This was a great movie-going experience! They do a great job keeping the facilities up-to-date and clean. The seats don't recline, but they are very comfortable, and the armrests flip up and become part of the seat, so if you are on a date and wanna cuddle it is very easy to do! 10/10 would recommend! Dude who works here in the blue beanie does an amazing front flip. He won't do it on request to keep things professional, but I saw him do it - as he was serving my popcorn no less. Made a huge mess everywhere, but it was still pretty cool. He says he can do a backflip too, but I didn't see it, so I can't attest to that. Will be back again. read more

Holy 1985!!!! It's been a very, very, very longtime since I've been in a theater even close to one like this. - Old, torn and ripped seats. - Non-stadium seating still using the sloped concrete floor. - Bathrooms that wouldn't have looked out of place in the 1960's. - Almost no snack choices and what choices there were had prices that people living in Manhattan would have blushed at. But at least it's still there as the next closest theater choice is where? Altoona? Pittsburgh? To address a few things other Yelpers have written: No, there was no "candi nazi" present. There was only one employee that we saw and he could have cared less about what was brought into the theater. There were two groups of four at our matinee show and each group brought in a veritable buffet of food. If you go during matinee times tickets are only $5.50. I don't know how much cheaper you seriously think you can get tickets for in 2013? This place may stink but if it's the best you've got then you need to support it before it's gone. read more

From out of town visiting relatives for the holidays and thought it would be nice to catch a movie. It's a small theater but the prices were decent. The actual theater room was newly renovated or at least seemed to be. It was very comfortable and clean. The overall experience was nice. We'd definitely revisit when visiting again. This is the last remaining movie theatre in town, aside from the drive in. The selection of films is limited and often feature kids movies. The ticket prices are high and they have no student discounts. The snacks are so expensive it is nonsensical. Many folks sneak their own food in but the staff is hawk-eyed and one employee us unofficially known as the 'candy natzi' because he patrols each theatre room multiple times a film looking for offenders. The seats are old and the sound system sucks. I would rather watch a movie at home than go here, which is a shame, because the place has potential. read more

Great place! Very clean! Good movies and a great staff! $5 movie w/ free popcorn on Monday's are very popular. I would say to come early to all movies as it can get packed from time to time. I love that there are only 3 previews before the movie. Most places play a lot more than that. Prices seem high but they are still cheaper than any theater around. Highly recommend! read more

Went to today's $1 children's movie and had a great experience. There are two showings, one regular and one with dimmed lights and lower volume, which is great for the younger crowd or children with sensory needs. We enjoyed $1 drinks and popcorn as well. The theatre was clean with reclining leather/vinyl seats and the employees were very friendly! read more

I used to have a pretty tepid review of this place up here, but I am compelled to delete it because, since taking ownership, MovieScoop has invested heavily in what was once a decrepit old theater in a dying rural mall, and in danger of closing. New seats, new digital projection, renovated bathrooms, new carpets and numerous other upgrades and renovations have turned the place into a fun and welcoming venue. Best of all, their improvements and great specials (check their web site for various promotions, including discounts and free popcorn) have turned this place into somewhere you're likely to run into your friends, which is saying something. Finally, there is always enough staff to keep the lines moving and maintain everything to a high level of cleanliness--and these mostly young employees are always polite, friendly, and professional. I don't often thank businesses for doing what they do, but I offer my gratitude in this case: to everyone, from ownership down to the kid who cleans the bathrooms, thanks! I appreciate what you do. It might be the only theater in town, but it's not a good one. Seats are horrible quality and the floors usually sticky. Most of the time they only play 4 different films, but on the rare occasion they'll have 5 to choose from. The selection of films playing usually are either big budget titles or kid movies, so if it's not of one those be prepared to travel to another cinema (which is what I recommend). If you have a family they most likely won't care much about the theater's quality, and it being the only theater in town it's good enough. (You can add one point if you fall under this category.) Ticket prices are the same as those in nearby towns so I usually end up traveling 30+ minutes just to catch the latest flick. The time and money spent traveling is worth it to be in a nice quality theater. read more

Smelled like piss and the central air did not work. Solution was to use stand up fans right in the front row which was very distracting. Need to have the tickets discounted a lot to make up for the very dirty interior. I go out of my way before I go here due to numerous bad experiences. read more

This theatre is a blast from the past. Appears to be outdated when you walk in but it was clean. The theatre itself is not stadium like seating-everyone is on one level, set up like an actual auditorium. The seats seem somewhat clean but after a 2 hour movie they are a bit uncomfortable. The movie quality is above what you'd expect for the outdated ness of the theatre. Picture is actually really clear and the audio is very good. They have up to date movies that are currently out-but check online before you go because there are only 4 theaters. Only complaint I truly had was that a movie was $9.75, which seems kind of pricey for the condition of the theatre. Otherwise I was satisfied with the theatre for it being in such a small town. read more

The only movie theater shittier than this one was probably the old one at Regency Mall. Really hard to outdo this place in lameness; hasn't changed since the 80s, when I watched ET there. That's really a side note though. They will never show even the most remotely interesting movie, just your usual drivel. You're better off downloading it off the Internet or getting the DVD. read more

They did upgrades to the lobby but shortened the counter by about 10 feet. If only buying a ticket you are still stuck behind everyone buying food. Before you used to pay as you came in and they sold the food in different lines (as most theaters do). The college aged boy serving popcorn was busy half the time swiping his greasy hair out of his eyes THEN scooped popcorn - with no gloves on. (suggest hair nets and gloves) The fact they continued to let people into the movie 15 minutes after it was started was kind of rude and during the few quiet times - sitting in the back 6 or 7 rows you can hear the movie across the hall playing. Will save my money next time and buy the movie when it comes out for previously viewed movies - down the street at Family Video. read more

Not only did they lock the doors, so people could only get in one door, they refused to open the other doors to accommodate my disability. There was also feces on the toilet in the bathroom, and the manager said, "what do you want me to do about it." This place is deplorable. read more

This is the crappiest theater around. Unfortunately, it's also the only theater around, and the lazy, greedy owners are taking full advantage of this fact by charging premium prices for a deteriorating theater that hasn't been updated in decades. For one, the non-stadium seating is filthy, smelly and way outdated - I'm pretty sure these are the same seats I sat in to see Batman in 1989. The worst part is how many rows of seats they've crammed in here, with barely enough knee room for anyone over 5'11". It's very uncomfortable after about 30 minutes. Supposedly the sound system was updated in at least one of the 4 theaters at some point; however, the sound has been crappy for almost every film I've seen here recently. In particular, I suspect that their center channels are broken, or not configured properly, because dialogue is frequently muffled behind the surrounding music/sound effects are loud. It's ridiculous. But my biggest gripe is that their ancient screens have VERY distracting marks on them - seemingly a combination of rips/tears/seems/smudges. I don't know for sure, but it detracts from the viewing experience for every film. Not to mention that the projectionist invariably has the film out of focus. Carmike should be ashamed. read more
