We first…read morebegan working with Mr. Park during the summer before senior year, and I was worried there would not be enough time to really help my son. But after meeting him, my thinking completely changed. From the beginning, Mr. Park was very clear, organized, and realistic with us. He did not just give general advice like many other counselors. He took time to understand my son's strengths, personality, and goals, and gave guidance based specifically on him. That made a very big difference for us. He helped a lot with essays and personal statements. Many times he pushed my son to think deeper and explain his experiences better, and I could see the improvement over time. His feedback was very detailed and personal, not advice that I could find online. What I appreciated most was that he was honest and straightforward while still being very supportive. The college process can be stressful for both students and parents, but Mr. Park helped make everything feel much more manageable. My son also became more confident, organized, and mature during this process. I truly feel Mr. Park cares about his students and wants them to succeed long term, not only for college admissions. I would highly recommend him to any family looking for genuine and personalized college counseling support.

We searched and met with a few counselors before deciding to go with Mr. Park. It is one of the best things we did for our child and for ourselves. Mr. Park helped our child navigate through his entire high school and the college application process. Mr. Park continues to mentor him even after our son graduated high school and left for college. Mr. Park's guidance is very direct and genuine in the student's best interest. You can see he guides each of his students differently based on their capabilities and their aspirations. He is very honest with them if they are going down the wrong path and guides them back onto the right track in order to maximize their potentials. He can be critical at times, but as we reflected back, it was in the best interest of the student. He took the pressure off the parents. More times than not, parents worry more than we should and it can have an opposite effect despite us thinking its our good intentions. I strongly recommend him as a coach and guidance counselor for any students who really want to strive to get into the best universities in the country. He help guided our child into the top 10 colleges in the country. At the end when reflecting back....Mr. Park's impact was beyond just a high school planning and college application process, but he instilled some life perspectives that are very important for long term success. We have a second child that is a bit younger, but we do plan to have Mr. Park guide the younger one too!

It was a…read morerare thing, it's a difficult to describe culture among the faculty, but I'll do my best- an anecdote: two students steal from the school, they take thousands of dollars worth of video equipment. They get caught- now, in a normal school where students are payroll numbers, the school could have easily justified dismissing both students and even gained face for it. I'm certain they considered it to, but it's not a huge school, even the secretaries knew my name and asked me about my family when I needed to pick up some class registration form or whatnot. These two students had been going there since sixth grade, they weren't bad kids- they just got caught up in the moment and they let the thrill of what they were doing cloud their judgment. They just needed someone to put them back on the straight and narrow- so instead of dropping down like a ton of bricks they gave them the opportunity to come clean to their fellow students! What a concept- because that necessitates that the student body have a conscience and love the school, otherwise they would pat them on the back, and it also necessitates that the student body be forgiving else these two would be ostracized. They did come clean to the student body, returned everything, the school pressed no charges, and the incident was never put on their record. Now they both attend respectable 4-year universities. The capacity for mercy from a large entity is almost nonexistent it seems, a mom and pop steak house can let a guy who left his wallet in a cab come back the next day and pay, a huge lumbering chain never would. This is a school that upholds its values. Also the student-Teacher ratio is awesome and the English teachers have a bit of a Dead Poets society thing going on where they discuss literature freely with students/other teachers during lunch or after school. The math teachers are downright sassy and hilarious individuals. Overall it was an excellent experience and I feel that I was bettered greatly by it.

The new dean of students has gossiped to other female studnets about another female studnets skirt about it being too short, which is unexceptable. And time after time they use the same excuse, that they "cant catch everyone" but will target females with different bodies types. Also dont even get me started on the political stuff at MVCS, Mrs Campos for example will dress code girls but not students wearing freedom shirts at school. Its very dissapointing because last year they made it a huge deal and it seems like they only care to dress code girls not guys. Also Mrs campos tends to get very close with male students, she's always up on them at the male students lunch tables, and it makes students uncomfortable. I hope MVCS can live up to what they say, very disapointing.

The impact Scott had on my son went well beyond college essay preparation/production. Pre-Scott, my son could barely write a coherent sentence and through the magic of Scott's teaching methodology and in a relatively short timeframe, the improvement was dramatic. The counsel, candid discussions, and direction Scott provided paid huge dividends in the classroom and in daily written communication (emails, texts). My son became a more confident writer and student which of course, carried over to everyday life. As he heads-off to college in the fall (UCLA), I'm forever grateful to Scott for the life-changing role he played in preparing my son for the next chapter and beyond.

Fortunately, my son is quite bright--but he suffers from ADHD and lack of self confidence. Scott immediately bonded with him--he's pretty amazing in his talent for putting kids at ease and finding their strengths--and he set up a super effective study and skills-building test prep schedule for my son. Scott also gave him super smart inside knowledge on how to pace himself, with strategies for both answering multiple choice questions as well as managing testing time constraints. My son improved his scores by 50%!! And my son thinks of Scott as a true friend and mentor, as well--trusting his judgment and sage advice completely. Fast forward, my son is now applying for colleges and that lack of self-confidence has returned. On top of that, he's super stressed out and depressed about the whole process and his ability to get into the colleges he'd aspired to get into, even though his grades and test scores should admit him into some pretty good schools. Again, Scott to the rescue. He helped my son really think deeply and analyze what he wanted out of a college and his future. And Scott knows SOOOOO much about *all* the different colleges and their academic environments, teaching atmospheres, stress levels, and the kinds of students who might succeed there--he is able to give great advice about what might be the best fit for someone, based on their personality and abilities. Scott was able to get my son to step outside of himself and his insecurities, and come up with a plan for his future that he feels confident about pursuing--most of all, a college plan with options that my son truly believes will make him happy. We can't say enough wonderful things about Scott except that we feel blessed and lucky to have him in our lives. THANK YOU, SCOTT!!

I believe the course requires an above average understanding of the material PRIOR to the students even walking into the class, and in my opinion, that does not help students understand the foundational concepts and structure of each question type. Hearing Type 1 or Type 10 question in class at a very early point in the class only added unnecessary stress/pressure as I had to go through my notes to try to figure out the question types. Additionally, my instructor was OK. I will say that she had a great understanding of the material but helping the class understand it, from THEIR perspective, was not her strong suit. Moreover, there were at least 2 occasions which she promised to call me to discuss some concerns I had and never did. For the hefty price I paid for the class, I did not feel that it helped my score. Contrary to my experience with TestMasters, I would recommend to others to first try the PowerScore Bibles (Logical Reasoning, Logic Game and Reading Comp). These have been my savior. I have been going through them post-TestMasters and many of the concepts now click!
