24 East Asian Bistro, or "Bistro" as we all call it is an experience. Sushi is fine - too expensive for what it is - but the experience goes beyond. They often host large events for Lehigh University groups and sometimes can get a little loud and chaotic, but I think this is mostly limited to particular days/times. Think twice about bringing younger kids as there are sometimes drunk and rowdy college students. On the other hand, if you're looking to host your frat/srat or club to have a party-like dinner, it's great! Food is okay but in my experience has taken at least 45 mins to over an hour to get food. This is because there was only one sushi chef for the whole restaurant. Overall, definitely a great restaurant for some people, and a bad one for others. No, no, no...... turn around and leave. Here from out of town with a few gals. My friends had googled sushi and this place populated and we made online reservations. Positive Google reviews failed us. We walked in on Saturday night at 6:30pm and we were the only ones there. We would have turned right around and walked out but our table was set and they were waiting for us. Upon entering you get hit in the face by the musty smelling air conditioning wall unit to your left. We were seated in the dining room directly under another musty a/c unit and we asked to move tables. The food was bland and we really didn't want to eat raw options. My sushi was undercooked and my server was a climate change denier. I asked for aux, and started playing Carti leaks. Chef was pissed. Said I was part of the problem, that he would never drop an album if people kept leaking his shit. I digress. If you've ever wondered what it's like to be on kitchen nightmares, just ask the chef to borrow a phone charger. I paid about $30 for two fairly small rolls and then had the pleasure of defending my friend from the irate chef who started throwing things against the wall, claiming we stole said charger that remarkably never left its original position of the fucking wall outlet. We've never stopped in this little place and it was very close to Godfrey Daniel's where we had tickets for an 8pm concert. We got right in and we're greeted by the friendly server. There were only a few other couples there which was a bit worrisome for a Friday night, but the reviews were good so we figured we'd try. I was excited for sushi until I noticed the sushi chef making it with only one gloved hand. His right hand was bare and covered with 'ingredients.' I'm pretty sure that's a health code violation. Also, the baseboard heater behind our table was covered in dust and dirt which made me lose my appetite. I went with a noodle dish thinking it was safer than sushi. My husband got a few rolls anyway and said they were fine, nothing out of this world. I will say we had large portions, unlike some of the other reviews here. The noodles were thick and in a soupy liquid that didn't have much flavor. I added a lot of soy sauce. No one got sick so that's a plus! I'm just not sure we'd return. Or maybe we just didn't order their 'best.' My advice is to clean a little better and get a glove on that hand! The employees were lovely people, but for a dining establishment those are important aspects. read more

I was at Lehigh University doing some work for my company, so I decided to try some of their local asian food. I did not realized it was restaurant week. I was so excited to see they have some restaurant week special, three course meal for $15. I wanted to come here for sushi, but seeing there was the special, I had to get it! I ordered the teriyaki snapper lunch box, green tea, gyoza, and miso soup. Everything was pretty delicious, my stomach left happy. The only thing I would suggest is giving a slightly larger portion of the "main course" in the lunch box. In my head, all these food sounded like a lot, but I wasn't that full after I finished my food. I was just a little sad my snapper is so small, feels more like a snack. Maybe the portion is smaller for the restaurant week, who knows. But overall, I am really satisfied with the customer service and the quality of the food. I've go to Twenty Four every time I visit my boyfriend in Lehigh. We are native new yorkers, and there are many many sushi restaurants to choose from. We were a bit skeptical about visiting a college town sushi joint, but we were so wrong! The customers are mainly college kids, and they can be understaffed at busier times, so plan to go around 6-7. This sushi restaurant is delicious, authentic, and just a quick walk down campus. Most cheap sushi joints are staffed by koreans or chinese, but the sushi chef is genuinely a japanese sushi chef! But "Bistro" is something I look forward to reflecting on when I am an old man. Food wise: The portions of fish in sushi and sashimi tend to be small. With gratuity included, you're in for an expensive night unless you eat like a bird. However, with the amount of business this place gets, it is always fresh and the chefs are churn it stuff out at a fast rate. Our first visit and we went to get our sushi fix. My wife had the Godzilla roll and the shrimp tempura roll with salmon on top. She said they were amazing. Has been at least 3 years since I visited this place so we were surprised to find ourselves there after 9:30 on a first Friday in South Bethlehem. Our petite waitress said it had been slow since much of their business comes from students at Lehigh University. Ah, yes, I remember my college experience well. Dining on $2.75 sushi pieces, sipping my favorite Pinot Grigio. Oh wait, I think I was getting drafts for $.35 and getting a dozen clams for a buck. Anyway , memories aside, our meal was fantastic. Only two other tables were seated and the sushi chef was just beginning to relax. It goes without saying that you don't get the best sushi when the chef is harried and busy. We started with Beef Negamaki which was very good, not the best I ever had but very good indeed. Next up where four pieces of sushi that were all fantastic: tuna, white tuna, Maguro, and Yellow Tail. Each piece was a generous cut and laid across perfectly cooked sushi rice. Delicious. Blue Jewel, Viper and Jungle rolls came next and turned out to be the perfect trio of complementary flavors. The rolls were also priced right, $12. Some places charge $16 for a similar sized roll and will add an extra type of fish but in truth that just increases the price with almost no additional flavor benefit. These rolls had just 3 or 4 ingredients and maybe two fishes so the flavors jumped out. So, BYOB and be sure to visit when school is not in. read more

