One of the nicest and fullest markets in the area for some quick groceries. The prices are on the high side but the services , cleanliness, multitude of options and deli counter are 2nd to none. Less than 10 min drive from mi wuk and they are open today (4th of July) until 10. They've increased their liquor aisles and have a bunch of goodies from Cover's ranch. When we are too lazy to make the trek to Sonora this is my go to! read more

Twain Hart Market is a pretty cool little grocery store in Tuolumne! My family and I have been a few times while in the area visiting our friends. They have a nice selection of butcher meats and seafood as well as premade items and even sushi. One thing that stood out to me was the area where all of their cheese and meat items are - you could make a mean charcuterie board with what they have to offer. We will definitely be doing that next time we visit! The real winner though was the deli - we ordered sandwiches to take to the pool with us. They were made while we walked around and grabbed more items - we ordered The Tuscan, The Longhorn, The Classic and an Extreme Cheese. All four sandwiches were really good considering it wasn't some fancy sandwich shop. They use Boar's Head meats and cheeses too and we will definitely be ordering more sandwiches to try next time. What complete disappointment this deli has become. It used to be the best deli around and now after today's horrible experience, I will no longer go there for anything including the deli. You guys should spend some more time on hiring some competent workers for the deli so that they actually care about their job and how they perform their duties and treat their customers. Because of the young boys's attitude and incompetency today, I wasn't able to even eat lunch because I had no more time to go somewhere else since I ordered ahead of time and they got the order wrong in fact they not only got it wrong, but they never made it and they even put it under the wrong person's name. It shouldn't be that hard to find a simple person to make a simple sandwich. What a joke. read more

The market offers an excellent deli, fresh sushi made to eat, made to order sandwiches, and a very nice selection of take away foods. The produce is always fresh and ripe. The staff at Twain Heart Market are always friendly and make you want to go back. Twain Heart Market offers some of the best BBQ sauces that you can purchase. Every time I visit the market, I can't leave without one. The Market is always clean and is always being remodeled. I was given attitude from a woman when bringing my registered service dog in the store and told to hold him which is illegal in the state of California a service dog is required to be on the floor to preform their duties properly. Pleasantly surprised by the meat and bakery departments. Great grocery store, offers about everything you would need while away on a cabin vacation. If you're visiting and need a place to stock up, this is the place to do so. They close around 9pm, so the only food option in this area if you don't make it to a restaurant by 8pm. Clerks were helpful and friendly. Sadly, this grocery store is in an aging strip mall type structure that seems to have many empty storefronts however that doesn't take away from its helpful location and large offering of items. read more

Local grocery store, where if you are cooking in your unit, this is the place you want to hit up. I went to grab some items for my motel room and breakfast. Didn't feel like eating at a restaurant by myself. There are some yummy desserts at the deli, so I asked the clerk which is the local fan favorite? Winner is the peanut butter pie for $4.99 per slice. After a full day of snowboarding, that was my reward, OMG it was insanely good and rich! Grabbed a pistachio muffin for my breakfast and a banana. Prices are high, I think because of the remote location. Doesn't mean that I won't be back, because in the end, it's still cheaper then eating out. Fun fact. I had been asked to go grab only a few items the other night. Like only $20 worth of items. A few rows of 18ct. eggs, corn tortillas for pork chili dinner, a long candle lighter and milk. I go into this wonderful grocery market, and I was in awe of all the great items from my first step walking‍ inside. Quick glance, I locate my initial items to get. Then my attention roams over to many other items I wanted to enjoy and savor while out here visiting my mother. Sliced salami and cheese to go with the two bottles of wine I choose. I went to the deli and a very nice lady had given me the option to buy a big bag of sliced salami. I was hooked, had asked for the bag and thanked the lady for bestowing a full bag of thinly sliced salami. You rock, Butcher/ Deli lady. "S'mores Frenzy," was the topic out here for me while in Twain Harte. I always want s'mores while I'm in the woods. Local apple cider was appealing and so very tasty. So I obtain a cart, as I noticed I my hands were full and continued to grab other items. Checkout cashier was very courteous and swift with my check out. A great visit I had at Twain Harte Market. What a pleasant surprise -- a legit, full-on grocery store in BFE. Beats the heck out of our local Safeway.

One of my favorite grocery stores. It is slightly more expensive than Safeway / Vons, Walmart, but the selection is superb. Their fish and meat sections always have the best and freshest avaliable. I go here for all my sushi and sashimi needs. The staff are friendly, helpful, and most of all, very available. One time I went to pay and I'd forgotten my wallet. I was able to call my wife and have her pay with CC over the phone--savior. Beautiful place, and a gift to all living full or part time on the hill. read more

I know this market is expensive but I appreciate the fact it is close and not a chain. For that, I am willing to pay more. The sandwiches are yummy. I wish the other couple of times I had purchased them , the cashierhad asked if I had the stamp card for them. One day a young person asked if I had one and gave me one. I had no idea they even had a reward system. There are always lots of employees there and I never have to wait to checkout. The selection of food is good. read more

Today I walked in and asked for help picking out a cantaloupe because I had to throw away the last two I picked out. The manager, Jim, said "no problem, we can pick one out and cut in half to make sure it's ripe", which they did. He also picked out another one and showed me what to look for. When I got to the register there was NO charge! So honorable! This made my day! The store is a little pricey but well worth it and I will continue to shop here! This is an awesome market. The selection is great. Yes it's in the mountains and it's not a big chain store so they don't have big chain prices. But for a market in the pines in summer and snow in winter, it definitely is worth having it on my list of places to go. It's my place to find those hard to find items. And the cheese selection is like being in a specialty deli. Being Asian, I have never had an experience of feeling out of place there. I live full time in this area and I enjoy the openness and acceptance from the locals. Oddly I've have felt more rudeness and received lots of unfriendly stares at Asian markets especially in the Bay area. Holidays, especially in the summer, is a busy time here. Sometimes hard working people get tired too and may let their smile droop a bit, but if you take a moment and smile, I'm sure you'll get one in return. So rather than be bitter, show a little kindness and acceptance first and most people will respond in kind. I have worked in the public sector for 30+ years and dealt with the public. I have learned that the attitude one carries sets the atmosphere for whether you have a good or bad experience. Keep up the good work, Twain Harte Market rocks! read more

We have been shopping here for years. Now finally we get around to praising this wonderful market. Shame on us. From the full service meat and fish counter, to the great deli (don't forget to order a sandwich), now to the very complete produce dept, great selection of dry and canned goods, a very complete wine selection and so many in betweens. I mean lotsa really hard to find unique items. Sure miss the olive bar. Hope it's returns post COVID crapola. Fresh sushi which is quite good and varies with selection. I've been using this market for the last 8 years because it's the closest one to me. They have good selections but they don't keep track of their inventory. When I start buying a certain item, after a few weeks they run out of that item and fail to order more. I've talked to management but to no avail. Very disappointing... read more

This is a nice market with quality foods. That said, the pricing is absolutely absurd. Fine if you need a couple items but if you do your main grocery shopping here, you are just throwing money away for no reason.
