets. I didn't expect (even for $30) a high end quality product. However, I did expect that my son would get a few uses out of the item. Shoddy. Cheap. She followed me around the store and, on two separate occasions, came up to me and said, "We're short staffed." I genuinely wasn't sure what she meant by that. The impression I got was that she didn't want me touching or looking through the shirts. After the second time, I finally asked, "Are you offering me a job?" She immediately backtracked with, "No, no, that's not what I meant..." but I still never really understood what she was trying to communicate. What bothered me most was that I didn't see her treating the other customers that way. I spoke with the manager before leaving, and she said she would address it, which I appreciated. Unfortunately, the experience left a bad enough impression that I won't be returning. There are plenty of other souvenir shops on the island where I can browse without feeling like I'm being monitored.
