I went there for a work lunch with 3 coworkers. It was a very good experience. The woman behind the bar was super cool and provided great service. I asked for her opinion to help me choose amongst some entrees that caught my eye, and she recommended the Sausage and Peppers in white wine plate, which exceeded my expectations. Delicious, hearty sausages with delicious peppers, onions, and potato cuts. I also had garlic bread to soak up the juices. We ordered some fire garlic fries and two orders of the buffalo bite app. Everything was delicious. I will for sure be back to Turtles to try more of the menu and enjoy the environment. read more

I wish there was a Zero Star selection... It's very understandable when an establishment is busy and the bartenders cannot cater to the crowd due to just having one server + what I believe was the owner. After waiting about 25min to get a drink at the bar and continuously being skipped, my friends and I ask for 2 Modelos and a corona, only to be told by the blonde female bartender, "we don't serve that Mexican shit here!" And then refused to serve us anything after that and claimed it was passed the last call cut off .. After being disrespected in that manner we politely left. Can't say how disappointing this was as one of our finest also lives in the neighborhood and this was my first visit. Can't say how much I encourage you to not support this establishment. Such a disappointment, unfortunately looks like they cater to a certain crowd only. I will make sure I do not recommend this place to out of town visitors as I receive them at work every day. Cool spot that's walking distance to the White Sox Ballpark, still going to call it Comiskey Park. I found this place online, it looked like the coolest place to grab a drink and a bite before the White Sox game. We showed up mid afternoon a few hours before the game started and the place was full, everyone was in Sox gear. My girlfriend and I just sat at the bar because we're simple people. We ordered a pepperoni pizza and the buffalo chicken egg rolls, and the egg rolls were phenomenal. You can tell they were homemade and cooked perfectly. Love this place! Stopped by before a Sox game to grab a few drinks and food, and I immediately felt welcomed and like I was home. You can definitely tell that there are regulars here, but I felt like a regular during my first visit. We came Monday 6/10 for a Sox game, we usually go to Franco's but saw good reviews. Our waitress was so not personable, very curt and I hated her. The turtle was such a great find before a White Sox game. Only a two-block walk from the stadium. Went before a game had a couple beers, lunch. Very nice on the outdoor patio . I made an order for garlic fries and pasta marinara through Uber eats. 1) I requested no cheese on the fries but there was cheese on it. 2) there is no mention of meat in the marinara sauce. The locals clearly have an inexplicable soft spot for this place and it's mediocre service and menu. Because the options within walking distance to work are incredibly slim, and it's convenient for the occasional Sox game, I've returned at least 3 other times in the past 2 years since I reviewed it the first time and gave it two stars. The food there is really good. I got their chopped salad there during lunch and I was amazed and how many ingredients they threw in there. I also have tried their Parmesan garlic fries. Those are great too. One thing that ruins it for me is the service. I think the bartender and the waitresses are rude, cranky, unpleasant. This is true for all of the times I have been there. You see them smiling and joking with high school kids (they may be in college but look young), but then they come to our table and get cranky. My co-workers go here after work in the summer because it's one of two bars nearby. We like sitting outside. However, when we need more tables or drinks, it takes them a really long time to get these things. We see them attending to the table next to us promptly. So this place is apparently brand new - they JUST got a sign put up in front. My buddy and I stopped in for an early dinner. At 4pm on a Friday, they had one table just finishing a meal, and several other people scattered around the (tiny and obviously newly remodeled but still very cute) place. The waitresses were excellent (a little slow but very cordial and welcoming), and the owner came by twice to meet us and see how everything was going. I had the pulled pork mini burgers (slightly spicy BBQ sauce, $9) which I thought were quite tasty, the buns were almost like pretzel buns which I am quite fond of! My friend had the Italian sub - it was ENORMOUS, he ate half and half the fries and barely fit the rest in a take-out box. (He said it was really good, also $9.) We each had a Corona, they don't have any imports or a tap (yet? not sure if they're going to get one). The waitress thoughtfully asked if we wanted limes. I know some people don't like them, so I appreciated the question. The limes were the perfect size, too - not too big of slices! We had a school dinner thing for dressdown and i went along with the kids after a long day at work to see people waiting for their orders. Turtle employees were overwhelmed with phone orders as well. The wait staff was very sweet and honest about the times.We ordered Buffalo chicken sliders, chicken sandwich and placed an order for another chicken Sandwich over the phone which they got wrong and made chicken tenders. I was originally going to just amend my original post but seeing as how it was so brutal I figured I would just delete it and start over. My first experience here was pretty bad. There was nothing but country music playing, the place was void of drink specials and the service was cold. I swore I'd never come back. Fortunately I have a very good friend that lives a block a way that likes to frequent the joint. She convinced me on several ocassions to give it another shot. Not only did I give it another try but at this point I would consider myself somewhat of a regular at Turtles. A lot of things really turned me around here. I've had some of the best service since my first experience. A personal favorite bartender is Mario. He looks just like Mac from Sunny in Philadelphia which is awesome in itself and is always up for a chat and a joke. I've eaten here a few times and the food is pretty good. They usually have drink specials (unlike another bar down the street) and the service is always friendly. Came here for lunch after coworkers suggested it. I didn't even know it existed. Very small place, definitely go on off-hours and on non-game days. Ordered a burger, since it was what coworkers recommended. It was fantastically cooked, on a pretzel bun and had all these delicious fix-ins (you could add stuff for an extra charge). I asked for a side of their Parmesan-garlic fries and the waitress accidentally gave me their normal fries. Normal fries were still really good. She gave me a free giant basket of the garlic fries after I pointed out. Lately, anytime I have to correct a waiter/waitress for a misplaced order, I get them snapping back at me for me not ordering something or not ordering "correctly". Been here a few randoms weekdays for some beers, food, and sports games. Place in itself is quite chill. It's small venue with I'm assuming neighborhood folks. Beers: good selections for draft beers. Plenty for the small bar. Foods: the pizza rocks. Thin crust with just the right amount of sauce / ingredients. Garlic fries are DELISH! Highly recommended. There are food specials nightly so call in for options. I would try there other stuff also. Service: it's decent. They aren't hovering over you but not 100%attentive either. Have been friendly. No complaints. The bad: I cannot highly recommend a place when their bathrooms are cold. Sound petty? I just don't like going pee and being cold! Also, they have a door in the middle of the place as well as the comer- they should really lock that middle door in winter. At every opening you have to put on your jacket. If you are looking for some good food and drink near the ballpark this is a great neighborhood spot. The pulled pork sliders are to die for and also suggest trying the buffalo chicken rolls. They make a pretty darn good pasta dish one plate is plenty for two. We just hosted a party in the upstairs private party room with our own bartender and plenty of seating for our 20 guests. It can get a bit crowded during ball games but have an outdoor seating area in front if its too packed inside. Also dog friendly patio. read more

