We both ordered their delicious bubble tea (Japanese matcha and strawberry). My girlfriend got a double-order of their spring rolls, which she loved. I was presented with their Seafood Lobster Hi-Top and it was spectacular! The dish reminded me of a Vietnamese Fao meal and came loaded with an array of seafood: mussels, clams, lobster, shrimp, squid, octopus, fish, fishballs, and three types of mushrooms. My son was in the mood for hot pot and this was close to our hotel room. Walking in, it is not your traditional hot pot where you are paying for a buffet meal. You get to pick from a number of pre arranged ingredients of a hot pot and they will bring it out to you cooked over a small fire flame. My son got the beef hot pot for about $16 whereas my wife and I shared the Sichuan seafood and beef mix hot pot for $23. They were able to allow us to pick a different broth as we cannot take too much spice, so that was nice that we were able to customize. Really the ingredients they use are amazing and you really get a good variety of things. Of course at a hot pot place, you get to make your own sauce dipping. They have most of the usual sauce condiments but I do wish they have few others like garlic bits and things like parsley. For starters, we shared a pan fried vegetable dumplings which absolutely rocked. They were lightly fried and so so so good. For dessert, we got a slice of matcha cheesecake. That was just alright and the slice could have been a bit bigger. If you are not in the mood for hot pot, they also have other options like ramen. This was a new experience for our family. We are veterans of hot pot/shabu shabu, but the experience at Hi Pot was different. It advertises itself as a 'Taste of Taiwan' and is not like the AYCE hot pot places that have become all to common. Instead, Hi Pot offers ramen, boba, and Taiwanese style a la carte hot pot creations. Why 'hi'? My guess is because the hot pot is served on a stand that elevates the pot above table level and allows for a temporary heating element to keep your pot hot for about 10 minutes until the flame burns out. We ordered the veggie hot pot, the kimchee hot pot, and the chicken hot pot; along with some popcorn chicken (Taiwanese style) and some fries. The fries were overpriced, but my younger son was being picky. Each entree came out mostly cooked. Only the rice vermicelli needed some time to heat. My kimchee hot pot tasted like a mild version of the Korean classic kimchi jjigae. It came with a bowl of rice, but it wasn't needed. There was a variety of ingredients including imitation crab, two unpeeled jumbo shrimp, fish balls, cabbage, and kimchi (of course). Broth for all three were mild but flavorful. You could choose your spice level, but I opted for mild. It was a neat experience. Got Suchuan Spicy hotpot for $22. This place is 10/10 and blew my mind. Such varieties of meat and vegetables and they will adjust to any allergies of course. This was an amazing find in downtown Allentown. There are a number of eateries here and it looks like Allentown wants to grow this area. Hi Top is a Taiwanese restaurant specializing in hot pots. I think they have 15 varieties. Each hot pot comes is served hot and once it arrives at your table the server lights a heater underneath the hot pot to keep it boiling. There is a central meat of some type accompanied by a generous helping of other fish, crab, tofu,vermicelli etc. I had the lamb. It was great. Others in our party had appetizers. There were four containers with condiments on the table (soy sauce, chili oil, sweet chili and bean paste). Our party loved the appetizers. Service was outstanding. We were greeted immediately and the servers were on top of everything. I highly recommend this Hi Pot. However, I recommend that you avoid the nearby parking lot. We parked, downloaded the app, paid for parking and still got a ticket. If I lived closer, I would probably avoid this area just because of the parking hassle. I've appealed the ticket, but the bethpark.org website makes it clear that I may not receive a timely answer and I am liable for additional penalties if for some reason the appeal doesn't go my way. I've never had Taiwanese hotpot before so I thought to give Hi Pot a shot. Hi Pot is fast, delicious and very worth it! I ordered the Sichuan hot pot and could not get enough of the ingredients + broth. Unlike the typical hotpot restaurants, because your broth isn't boiling for a whole hour it doesn't ever get too salty/bitter to drink as a soup. I definitely appreciated being able to enjoy the entire dish! I also ordered the sacha beef just out of curiosity and it's the hotpot fatty beef but in a blend of chinese bbq/sacha sauce. I really like that you can get your own personal hotpot bowls here, and each bowl comes with a decent amount of food. We've tried the stinky tofu, Taiwan supreme, sichuan, and Tom yum. All were good! Tom yum had that tangy flavor, Taiwan supreme was more beef-based, and sichuan was a different kind of spicy flavor. I like spice and "very spicy" was the right amount for me. Maybe one day, I'll try the max level but for now, I'm good with very spicy. Mango sago for dessert after all the soup was such a refreshing flavor. Can't wait to come back and try their other pots. We came here after a cold ski trip, and it was one of the more authentic experiences with Taiwanese Hot Pot. The Staff was friendly, caring, and even gave us a free drink! Each Taiwanese Hot Pot comes with its unique offers of self-serve broth with an array of fresh ingredients. It comes out on a burner, and as you're eating the fire continuously burns the soup. Usually, the mediocre places have less flavorful broth or a bad combination of ingredients, but this one really was authentic. We got the curry, original, and the Cheese Milk Hot Pot. Spend a little more get a little more. Very solid overall. Has a little kick (spice) to it. Beef hotpot: tasty broth, lots of different items, just wished there were more noodles. You get a tiny hair knot and it goes away in a bite. Tonkatsu ramen: this was the weakest of the 3 that I tried. Came with an egg that was cooked nicely, fungus, seaweed, naruto, and green onions. The noodle was decent could have been better but I enjoyed the creamy broth. however compared to the hotpot broth it was much less flavorful. Honestly not bad overall.
