This cafe has really gone downhill. I remember how cute the old location was, and this shop a hole in the wall. The pressed sandwiches we got were pretty slim on fillings and quite soggy. We went during lunch on a Monday but they were out of tons of menu items, having not restocked from the weekend yet. We tried to order one sandwich on gluten free bread and one on ciabatta. They were out of ciabatta so they offered sourdough instead. Then the food comes, and it turns out they didn't have sourdough either. So instead of telling me what they do have and letting me choose, they just made it on rye bread, and offered to remake it before even setting it down. I don't like rye so I did ask for a remake, and I don't understand why they didn't just ask in the first place. Unfortunately, they also made the "gluten free" sandwich on rye bread which was discovered after my gluten-intolerant mom had eaten a bite. The whole experience was a confusing mess. They refunded our sandwiches and we ate somewhere else. My mom got a raspberry smoothie which she said was good and I got an iced coffee which was not good, I left that behind too. It's never a good sign when you somewhere for lunch and coffee and end up needing to go somewhere else for lunch and coffee after! I would maybe come back to try a smoothie here but I would get it to-go and skip all the food. A 1 star experience but adding 1 star because my mom really liked the smoothie, and the staff were accommodating by offering remakes and refunds, remaining polite even though none of us were having a good time read more

Turtle Leaf has all the makings of a solid, pleasant dining experience. Great menu, convenient location, fresh food, indoor and outdoor seating, and super friendly and helpful staff! We stopped in for lunch today - I got a spinach-pineapple smoothie, and a grilled veggie panini on gluten free bread, and my friend got a salad with grilled chicken, pears and walnuts. It was a lovely day, so we decided to sit outside, and the staff gave us a number for our table and told us they would bring our food out to us. Service was fast and within a few minutes we had our meals. We probably got about half way through eating, while enjoying the sun and fresh air, when the bees started to really swarm us. One or two would have been fine but there were about 10 or 12 and we could not eat in peace, so picked up everything and went inside. Despite the bees, the food was very good. We enjoyed the fact that the place had a good flow of customers and the staff were all very friendly and accommodating. And we loved the menu - hopefully we will eat there again soon! read more

Ordered: Beef & Mushroom Panini (~$10): with chips & salsa but subbed herb dip for salsa. Large Fresh Lemonade with Mango (~$4) Coffee Banana Foster (~$6): coffee, yogurt, cream, cinnamon, sugar, and banana blended (no whipped cream added) Aya's take: Stumbled across this spot before a long drive back and it was a great decision! The Panini did the job of keeping me full for the drive but it wasn't anything extraordinary. I did enjoy the herb dip with the chips on the side. The Mango Lemonade was absolutely refreshing and not overly sweet. I'm a sucker for anything banana-flavored so the Coffee Banana Foster not only gave me that caffeine kick but was a nice sweet treat. Great customer service also! read more

