We went for breakfast on a Sunday morning around 11am. They have very limited hours and close at 12pm on Sundays! They were super busy with two waitresses working the whole place. We ordered within 5-10 min of sitting down, but then waited 45 min - 1 hour for our food. We both ordered omelets, which were massive and tasty once they arrived. Turns out the waitress forgot to put our food order into the system. She apologized, but otherwise, nothing else was done. I was shocked since most places own up to their mistake and make it right to the customer by offering a free side dish, comping the meal or taking a percentage off the bill to recognize their mistake. When here for a classic diner meal. It had that quintessential diner, feel for sure. I got the biscuits and sausage gravy with a side of hash brown patties. The sausage gravy was cooked really well. It was not salty like some gravy I've had in the past. The biscuits were nice, fluffy and buttery. I am a sucker for hash brown patties so the hash brown patties really hit. They were so crispy! Blue Ribbon is your prototypical country diner; a little rough around the edges and very old school inside. The over easy eggs are cooked perfectly, the toast um, toasted just right, however, the bacon tastes of an overload of liquid smoke, and while the potatoes were nicely cooked, something in the seasoning wasn't to my liking. Absolutely the worst breakfast experience ever!! Western omelette was made with taco seasoning but the first western omelette I ordered came out with sausage and peppers!! We are visiting from out of town and stopped in for an early supper. Place has good reviews. We got seated in the only booth back behind the salad bar and next to a mysterious swinging wood door that kept blowing in and then out. The couple ahead of us was asked for their drink orders. Our server didn't show up for another 10 minutes or so. We ordered soft drinks and then our meals. Our meals were OK. We got chicken Alfredo which was good and also cheese ravioli with meatballs. The garlic toast was extremely hard and dry. There was someone who had a table of screaming children and the owner's son and soon-to-be daughter-in-law were having a pre-wedding dinner party so half the restaurant was reserved. The table of young boys next to us didn't make a peep but the table of screaming children by the register was obnoxious. More obnoxious was our server who didn't visit our table once during our meal. I went to use the restroom and asked her for another beverage. When I returned to the table my other half told me Suzanne came and slammed her diet soda on the table and was gone before she could say thank you. We didn't get a check - we walked to the register and Suzanne told us what the bill was and we paid. I asked if she was having a good day and she just looked at me; I pointed out she didn't visit us and asked about her slamming the soda on our table. She had no response so I ended up talking to another server who was extremely friendly and apologetic before finally speaking to Brandy who is getting married tomorrow. Brandy is apparently a manager and the soon-to-daughter-in-law. My husband and I were staying in WatkinsGlen. We looked for a breakfast spot that opened early and were close to trails (Catharine Creek Trail) to walk our dogs. Eva was our waitress and Larry was a patron both of whom we adopted as we returned for the three mornings we were in town. My husband especially enjoyed the home fries and I LOVED the blueberry pancakes. We wish the Blue Ribbon was closer to home. I noticed Dave's review. My bacon was very tiny which I have attributed to the death of Piglet from the Hundred Acre woods. "Other-who", as the Owl would say The breakfast was very good. Found this restaurant on the way to watkins Glen race track. One of the best breakfast places I have found in this area.

I eat 50 plus meals a year from this Diner. Good food on the cheap. Great spaghetti and meat balls. They do a good job with steak night as well. The burgers are awesome. The salad bar is aways very fresh and has LOTS of veggies. Breakfast is great too. I know most of the servers very well. Suzanne is my favorite. This place is far better than chefs and curly's down the road. They take visa master card as well. Only negative I have is I don't care much for the pizza. It's mostly personal preference with me. Some people love the pizza. The pizza is brick oven style. read more

