Woody has made some great products. We purchase a bench, which was an awesome addition to our…read moreentryway - when it finally arrived. The bench took 9 months and lots of nagging to finally have it arrived just before Xmas. We had put 50% down on the bench figuring he was a local business, and was trustworthy. Guess we should have known better considering the first experience. We decided to place a second order for an office desk and murphy bed frame. Woody asked for 50% down as he had done before. 12 months later, we have nothing. We continue to nag Woody with no results. We asked for our money back, and Woody has refused to give it to us. The receipt said nothing about non-refundable deposits. We're really disappointed. All I can say is buyer beware. If you purchase something from him - pay when it arrives. We're now 18+ months into nagging him for our furniture and have finally given up. We figured the best way to address this now is to let others know of his shady business practices.

We too are first time customers. Woody supposedly completed the deck on our cabin in Twain Harte,…read moreso we decided that Woody (Steve Kurgan, as he introduced himself as the owner of Woody's ) should finish off the deck by adding a gate to match. So we left a message on the front door of Woody's shop (since no one answered the door), to give us a call. He called us that same night. We made arrangements to meet him at our cabin the following weekend. He showed up late, and on the following day that we had scheduled to meet. We agreed that he would do the gate, and right away he insisted on an upfront cash deposit for material needed to start the job, in July 2015. We are now in October 2015, and still have not seen a gate started, even after he said he the gate was completed. We have made several calls and texted him many times for updates on the progress of the gate. Finally got a text that the gate was completed. He advised us to bring up the rest of the payment in cash and also went as far as saying that we would really like the finished product. When we pulled up to the cabin, hoping to see the new gate, there was NOTHING there. He seems to be delusional. Buyer beware, he is not trustworthy and will tell you lie after lie on why the project is not completed. DO NOT front him any money. I would beware of patronizing his business!

This place is a quaint little shop in quaint little Twain Harte. Sure, it's filled with a lot of…read moretouristy trashy items I'd never want to receive as a gift, but that's to be expected in a gift shop like this place. I wanted to give this place three stars, but it's lucky I can't go below one star. Here's why: 1. In spite of this place being filled with a lot of crappy items, it had some nice, soft fuzzy socks that my wife instantly fell in love with. For only $10, it's a reasonable price. Three stars so far. 2. Some women with a little girl came in, and the little girl accidentally broke a leg off of a crappy miniature house. I don't know if it was broken in the first place, but let's assume it wasn't. They owner/register guy decided to make the mom & her little daughter feel really bad about it, so they left. He wanted to make them pay for the item, but they had left too quickly. When my wife & I came up to buy the socks she wanted, he started to whine about his experience. It's not professional to complain about tourists/customers to other tourists/customers. I honestly don't care about all that drama. Minus one star. 3. He did't carry what we came in for: a bath towel, since we forgot to pack one, and the place where we were staying didn't have an extra one. No big deal. I asked him if he knew anywhere else in town that would sell a bath towel. He thought for a bit, confirmed what I was looking for, and said the only place nearby was WalMart over 15 minutes away down the valley via highway. "Nothing around town," he said. What a liar. I followed a hunch, and one of the only other stores in this midget town (Twain Harte Market, or whatever it's called) sells ALL KINDS of stuff, including full towel sets, bed linens, clothing, etc. To add insult to injury, this place is no more than a couple minutes away, and easily within walking distance. Minus all kinds of stars for that. So, like I said, this place has a few nice items, but from the lame and downright BAD service I received, it should be grateful I can't rate it less than one star. I'm not spending another dime in this store. And if you decide to go inside, you'll probably wonder, as I did, how the heck it can afford to stay in business with all the worthless crap it carries in inventory.
