I loved stopping real quick after early morning mommy group. Bbb was asleep and I had 20lmin to spare. Stepped in and wished I had an hour! So many neat crochet and sewn items. The knitting lady Sandy was very kind and welcoming. She shared some tips just as susan (sewing g teacher). They both run classes and their fees are reasonable. The storetfront has some nice items displayed which reeled me in. The yarn is fabulous and the back half of the stote is all fabric ... my obsession! Hence I need at least another visit to spend an hour to pick some fabrics for a special project! read more

My all time favorite yarn shop. They have a large collection, a very knowledgeable staff and everyone is very helpful and friendly. They sell some fabric too, though the collection is small it is pretty fun and unique. Knitting, crocheting and sewing classes are available as well as kits for versions projects. If you are looking for a new hobby, stop on by. People hang out and knit on Wednesday and Friday nights and it's a great time to get help, or just shoot the s***. read more

I swung in here today when I was in Nashua on an errand - their front window is very eye-catching, which made me aware that a new yarn store had moved into the 100 Main St building! (Okay, apparently it's been here for a year or so.) I was a huge fan of Ewe'll Love It, so I was excited to stop in and find an LYS closer to my house. How very disappointed I was by the time I left. The name of the store should have alerted me to the fact it was fabric first and yarn a distant second. The yarn selection was oddly arranged, with stray baskets of yarn placed away from the main section of that particular yarn weight. The table in the middle of the seating area had a jar of knitted ornaments on it that looked interesting - but no tags with pattern information or notes about it on the table. I finally decided to pull up my Ravelry queue so I could find something in the list I could pick up yarn for, or find a use for a particularly gorgeous three skeins of Malabrigo Mecha I found tucked into a basket.. only to find the store didn't offer wi-fi. At the very least, there was no network I could access without a password that would work, and there were no signs about it. Yes, I realize I could have asked the shopkeeper about the ornament patterns or the wifi or pattern ideas, but that would have involved knowing where she WAS. I was greeted a minute or two after I came in, and then she vanished somehow into the small shop, nowhere to be found. I lingered longer than I otherwise would have, hoping she would reappear, but eventually gave up. I think it's the first time I've ever gone into a yarn shop and not bought a single thing. I'll continue to make the trek out to Wilton when I need yarn. The extra few miles is worth the far better yarn selection and welcoming attitude of the shop there (and their wi-fi for looking up patterns on the fly). read more

I'm a beginner knitter having difficulty getting started so decided to get some help. The owner, Sandy, was great. She helped me pick out a great "beginner" yarn and the appropriate needles. I was very interested in what this store had to offer. It was before I got my own functioning sewing machine, so I was interested in the store's concept, wanted to see what fabrics they had, etc. There was one person working with a customer when I went in and I was not greeted. I wasn't initially sure who worked there and who didn't. Ok, they were busy. There were long gaps in their conversation, the sales person walked around-away from me-but they picked right back up where they left off. So I looked at fabric to wait for an opportunity to talk to the sales person. Was the place appointment only? After feeling invisible and awkward, I left. It was only when I was at the door when the sales person invited me to come back. Really? For what? I don't think so. read more

Twill is a fantastic fabric and yarn shop. They have an extensive selection of yarn and modern fabric you won't find in most stores. It is wonderful to stop in and shop and work on my crochet and knitting projects. Friday night is "project night" when many customers come in with their project and work alongside others completing projects of their own. I find it inspiring to see the lovely items being made around me. I often end up trying out patterns others have made myself! The owners are very knowledgeable in their areas of expertise. One is an expert knitter and the other specializes in all things fabric related, garment making, quilting, and many other fabulous fabric based projects. I wrote a review right after Twill opened, so I thought I would update my review. After a year, this store has improved so much. Sandy's selection of yarn and needles shows a fine eye for what knitters today want. There are lots of hand-dyed yarns and the ones I have purchased have been so nice. My 20 year old daughter agrees with me. Sandy also has a great price-range of yarns which always appeals to knitters. Sandy has added new lines of needles which was needed. Susan runs the sewing part of the store and her selection of fabrics even makes a non-sewer want to learn to sew (me). I am so happy Nashua has such a warm and welcoming place for people who want to create beautiful handmade items. Sandy has many classes for knitters and there is a Friday night knitting group and others also. I am not sure about the sewing classes, but my friend did make aprons there so I know that is possible. The cutest gift certificates are now available and I got one for Christmas; lucky me. Twill is a store that hopefully will be around a long time. My only regret is that it hasn't been open since I started to knit because then I needed a lot of hand-holding and I know that Sandy would have helped encourage me. read more

What a find! Wonderful fabrics, amazing yarns and classes to help you learn how to make things out of them if you don't already know how. The women who started this store are so welcoming that I immediately felt like an old friend. They have project nights that are a wonderful group of all levels with snacks and friendly banter. They have encouraged me to start sewing again and step up my knitting a notch or two. I love this place! read more

While I love the thought of given a local business my business I'd rather travel over and hour for a mom and pop store then go here again. I have given Twill two chance's. The first about a year ago I was looking for yarn, inspiration and a knitting class (I crochet). There was not another soul in the store besides the owner, me and myself when I went in. I tried asking her questions about knitting classes I got very short curt responses and felt like she didn't want to deal with me. I brushed it off and continued looking at yarn. Another women came in and she was ironically asking about knitting classes and the owner engaged with her and answered questions in length. I decided I would leave without purchasing anything even though I saw yarn I was interested in. My husband even mentioned how the owner was to me. The second time I decided I was going to try a knitting pattern that had video tutorials. I needed needles and was also looking to see if they carried a certain brand of yarn so I tried calling left a message and tried messaging them on Facebook. That was June 4th I have not had a reply still to this day. read more

After speaking with some coworkers about how much they liked this store, I found myself with some time on a Saturday and a new pattern I was itching to try. I decided to give them a second chance, and I was pleasantly surprised. I was greeted promptly and they took an opportunity to show me several worsted weight options for what I wanted to knit. I selected a color, and the owner of the shop rang me up for my purchases. She was significantly more outgoing and approachable and took time to talk with me about my purchases and ask where I was from and if I came in before. It totally improved the impression I got the first time and I'm glad I gave them another shot. I've since been in another time and the owner remembered me and was just as personable as the last time I had been in. Much better experience! read more

This store is amazing. Beautiful yarns and fabrics, calming atmosphere and unique selection. But I am prompted to write this review because of the awesome service. I went into the store today unprepared and they let me log into my Pinterest account find my patterns on their computer. Then helped me select colors. Some yarn stores make you feel really intimidated, regardless of your ability. This store moved to the top of my list today with their courtesy and overall welcoming approach. Made my day. read more

I was looking to pick up knitting after a 10-year hiatus. After becoming completely overwhelmed at Michaels, I decided to check out a local store, which is how I found Twill. The minute I walked in the door I knew I'd come to the right place. I was greeted by Sandy, a co-owner, who completely understood my very basic level of knitting, printed me a basic baby blanket pattern, and helped me pick out an absolutely gorgeous cantaloupe baby merino silk yarn and needles, all for a very reasonable price. Then, Sandy did exactly what I'd hoped she would do - she sat me down on a very comfy sofa & taught me how to cast on & knit my first rows. I stayed for a couple of hours & when I skipped a stitch, Sandy showed me how to fix it. She even offered me tea. I felt like she wanted me to learn something that was important to her, not just sell me yarn and send me on my way. She invited me to her "knit with an expert" classes on Thursday afternoons or Saturday mornings (only $10/class). You would not get this level of customer service, or one-on-one commitment at a box store. read more
