Fantastic vet. Been to some great vets in three states but this is by far the best. Love them.

His practicality, doesn't insist on thousands of dollars of tests that don't change the outcome or treatment of a disorder. My animals are very relaxed around him and like him. Sometimes it is time for a pet to pass away. In those circumstances he and his staff have been very kind and compassionate in having to put to sleep a beloved family member. We have to drive more than half an hour to use him and consider it well worth it.

Two hours later, I sat by my daughter's side as we watched the breath slowly leave this poor lamb's body. The lamb was born with Spina Bifida, but under my daughters care she was growing, thriving and learning to walk. This lamb was in good health, she was breathing strong and full of life and energy when my wife and daughter drove her to the vet. Now she is dead. I called the vet and he refused to accept any responsibility. When I told him the lamb was in good health before she went to the vet, he told me I was not a vet and therefore did not have the medical knowledge to make that statement. He said he gave the lamb the shot because she had a slight fever. He did not check the lamb's heart, nor take any other vitals, and he did not weigh the lamb until after he gave her the shot. It turns out that he did not give the lamb a simple antibiotic, but Resflor Gold which is used to treat BRD (Bovine Respiratory Disease). Not only did the lamb not have this disease, but the vet gave her 1.5 ml BEFORE he weighed her. The most a lamb her weight should have received was .84 ml. The vet almost doubled the dosage she should have received. I may not have a veterinary degree, but I know a lamb that is breathing strong, one that is full of energy and only has a slight fever, even one with Spina Bifida, does not simply waste away and die in two hours time. Please do not take you animal to this incompetent vet!

I am writing this review to ask everyone to ignore the previous review that I left earlier today…read moreregarding this animal clincs phone procedures, which I misunderstood. Brookville Animal hospital is a VERY professional animal hospital, and they WILL take EXCELLENT care of your pets needs. They did NOT deserve the bad review that I left due to my own foolish impatience.

They were very helpful to update us on local laws and were able to get our dog licensed. Our dog was already older when we moved to Brookville. When she started experiencing symptoms, they were very compassionate when I came in without an appointment. They could tell our dog was in distress. They immediately got her in and went over how they would examine her. Unfortunately, we discovered our dog had an enlarged spleen and mass that was crowding our organs and was causing her great pain. Dr. McPherson went over our options. If we did only pain meds, her spleen would likely burst and she would bleed to death. Because of her age, it was likely she wouldn't survive surgery. I reluctantly decided the best option was to put her to sleep. Dr. McPherson and Dr. McKinsey were so compassionate. They gave me the time I needed to comfort our pet, and then to mourn her loss as she went to heaven. I highly recommend the hospital. They were there for us in our time of need.

We've been going here for years with our past and present labradors. Luckily, we've only had to…read moretake them in for a couple sick appointments over years, other than that it's just been their yearly check ups. This was our first emergency. When we have had to call for illnesses, etc...it always seems to be the same woman that answers the phone. She is the reason we have decided to leave. Our labrador recently had a bowel obstruction. He suddenly began vomiting large amounts of poop one Thursday evening. I called the vet first thing in the morning at 8 AM, when they were supposed to be open. No one answered until 8:20 AM. The receptionist sounded like I had woken her up and very put out that I was bothering her. I explained that the dog was vomiting poop, would not eat a single bite, would not drink, hadn't pooped that day and didn't really want to get up at all. She said the doctors weren't in yet and she would call me back. At 8:45 AM I got a call back. She offered an appointment at noon, but I felt he could not wait until noon and asked if I should just take him to an emergency vet somewhere? I felt I had to plead my case as to why it was an emergency that he be seen right away. I told her I was concerned he had a bowel obstruction. The receptionist finally, after going back-and-forth with the doctors, begrudgingly agreed to let us bring him in. After that, the entire visit was stressful because we felt like we had forced them to see him. He did have a bowel obstruction and had to have surgery. We were happy with the physicians and their interactions with us and his treatment. He seemed like he had recovered well until he began having the same exact symptoms two weeks later. I called and it was the same receptionist Who answered. Speaking like I woke her up and she's annoyed that I am trying to make an appointment. She does not seem to care about animals at all. When asking questions she has to put you on hold and ask the doctor, which is fine, but I have a hard time believing that the doctor knew that he was vomiting poop again after having bowel surgery for an obstruction, and was not concerned. During this particular conversation, I explained that he had just had surgery two weeks ago and was having the same exact symptoms as before. I asked if it was OK if I gave him some nausea medicine or if they recommended I didn't? She said the doctor said I could give him the nausea medicine but if he puked again to bring him back in. That was at 3 o'clock. I gave him the nausea medicine and he vomited immediately after so I called back and told the receptionist what had happened. At this point it was 3:40 so the receptionist didn't offer for me to bring him in because they close at 4. I asked if the doctor knew that he was vomiting poop? And she said "yes, I told them last time you called." I asked if they were concerned that he could have a twisted bowel after the surgery he had and she said "no, that hardly ever happens in dogs, but I'm no doctor." I don't know about dogs, but in humans a twisted or obstructed bowel can be life threatening. I said, "if he continues to vomit like this throughout the night should I just come first thing in the morning? And she said she had an opening at 11." So if anything surgical needs to be done, he would have to go to a different vet because they close at noon. Because of this one receptionist, we decided to start going to a different veterinarian. I don't wanna have to feel like I have to plead my case as to why my dog needs to be seen, especially when I know that it's an emergency. It is very disappointing because we like the doctors. I actually felt guilty like we had forced them to see our dog. And he probably would be dead if I hadn't. luckily This is the only time we've had an emergency. But the few times I have had to have them seen for illness over the years. It's often been the same receptionist and it's just not worth the stress when we can easily go somewhere else

As soon as i got home i noticed she had a burn on her belly, i knew this couldnt be caused by my heat LAMP. cause i do not use heat mats. I looked them up and contacted them from the email they had on their website. They never responded. i took her to the vet and ended up spending $60. She got better, but she refused to eat, i offered her weekly until it got so bad i had to take her to the vet yet again, this vet trip cost $230. I wasn't able to get her full diagnosis because i needed to get x-rays and couldn't because they cost $1000s . But the vet did confirm that she had some sort of issue with her kidneys , they were swollen and blocking her stomach so she couldn't eat. They said it might even be cancer but would definitely be a problem with the breeding. They said she was probably bred with snakes that had health issues or was inbred, or both. they fed her a protein mixture but she still refused to eat solid foods. Sadly today she passed away. I'm outraged that these people sold me a sick animal, knowing how she is she has probably never even eaten a day in her life and still they sold her to me. Either did not have updated contact service or out right ignored me when i contacted them multiple times. This is a reminder to do your research on the breeder you're purchasing from but to also report breeders that are unethical and leave bad reviews. If you check their website their "care" sheets (if u can even call them that.) for Boas is downright harmful. They say a 55 gallon is plenty when that almost isn't even enough for a kenyan sand boa and they only get 3ft!!! Clearly they used heat pads which are also bad for the health of reptiles and CLEARLY they do not care about their animals. NEVER EVER BUY FROM HERE! i'm disgusted.
