I visited Tutti Frutti Cafe for a smoothie on a hot day. What I received was ice mixed with puréed fruit, It was not a typical smoothie texture and mostly icee style. It was unsatisfying and I ended up throwing it out after a few sips. I won't be revisiting.

We randomly stopped into this cafe in search of a healthy, refreshing snack to cool us down on a jot summer day. The staff took us through the different items on the menu- we ended up order (Tractor) mango fruit slushie & strawberry fruit smoothie for the kids which i was skeptical about in terms of health. But- Joe-el (hope i got the spelling right) spent time with us as we hung out in the store and educated us and showed us the ingredients used which were super clean- no added sugar, organic, no high fructose corn syrup- so I really appreciated the extra time and effort he spent with us on what really goes into his menu. He also let us sample some homemade cheese and honey (similar to ricotta)- absolutely amazing. I highly recommend this place for a healthy snack while you are visiting Krate.

I hate I don't have better things to say about this spot that we were really excited to try. I will…read moresay that upon arrival, everything seemed to be going fine. The owner greeted us at the door, it was fairly empty so there was no wait and we were seated right away. The ambiance is nice. It does look like you've stepped into the VIP area of a restaurant, so it was cute -- not fancy, but cute. The owner then told us about the restaurant being inspired by his mother, they've been around for 10 years, explained the menu etc., it was nice. He also told us that he hadn't been to Jamaica since a kid and that raised an eyebrow -- but we let it go because he wasn't the cook. MIND YOU, I brought my cousin here (who is Jamaican) after seeing decent reviews about it. He brought over our first round of drinks and they were really good. We really enjoyed them. They weren't strong at all, tasted like juice. So I would recommend just getting juice instead of the +$5 to add rum. As we began to order and look at the menu, the prices were really HIGH, but I guess he was going for upscale cuisine -- so we said OK, let's see what this entails. We all ordered the Taste of the Island plater that gave an oxtail, curry goat and jerk chicken, rice and peas, plaintains and a tiny side salad. I wasn't mad at the portions given, but the flavor didn't hit the mark at all. NOW LETS GET INTO THE FOOD The Jerk Chicken was OVERLY spicy; we couldn't even enjoy the flavor. The oxtails were fatty, sweet and BLACK. Not enjoyable at all. The goat was OK, but not very flavorful in my opinion. The beef patties were good, but probably out of a box. The Roti was good and the oxtail dipping sauce was good. The Honey BBQ Wings were pretty good and cooked well. The Mac'n'Cheese -- DO NOT GET THIS. It literally has NO taste and reminded me of the cup mac'n'cheese that you put the powder cheese in. It took so long to bring it out, I guess he kept forgetting about it (they said everything is made to order) -- which, IDK how you make mac'n'cheese to order. Real cooks know, Mac n cheese is NOT a 5-minute made to order meal. He also didn't ask how we enjoyed the meal -- which I felt like he knew what we knew when he saw that not only did the other table leave a plate full of food (the meats) but our plates resembled the same -- he still collected his coin. There is a 20% gratuity that is added on at the end that is ridiculous considering the prices are already so expensive -- MIND YOU, it is not "Elevate Cuisine", its basic Jamaican dishes on Ikea plates. No special plating, no unique sauces or display, no chef's plating or anything. Just a plate of food. Everyone's bill came in over $100. The table nearby us order the same thing and inquired whether or not we liked our food, but we'd just gotten our food and hadn't tried it yet -- we did warn them about the chicken being spicy, but not everything else. They came after us and left before us and left everything on the plate except the rice and peas. I love black owned businesses and I wish this much more success, but I would NOT recommend it to anyone that is looking for authentic Jamaican food.

From the attitude to the lack of love put into the food. As for the Humming bird it needs help in many ways. The cleanliness is lacking, people should see clean tables and no leftover rice grains on the floor left from previous customers. The greetings and mannerisms are lacking as well. I shouldn't feel like I'm getting into an altercation with the cashier. As for the food it's lacking the love from the beautiful island called JAMAICA . When establishments get comfortable they forget what it took for them to open those doors. The hard nights of labor that open those doors, the love of cooking some amazing food, the introduction of bringing the elements of Jamaica. As for the order was an oxtail with rice and peas, and cabbage. Also an order of curry chicken with same sides as the oxtail. The oxtail wasn't tender enough the seasoning a bit on the salty side. The curry chicken tasted as leftovers from the previous day. Again it starts with the kitchen and owners have to be held responsible to the full extent. Either get it together for Tampa needs carribean restaurants or shut down and reevaluate the love once was that represented Jamaica.

Many options were crossed out from an already simple menu. However, the dishes that I got were…read moregood. Prices are reasonable.

While I don't recall seeing a sign for it as we were approaching (it's on the right side of the street if you're south-bound), the lights were on, and people were inside and outside (appropriate social distancing). As we entered, we were greeted by the vibrant Owner and Chef, Orlando. We learned that he purchased the restaurant just 3 weeks ago; it was obvious that he and his crew were working hard to get things up-and-running with freshly painted bright yellow walls, "fun reggae music" playing, a bright painting of Bob Marley on the wall and the delicious smell of BBQ as soon as we exited our car. Be sure to check out the picture of my ribs. That massive serving was only $17.00. I will get 3 meals from them. I chose steamed cabbage and yellow rice as well. While the serving sizes are large, the rich flavors are even larger!!! The food was absolutely superb and cooked to perfection!!! The meat literally fell off the bones.....YUMMMM!!! Be sure to bring cash, because at this point, they do not accept credit cards. Be sure to give this new restaurant a try! The chicken and beef were good but not much filling. We didn't enjoy the pizza one at all. For meals we had the shredded pork with rice, beans and plantains and a Cuban sandwich. Our food was very good. We each ordered the lemonade. Got the bill and saw they were $7 each. Wow. Guess we should have checked the menu for prices of drinks. Not sure we'll go back inside but may get takeout in the future.