My grandmother is from this small village in New York and use to eat here pretty frequently. While visiting family, I decided to stop in and try it. Opting for the Turkey Bacon Melt with fries, I was delighted with my choice. Its the best turkey sandwich I've ever eaten. Layers of cheese and turkey are topped with bacon and thousand island dressing all on a kaiser roll. It may look like a dive, but its worth your time. Looking for a place to eat breakfast on a Sunday, I passed several diners before happening upon the Blue Ribbon Diner. From the outside, it's nothing special but it was inviting and homey. Upon entering, I was immediately greeted and when I realized the diner had a counter, I opted to sit there. The menu is fairly long as breakfast menus go and I ordered coffee while I made a decision. I eventually decided on Country Fried Steak with sausage gravy, 2 eggs, toast and home fries. The kitchen seemed to have been a bit backed up as other orders made their way out to tables that were occupied prior to my arrival. The portion sizes looked large and I waited in anticipation. The breakfast arrived after about 10 minutes - the country fried steak was piled high with sausage gravy and a generous helping of home fries. The eggs, ordered over medium were correctly cooked. The country fried steak was tender and the sausage gravy had a nice spice from the sausage but wasn't overly spicy or floury. The total was $11 - $9.99 for the entree plus $.99 for coffee - not cheap but not outrageous given the large portion size. Next time I'm in town, I'll stop by for another epic breakfast!! read more

Blue Ribbon Diner has limited service due to them being understaffed. The staff they do have are friendly and tried to make us as comfortable as possible. Our server was very apologetic and explained the situation to us. We waited almost an hour to get our food, which perturbed us a bit, as we stopped here on our way out of town after vacation. The prices were dirt cheap though, I ordered a side of pancakes just because I could. If you're not a local, I wouldn't come here unless they renovate and get new staff. I was visiting Seneca Lake recently for weekend wedding festivities and asked a group of friends if they'd like to go out for breakfast one morning. Being members of the wedding party, they had over 4 hours to kill. That gives us plenty of time, right? Wrong! I am a HUGE fan of NY diners so I immediately got online and searched for reviews. I settled on Blue Ribbon Diner and I can honestly say that I may never hear the end of how awful our experience was. We drove about 15 minutes to get there and came across a jammed packed parking lot. I was pleasantly surprised when we walked in and saw empty tables. That was the last pleasant surprise I would experience for a while. I must admit that we had a larger party - four adults, one teenager, and three kids. We stood in the doorway surveying the seating situation and were completely ignored by every staff member. I assume they figured if they avoided eye contact, we would go away. Unfortunately, I don't give in that easily and I really like breakfast. We organized our own makeshift table, which consisted of a booth and a round table. A fellow diner had to offer his child's highchair because again, no staff member was going to help us out. It took 10 minutes to be acknowledged, 15 minutes to get our drinks, and another 40 minutes to get our food. Refills? Forget it. The waitress was pleasant enough (when she appeared), but with as many empty tables as seated parties, I'm not sure there is an excuse to take so long. I am not parent to any of the aforementioned kids so I would be the first to admit if they were being unruly. In all honesty, we were tucked in a corner and far from causing a scene. If the object was to get this large group of patrons outta their hair, they should have stepped up their game. The opposite was happening and I was rapidly bracing myself for when the time came that these lovely children would go bananas. The food was just OK. They must have changed the size of the pancakes because they were anything but large. I had a breakfast wrap with peppers, onions, bacon, and I think eggs (can't be sure there were eggs in there). Hours later, when we finally gathered our things to leave, I had to ask for my own box for leftovers. As far as diner food goes, the menu is pretty standard. I ordered the bacon double cheeseburger which was good, but wish it was more medium than well. I never specified so no fault to the chef. As for the seasoned waffle fries, they were delicious. I would have eaten more if I wasn't already full. Overall a good place to eat on the cheap. However, don't expect lightening fast service. We were pleasantly surprised here. We had hot, fresh food at low diner prices. My clam chowder had the right amount of clams and was creamy but not too thick. My friend had the fish sandwich special called a fish Reuben. It was batter fried with coleslaw on a rye bun, delicious. The double burger was huge and made well. No complaints here! read more