Went there for a late lunch - just before closing time, whoops! Anyhow, they were very gracious, prepared nice sandwiches for myself & my guest, and gave us ample time to eat. Food: I love some of their food, I like to eat food that appeals to me and doesn't look like someone just threw up on a plate and serve me it. But I will tell you they have AMAZING SMOOTHIES! I ordered a BLT, pretty standard sandwich. It came to me so limp I couldn't pick it up. They put the whole sandwich through a panni press, lettuce and all. Limp lettuce, burnt bacon, one tiny tomato, not sure there was mayo, and three pieces of not toasted, but limp, thin bread. It's like who ever made it never had a BLT. Nothing about this place blew me away. I wanted a pesto flatbread but they were out so I got the Mediterranean. When I received the Mediterranean there were olives and artichokes on it but those weren't not listed as a topping on the board. I definitely would have gotten something else had I know as I'm not a fan of either of those items. My friend got the veggie sandwich which was suppose to have eggplant on it and did not. They have free water but there were not cups there. The bathroom was out of soap. The kids running the place were very loud in the kitchen. Great spot for breakfast (served all day) and lunch. I went with a peanut butter crunch bagel: plain bagel toasted with melted creamy peanut butter, bananas, and granola drizzled with honey. Super little find in downtown Elmira! The iced tea - available in several flavors - was delicious and served in frosted mugs! The blueberry iced tea was yum! With frozen blueberries floating in your mug.... Although a bit too sweet for this unsweetened ice tea drinker. I'm guessing you could ask them to do it "light". The yogurt parfait was the best I have ever had! Slightly sweet yogurt with layers of granola, fresh strawberries and raspberries- it hit the spot on many levels. I really enjoyed this place! The ambience is absolutely everything -- from the color to the plates, everything is really cute and ties together really well. I'd definitely recommend the Turtle Latte; I'm not a fan of caramel but I still enjoyed the drink very much. I got the beef and mushroom panini with the chips and salsa. I'm visiting from Los Angeles, so I thought the salsa was mild to my taste (as was the spicy chicken flatbread), but the flavor was still delicious regardless. And their smoothies are delectable! This place is ridiculously overhyped. It is obvious that the owners have gained the system because there is no way this place deserves 75 reviews compared to an average of 12 to 15 at the most from any it's nearby competitors. The food itself was ho-hum at best. Not bad but definitely not what it was hyped to be. Everything seems microwaved rather than cooked. The atmosphere was laughable. Absolutely filthy and I don't understand why on earth anybody would call any part of this place cute because it is embarrassingly bad. The bathroom looks like it hadn't been cleaned since the 80s. The walls and floors were filthy because he handprints all over all of the doors like that never been cleaned. The self-serve drinking water glasses look like they've never been washed ever ever and I mean ever there is a horrible film over all of them. The coffee carafes were also disgusting. The coffee itself was roughly equivalent to gas station coffee at best. Save your money and go to the Elmira coffee shop down the street at least for good coffee. Also thought it was strange that they had at least 10 people working here and nobody was doing anything. read more

Good sounding options on the menu. Ordered the hot roast beef mushroom and received a cold roast beef with red peppers. Let down, but whatever. Bigger issue is the beef being about friggin inedible. Don't know where it's coming from but a huge, and I mean huge, chunk of cartilage got sliced up into my sandwich, was spitting it out and pulling off what I could for most of the sandwich. See pic. I finally got around to checking out this place which I have heard alot about. It isnt easy because unlike most cafe's they dont open until 10 am. The place I love the cafe & coffee shop vibe they had a a few comfy chairs & couches ( in fact a girl was sleeping in one!) by a nice fire place. It had plenty of table space with a cool bar even. It was very clean and set up well The food I went here with my wife we ordered the Strawberry Turkey Brie and Ham, cheddar, pear panin's on the advice of the lady at the counter and wow were they good. Everything tasted so fresh you can tell they use quality stuff in the things in their menu. They both came with fresh grapes and carrots which was great healthy option. I was so sad I had just come from Heavenly cup so I was too full to try some of the amazing coffee options they had but I will be back! I normally go to Panera Bread when I'm up by the mall I'm so excited I now have a better option. If you like Panera you will love this place I can't wait to try their coffee and baked goods both looked really good! I was in town for a few days and my mom told me to find somewhere new to try for lunch that was "healthy and fun." After a quick search online this place seemed to cater to both of our likes. It did not disappoint! The service was friendly and we are those pains that always make an adjustment by adding items not originally in the panini or asking for a sauce on the side etc. Everything came just as ordered AND it was absolutely delicious! I can't wait to go back. Also the service was friendly from each person we interacted with despite it being lunch hour and quite busy. There was also infused water which took it up a notch as well. Highly recommend! Not good. I had the Thanksgiving, which was a turkey sandwich with poor quality turkey, American cheese, cranberry sauce on a cold roll. Fresh carved turkey and a toasted roll and maybe a little crunch of lettuce would have made all the difference. My husband had chicken salad and the kids had grill cheeses that were tasteless with American cheese and dry bread with no butter. Most of our sides had squishy, overripe grapes.
