Given the bad reviews online I thought it was going to be a disorganized process and unbearable long wait. It wasn't that way at all. They take 15 walk-ins every morning. I arrived 8:15am was number 7. Any by 9 am all of us were up on the second floor waiting to be processed. Two windows were open and they were both nice and courteous (I listened in on the people ahead of me). It took 30 minutes to process all my papers that need notarized and I was out by 9:45 am. I was given a receipt and told to return in two weeks to pick up the notarized documents. No need to make appointment just show the receipt to the guard. The place is definitely an upgrade from the old Montgomery location. Seats were comfortable and it was very roomy. Bring a book to read and chill. Have some patience and you will get your questions answered.

Health Check 2. FBI Report 3. Birth Certificate 4. Parents' marriage certificate 5. Parents/relative Taiwan household registration With all 5 documents obtained and translated in Chinese, it was time for SF TECO to authenticate all the documents! MAY 1, 2024: AUTHENTICATING DOCS No appointment was required to authenticate documents. SF TECO suggested I arrive as early as possible, so I went before 9am, and was #3 in line. I filled out an Application Form For Authentication, and these were the items required for authentication: Birth Certificate FBI Summary Parents' Marriage Certificate Health Certificate My U.S. passport My Taiwanese passport Both my parents' Taiwanese passports Postage stamps to get your authenticated documents mailed to you SASE envelope, or just pay for the one they give you $90 (bring cash, otherwise you'll go through the hassle of Zelle or find an ATM) Note that the household registration is not required for the authentication appointment. That will be needed for the temporary permanent resident card appointment. One week later, I got all my authenticated documents in the mail, and was ready to schedule an appointment for my temporary permanent resident card with rep Sabrina Wu, who seems to be the main point of contact for all things PRC-related at SF TECO. JUNE 12, 2024: APPOINTMENT FOR TEMPORARY PERMANENT RESIDENT CARD Before my appointment, I emailed Sabrina to confirm that this was everything I needed: Authenticated & translated Birth certificate Authenticated & translated FBI Check Authenticated & translated Health Certificate Authenticated & translated parents' marriage certificate Household registration My US passport My Taiwan passport Both of my parents' passports At least $31 cash Although she confirmed over email everything looked perfect, my appointment at SF TECO could have gone more smoothly. Once I arrived at my 9am appointment time, I was blindsided by being told to fill out a whole new application form in Chinese, AND I needed a passport photo. I had to go to Walgreens to get some passport photos taken, AND pay extra on top of what I was instructed to pay for my appointment. At least I brought extra cash this time. And still had plenty of leftover postage stamps from my last appointment. It was annoying, but at least Sabrina was kind and great to work with, and was understanding of all the effort and time I put into this arduous process. After everything was processed and paid, now it's time to wait 6-8 weeks for my temporary permanent resident card to arrive in the mail and look into booking a flight to Taipei within the next 6 months. There was this display explaining the next steps, which boils down to: Enter Taiwan with Taiwanese passport and temporary PRC Take temporary PRC to the service station of the Immigration Agency to exchange it for the real PRC-roughly 3 business days Bring new PRC to the local household registration office closest to the address listed on your family's household registration to apply for registration and get an ID card-roughly 1 business day Go to Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Bureau of Consular Affairs to apply for updated Taiwanese passport with a National ID number on it, as you'll need this to leave Taiwan-roughly 10 business days.

Full review: We were planning a 3 week honeymoon to Italy and wanted everything to be perfect! Even though we are both totally internet research people, we've never planned a trip of this scale (or this meaningful to us!) and we thought that having a travel agent might help. We actually started off with another agent who offered honeymoon planning as her wedding boutique. After months and months of waiting for her to pay attention to us and getting nervous that nothing was done and regretting not just doing it ourself on the internet, she finally realized that she had too much on her plate and handed us off to Courtney. Boy was that night and day! From the first conversation with Courtney, she put me at ease, quickly assessed what was important to us and what the urgent planning priorities were and got started right away. Since we were behind schedule, she got going immediately. She provided us several options for airfare the next day, and we had that booked within 48 hours. Hotel section for our 4 city excursion seemed so daunting on our own, but Courtney really helped us out by listening to what were were looking for, sorting out severals recommendations, and then adjusting based on our feedback. She even looked into a couple of the hotels we had found on our own that we were excited about. After we made our final selections for hotels, she got them all booked, zero effort on our end, and proceed to investigate transport between all our ground destinations as well as activities! Everything was quick and efficient but not overwhelming. She answered calls and emails quickly, always addressed all of my questions (unlike many of my wedding vendors who would answer one part and ignore the 5 other questions!), and was generally a joy to work with. At the end of the our planning process, Courtney gave us a detailed itinerary of exactly where we needed to be, how we would get there, with times, payment confirmations, itinerary numbers, detailed accommodation information. Everything we could need in one handy pdf. I couldn't have put together a better resource myself! At the end our our trip, our airline went on strike, grounding all the flights for several days---which of course we had NO CLUE about in our honeymoon bliss! Courtney discovered this, emailed us to make sure we were aware of it, and how it might or might not affect us, and gave us instructions of what to do if it did. While it turned out we were on the flight right after the planned strike ended, had I not known in advance, I probably still would have been worried about what to do, and I was so grateful to have someone at home looking out for me with helpful information. All of this is to say, Courtney was truly fantastic to work with. She went above and beyond, and made our trip planning far easier and more streamlined.
