My 2.5-year-old daughter loves Tutu School Burlingame! While she can be shy or distracted in class, the sweet and patient teachers are encouraging and compassionate with her, and it is clear to me that their instruction is paying off inside--and outside--the studio. My daughter is constantly doing her butterfly wings and tiptoes around the house, and likes to randomly shout "I love ballet" on walks around our neighborhood. It was so magical & fun for her and her friends to get dressed up in tutus & capes, get a quick ballet class, decorate tiaras! All 8 girls and 8 boys had so much fun. The ballerina also read a story about the birthday girl - she was so so happy and felt so special!! Multiple parents thanked me for doing something different for the birthday. We recently had our daughter's 7th Birthday Party at this location. It was an absolutely magical experience. The care that went into the display and the activites were all fantastic. Miss Veronica did a great job leading the class with 12 excited little ballerinas, some of them with no ballet experience. Extra thanks to Jessica, the school coordinator, who emailed back and forth with me in re to all the details. So many of the parents approached me, telling me this was such a special experience for them to watch their daughters dance, and are now considering signing them up for classes! This review is for who want to take their babies there for the first time. Totally disappointed!! It is very nice and warm environment. I took my 3 year old daughter there this morning for her very first time. It should have been exciting for her. Ended up she was upset and cried , we had to leave before it finished. The teacher totally ignored the first time student who just like my daughter. No warm welcome or mentioned my daughter 's name in the beginning of the class neither. I can tell most of the babies are her continued students and they know what to do, how to dance and corporate with the teacher. I do understand some babies are fast learners but some maybe not. The teacher did not even slow down or give some attention to my daughter, who did not even know what was going on!!! Then, what is the point of you to create the first try free classes for those first timers !!! Be honest, how I feel about this class is the owner/teacher just want to finish the class ASAP and make money!! I won't take my daughter there anymore, sorry!! read more

Avoid. I signed up for a Pearachute virtual drop in last week. There were NO emails from the owners or the company about the virtual platform or information whatsoever. I decided to wait until 30 minutes before the class and kept checking my email. Still nothing. I feel the owners aren't proactive and ignore all. It's okay if you do it for a month. After that my 4yo was bored and refused to go every class. It's repetitive and not a lot of dancing. They do coloring, read books about ballet, talk about fairies and princesses. My girl isn't a girly girl, she just wants to dance. So we enrolled her elsewhere for ballet and jazz and she was much happier to express herself through movement than pretending to be a princess. read more

I took my daughter for a trial day. I let the teacher know, she didn't even introduce herself or say hello to my 2 year old daughter. She didn't absolutely nothing to make her feel comfortable or welcomed and the ln proceeded to ask of she has ballet shoes. First of all, the email said come with socks, and secondly, why would I but them yet if she is just trying it out. The teacher gave us no direction and got straight to the class. Didn't even introduce my daughter, welcome her, or help her out. My daughter was nervous and at no point did she even try to make her feel better. Granted, my 2 year old is not ready, but the least the teacher could have done was acknowledge her. Very disappointed and I wouldn't recommend this class to young children. Very sweet school! I had the opportunity to see my niece perform pre-pandemic and she was all smiles. She was so excited to dance for everyone and she loved the kids she was performing with. The teachers were there every step of the way to help encourage the kids who were a little nervous about performing. Once the pandemic hit, my niece would take video classes and loved it. She would dance around the room. I think it was great that Tutu school took that initiative to continue supporting and teaching the kids during such a rough time. read more

My daughter loves this ballet school! Initially we tried another place, but switched to this school because their adorable studio and focus on only ballet matched up better with what my daughter wanted. She started when she was 3 (close to turning 4). She is now 5.5 years old and still enjoys her classes. She loves participating in their Bravo Bash every June/December (loves the new tutus she gets, the little gift for the dancers, being up on stage, etc). Miss Karen was wonderful when she was learning the basics of ballet (age 3/4). Miss Whitney is fun and very engaging now that she's in a little bit more advanced class (age 5). Most impressive to me recently is that this school was the fastest of the schools that my daughter attends for activities to pivot to a virtual program, before even the official Shelter In Place was ordered by SM county in mid-March 2020. Tutu School sent an email with links to virtual classes immediately upon announcing that in-studio classes were on hold, added a bunch of cute and fun activities on Instagram, and altogether tried really hard to continue to engage my daughter in ballet when everything else kid-related was on hold. I distinctly remember having the time to make myself a cup of iced coffee late one morning because this school offered a free Tap Dance class online, and that was probably the only relaxing 40 minutes I had in the month of April 2020. read more

Despite that teacher Mandy was very nice to my daughter for the one class that we attended, I was very disappointed at the arrangement of my trial class. We were scheduled for an early 8:30 am class, of our own, without any other kids. We were not told of the situation beforehand. When we made effort to get up early and make it to the class, we realized it was just us. It was hard for my 19-mo old to figure out what was going on for the first half an hour since she was the only kid. As far as I understood the class at a later time slot on the same day was not full, so I wasn't sure why we were alone in the trial lesson. And they refused to give us another trial lesson on a fuller class which seemed the plan per discussion with teacher at the end of our trial lesson. So be sure to double check with them the detail of your trial lesson if you don't want to be disappointed on your first class! read more
