First time I had these fries they were amazing! Super fresh and just awesome. Today I go in to order the same Putine Fries at opening at they gave me the oldest meat I've seen. I live a good 20mins from this place to it took me 40mins in travel time. I tried calling but the number literally goes to message" welcome to Verizon wireless your call can not be completed"?!? Like what? I truly don't like writing bad reviews when I've had great food but this is beyond me. I can't complain to rectify the issue which is unacceptable so here I am. Refund, a new order, or a credit for the next time I come would be nice. I'm not going to fully scratch them off my faves list but this is a very bad experience in a long time. Gas pricing and food cost in this economy and I receive this food & that type of customer service. I refuse to accept or turn the cheek on cutting corners like this. We as patrons deserve better when hard money is paid. I was literally one of the first, if not the only of the afternoon, and I receive yesterday's pork? Absolutely not. I came in around 1:30ish. Went here with my family for the Stanley cup playoffs. Awesome to be in a hockey bar to watch hockey! Unsure if it was just our booth, but we were all BOILING alive it was so warm inside. Food was pretty good, menu is really funny (jokes about the Blackhawks players). Waitress was super nice. Auto 20% tip was taken. We left after second period because my brothers team was losing, the team came back and scored 4 goals after we left? So maybe our vibes don't match the bars. I found this place through a reel on Instagram and, as a hockey fan, I was really excited to check it out. Let's talk about the good, the bad, and the ugly. The Good: This place is awesome concept-wise. A bar specifically dedicated to hockey? Yes, please. There are multiple TVs on the walls showing different games, jerseys hanging from the ceiling and on the walls, and hockey photos everywhere...even in the bathroom. It truly feels like a hockey fan's dream bar, and I honestly wish I had something like this back home. The food was also a win. I ordered the caprese sandwich, and it did not disappoint. The focaccia bread (which the menu says is made in-house) was very flavorful. The sandwich had fresh mozzarella, tomatoes, basil, and a drizzle of balsamic, all tasting fresh and well-balanced. It came with hand-cut fries, which were great! The Bad: When I walked in, I told the host that I only needed a table for one since I was dining solo. The host (or who I thought was the host (he was also doing valet) seemed a bit confused and said it would be a minute. That minute turned into several minutes of me standing there, despite multiple open tables clearly available. I wasn't seated until I finally asked if I could sit at a specific table, which was a bit awkward. The Ugly: I asked my waitress what beers were on tap, and she told me the tap list was on the back of the cocktail menu. After a quick look, I ordered a Bud Light. When she came back, she brought me a Bud Light in a bottle. That was confusing, considering I specifically asked about what was on tap. She walked away before I could say anything. It also took quite a while for her to come back so I could order food, which added to my frustration. On top of that, they automatically add a 3% service fee and a 20% gratuity, which i feel is unnecessary. Overall: This is a great spot for hockey fans! The atmosphere and food are solid, but the service and extra fees definitely take away from the experience. With some improvements, this place could easily be a hat trick! read more

This place is really cool and makes me jealous. Being a huge kings fan and hockey fan in general, I wish my team and or every team had a bar like this. The ambiance, vibes, and decor is perfect for a hockey fan coming to watch a game or pregame before heading to the arena. Service was great, staff was attentive and welcoming. Food was okay, nothing to brag about but it does the job. Only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is the lack of food options. Once again, not saying the food is bad, just not amazing. Ever since this place opened, it's Ben. My son's favorite spot. He's four. I think my husband also likes it a lot. He's 44. The theme and decor is very fun. There is bubble hockey to play in a Zamboni for a photo ops. There's also a golf simulator in the back. Beer list and drinks are pretty standard, services standard. The food menu is very limited, which is kind of a bummer. It used to be a lot bigger. I never see this place very crowded, so hopefully it stays open. The proximity to the United Center is very convenient. read more

Great spot for all hockey fans, of both the modern and past eras, there's memorabilia from all generations on the walls and embedded in the bar and other areas. It's right by the United Center, walking distance, so great for pre/post Hawks games, or just to watch there. It's also a good spot to watch the Stanley Cup playoffs, or any other big hockey game. The food is good, I'd say above average pub food. We got curds and poutine, bother big portions. Pretty good craft beer list too including their own IPA. There's a ton of space, including some pretty big tables, so ideal if you want to bring a bigger group. Servers were all nice and timely. Not sure how packed it'd be before a Hawks game, but regardless it's a real cool spot with lots of neat things to look at. Would definitely recommend and come back. read more