If you are craving sushi or just Asian cuisine in general, this is not a place I'd suggest. We were craving sushi one night and thought that the 900 positive reviews on Grubhub werean indication that the food here would be above average. We were wrong. Additionally, I need to know who these people are who gave such positive reviews. We ordered what came up to $70 worth of food: 6 sushi rolls (they claimed they were full size rolls) and 2 orders of dumplings. We thought this was a lot of food. Again, we were wrong. Each sushi roll was 6 pieces that were literally half the size of a normal sushi roll as were the dumplings. This was more or less lunchtime miniature portions. I have definitely paid less elsewhere and received more. A major disappointment and not worth the price. To make matters worse, we didn't received the correct sushi rolls we ordered, the accompanying salad was wilted and the miso soup...Well, let's just say the miso soup went straight down the drain. Needless to say we will not be ordering from this place again, and quite frankly we wish we could get our $70 back. read more

I was here a long, long time ago and I remember it being really good. So I recently went for restaurant week here. I first started with sushi, I kinda created my own, or put a twist on an existing tool. I got a shrimp tempura with avocado, and crab and eel sauce. It was terrible. The rice was way too over cooked, the avocado was mushy, and the eel sauce tasted like too much soy sauce. Then ordered the restaurant week Chicken teriyaki, it came with salad. The salad of course had the traditional ginger dressing, and it was very strong. I usually loved salad with ginger dressing but not this one. The chicken teriyaki was okay but barely had any sauce making it pretty dry. I did like the moochi green tea ice cream for dessert. The service was awesome but the food not so much. read more

The lunch specials are very cheap and come with both miso soup and salad. I recommend the Godzilla roll. They recently added new items to their menu: soondubu, a Korean soft tofu dish. 1st and last time there. Smallest portions I ever saw. I ordered tuna tartar which I get everywhere. The diameter was 2 inches and 1 inch high with diced avocado and $10. I also got a seafood salad. Pieces of fake crab, mackerel, octopus and 1 shrimp drenched in soy sauce. No other flavor or veggies for $9. I ..am absolutely starving an.d have to go home and make myself something to eat. My husband got sashimi platter. Again for the area smallest I have ever seen. My daughter's goyza and roll looked good. The rolls I saw at other tables looked ok. Definitely one of the top places of it's kind in the Valley. Some of the reviews are way too harsh. We've been here at least a dozen times. It's never been wildly inconsistent or ever outright bad, though it does get a little slower service wise if they are busy as hell during peak periods on Friday/Saturday nights. But, who doesn't? Only bad experience was when a huge pack of Lehigh students came in & basically took over the place. It wouldn't have been a big deal at all, but a handful of them were particularly loud & obnoxious, which made it impossible for anyone else in there to enjoy their meals. I have actually found this place to have some pretty good sushi for the Lehigh Valley. Their rolls are a decent size and have a good flavor to them, and the appetizers I have tried (the shrimp one and the chicken one - I can't remember the names because it has been a few weeks) were also quite tasty. The service here can be hit or miss - especially if you have a large group and come on a busy night. I have gone here with a group of six on a Saturday, with everyone ordering sushi, and been in the restaurant for over two hours. Note that this is without ordering drinks or sitting at a bar, as this place is BYOB. Be aware of that before walking in. As a note to another review of this place - I have also experienced that their take out is not that great. Full Disclaimer: Do not go here on a friday or saturday night unless you plan on making it a three + hour ordeal. My fiancee and i came here at 8:30 to grab some sushi before an 11:15 movie with a bottle of white wine in hand. I immediately noticed that a) this place was completely full and b) everyone seemed to have an alcohol problem since everyone there had brought a 1.5L bottle of wine for a two top or a case of beer/box of wine for a table. I soon realized why... To call this place SLOW is a gross understatement. On a saturday night in a 60+ seat place there was ONE guy making sushi and TWO servers. We waited a half hour to be seated (we had a reservation) and then over two hours to get sushi. Our bottle of wine by then was long gone (i had already looked up close liquor stores to see if i could reload) and many tables were starting to revolt and walk out. Needless to say, there was no hope of making our movie as we didn't get out of there until 11:30 (and we ate our sushi quickly since we were famished).