I'm afraid to write this review. I want this place to be my secret. This place near the Sox home field is small and unassuming. There is only room for me. But, it deserves a great review. So, I am going to try to be unselfish and write one. When I come with my buddy, a resident of Bridgeport and the one who introduced me to this joint, the waitresses are always super friendly and the food is delish. I usually get the bow tie pasta with italian sausage. Mmmm! It's not fancy, but not simple tasting either. Just the right amount of olive oil, tomato and spices. Well, just plain good...like a-mama used to make! The wings hit the spot too, but I don't crave them like I do the pasta. My mouth is watering now as I write this. Haven't been here during a game or on the weekend but you can usually find a seat on a weekday. It looks like it's just a little bar but suprisingly they have a kitchen. Classic Bridgeport staple, despite just looking like a standard bar/pub, they have some pretty good craft beers on tap, and good food that isn't expensive, it's very close to the red line and sox park, I've gotten the clam chowder and parm fries, kinda small space so it can get packed, but if you go when it's not too packed you can definitely have a good time read more

Popped in here for a drink one Saturday afternoon. The bartender was a little salty, but I kind of like that! He was super accommodating to me and my partner because we were 2 of the maybe 10 adults in the place. The tables by the window were full of youngsters. Like 12-15 year olds. The bartender was not happy about this but also had no 'reason' to ask them to leave. On a positive note I asked if they allowed dogs in their outside seating and he told me that they did as long as they were not too busy. The menu looks good, but I've not yet tried the food. I've mentioned it to my boys and they hadn't heard about it either. anyway, We came for beer and food and that's what we got too. I ordered a cheeseburger and it's got a big beef patty. It came with mozzarella cheese, lettuce, onion, tomato and a pickle. Now I went with the extra and got some bacon to make my burger better. And guzzled it down with Stella Artois. My girlfriend ordered pasta with meatballs. It was a big plate filled with pasta and sauce but the meatballs were just huge. Each meatball had to be 6 oz. each. The wait staff was good and attentive.