I waited like 30 minutes on 6 wings. How in the hell does it take that long to make chicken? When I received them they were big, which I don't like. They're also expensive - 6 wing dings were $14.00. I don't like establishments that automatic charge me gratuity, especially on a one person bill and on top of that they also charge you a 3% surcharge, so I paid $35 for an appetizer of wings and a drink. The Barn is in a prime location right by the United Center, offers quality service, strong drinks, and good food across the board (great pies and tendies). Our food came out in parts, with the pizza arriving about 30 minutes after ordering and only 20 minutes before we needed to leave. The check arrived about 10 minutes later, and we paid promptly, assuming we could finish eating before heading out. Instead, we were told we had to leave immediately because our table was being given away. When we tried to explain, the server literally turned her back on us mid-conversation and walked off. We weren't even offered boxes for our food. It was one of the rudest restaurant interactions I've ever had. To make matters worse, the bill was handled in a shady way. There was a vague mention of a service fee, but my wife was only shown the tip screen on the payment machine, set to a default of 7%, with no visibility into the total charges. After paying, we discovered a 20% gratuity had already been added to the bill, along with a 3% service fee. So we unintentionally tipped about 30% in total. This was probably our 10th visit. Came in for a quick bite to eat and was fairly busy! As always, the food was good. Settled on the turkey sandwich this time. We prefer to sit at the bar but it was full so we sat at a high top bar adjacent. We did seem to have a dedicated server and there is a unique table number at each table but they seem to not use it? Every time a food runner came out, poor kid had no clue where he should drop off at. This isn't the first time we've watched this happen. The bar service here is great, the table service has lots of room for improvement. Edited to say: every tab has gratuity added. This time we were told about it but that's not always the case. The manager told me to come back after the Blackhawks game (6 hours later maybe) and get it then. I understand they were busy and the situation was my fault. Customer service is a joke! I booked a golf simulator and they called me 45 minutes before my time and left a voicemail to say they have a league that night and have to cancel. They don't leave a phone number or the girl who called didn't leave her name. I've called & emailed multiple times to get my money refunded with no response. Went here before a hockey game to get a beer. Looked like a fun place for two hockey fans to hang out for a bit. Upon walking in we were told they were too busy to seat us so we went to the bar. We got a beer and asked for menus only to be told there was no food for an hour or more. Although we noticed that others around us were eating. No explanation other than that. Here's the thing, this location has turned over quite a bit. However, this time it seems different. If you haven't been, it is set up as one of the best, if not THE best places to watch sports in the entire city. There are TV galore here. The bar alone probably seats 25. All the booths have their own TVs. The TVs are NOT so dam high they kill your neck, they are placed perfectly! The sound system is second to none and they have the volume on for Bears and Hawks of course. They have added a back area where they are putting in golf simulators, YES golf simulators. They have Valet for $15 during Hawks games so use it! The chicken winks check all the boxes. I hope they can establish a regular crowd here even when the UC doesn't have something going on. I see this place capturing some college football fans. As long as it is staffed right and the kitchen can keep up there is no reason why this shouldn't be THE place for college ball in Saturday or any sports for that matter. I hope they do well here. Best hockey bar in the world!!! I've been to most NHL rinks and there is nothing as good as The Barn. My friends and I went around 5 before a 630 game and it had a lot of great energy to it, even with the Blackhawks at the bottom of the standings. Food and drink are both great, everything about the menu is well thought out and also great service. I'm looking forward to coming back everytime I'm in Chicago, especially for pre/post game visits to the UC. I had a Blackhawks IPA from Goose Island and it was very good. The wings didn't disappoint. As the only hockey bar in the city of Chicago (which makes no sense to me), my spouse and I were excited to visit The Barn for the first time to watch a Stanley Cup Final game. It ended up being one of the most laughably unenjoyable bar experiences we've ever had (and we spend a LOT of time in Chicago bars). My spouse and I made a reservation a week in advance. We arrived right at our arrival time and the first thing we notice is the bar is INSANELY hot. Like uncomfortably warm across the board. But anyway... We show up and both of us are wearing hockey jerseys of the teams playing in the Cup Final. A couple in front of us (who were walk-ins) quickly got a table for two. When we got to the host stand and told them we had a reservation, we were told they didn't have space for us (which makes no sense, because we literally had a reservation booked, but okay?). The only available table for two was in a corner with zero view of any TV -- despite us being seemingly the only fans there for the hockey game (at the "hockey bar"). The host tells me we can sit there and then when the concert crowd dies down in "30ish minutes," he will move us. Well, we go to the table and we just don't get served. And I mean, we NEVER got served -- no one even came to clean the table before we sat! No single waiter or waitress ever approached us to take a drink order once. And even as the place emptied out, the host never returned to seat us at a different table with view of the hockey game we visited this hockey bar(?!) to watch. The people at the table next to us gave us a couple of their beers during our wait as they commiserated about the shockingly awful service they were ALSO experiencing. But after an hour of literally ZERO service or accommodation -- even as the bar emptied out -- we just left. What a hilariously terrible experience. As a former service industry professional -- I usually get it. I know how hard it is to run a bar/restaurant. Everyone has their bad days. But this was just beyond comprehension. Never going back. We went here before a Bulls game and it was awesome. There were TVs in our booth which we really enjoyed. The cocktails and pizza were AMAZING. It was a very quick, easy walk to the United Center. We enjoyed it so much, we ended up going back after the game, as did many people. I will likely come here before any event at the United Center. I really think management needs to have better customer service for reservations. The Barn gets completely packed on game days, so I followed the game day instructions and I made an online reservation in advance and paid the $20 deposit for my husband and I. In the reservation I noted that we were celebrating our anniversary. I confirmed the reservation and we showed up early. The host walked us past several empty tables to seat us at a table in the back, behind a pillar, with a view of the kitchen. I asked about the open tables we walked past but the host isn't said "this is your table" and walked away. So we asked the server if we could sit at one of the open tables or one of the open spots at the bar. We were told they were reserved. Yes I have made a reservation, I explained. Nope they are reserved for other patrons. When I asked to speak to the manager the host said we could sit at the bar, all huffy like they were doing us a big favor. As we sat at the bar, the tables stayed open for at least another 30 minutes, and the bar didn't fill up for another hour Let's just say the whole experience made us feel completely unwelcomed. read more
