A couple days ago on 4th of July, me and my Bf wanted to try a new ice cream place around the Fox Valley area after swimming at Plamann lake and we decided to try the Twist here in Greenville. Even though I used to live not far from here. Service was lightning quick and we got our ice cream right away plus it was only 9 dollars total between the 2 of us. Very good prices. My wife and I have been locals going on 6 years now. Being ice cream connoisseurs, enjoying the tastes that Wisconsin has to offer, Door County ice cream, bricks in the north woods, and Kopp's down south, we know what it takes. The service is great. Staff is mainly, if not all high school/college age, but they are very nice, polite, and listen to your orders. The drive through can take a bit at times, so if driving up and there's a long line, go into it with some patience. Overall the ice cream and selection is good, not great, but good. It most definitely gets you over a craving for ice cream, but without that WOW factor as other places I've mentioned. Another point I'd like to say is the toppings in the flurries could be a LOT more generous. A recent Twix flurry of mine, 98% vanilla ice cream, 2% Twix. I think the people leaving one-star reviews on here are forgetting this place is SUPER local and usually has teenagers as its employees. I love this place, and so does my boyfriend. It's a couple blocks from our house and is always such a treat. The bacon cheeseburgers, fries, and cheese curds are really good. As far as ice cream goes, the "s'mores sundae" is the BEST! Just make sure you get there before 8:00 PM if you want food (they close at (9:00 PM), and take into consideration that the drive-thru may be slow (you have to order at the window). Another local business that I wanted to love, but fell short of my expectations. I read the other reviews about less than stellar service. Thought - "how can the service be bad? It's ice cream!" Well, it proved to be true. There were 2 high-school/college-aged girls behind the counter ready to take our order. However, they appeared highly annoyed by our presence. They continually gave us the evil eye as we asked our son to wait to place his order until the rest of the family was ready. The ice cream was fine, but nothing that I'd go out of my way to try. They have various options - sundaes, cones, flurries (in a variety of combinations) as well as food (burgers, etc). Our total bill was $10 for 2 small flurries and a small cone. Typical ice cream shop prices. As mentioned in other reviews, this store only accepts cash or check. They also have a flavor-of-the-"week"; however, the only way to know the flavor is to go into the store. They do not have a FB page or website with it listed. The sign out front advertised other deals, but did not state the flavor either. Like everyone else I like supporting independent local places. Unfortunately, this is not going to be it in future. Went to drive through 8 cars in front of me. It took 27 min to get window. 3:21 of them I waited behind car in front of me at window while cashier chatted with people in car. They had all their items and change when I started counting. 2 young girls working and not very friendly. Seemed to be annoyed at my order. Will not be back!!! read more

I really want to like this place because it's so close to home and I also like supporting local business but I can't get by a few things. First off the employees are very cold (pun intended) and rude. An ice cream shoppe should have a fun atmosphere and these girls make you feel like you are an annoyance to them. Not even a smile or a thank you. Secondly, they don't take credit cards. Give me a break. It's 2016. I would guess the amount the owner claims on his taxes and actual profit are two totally different amounts. Bite the bullet and allow people to pay with credit. I am surprised they don't accept clams. Thirdly, every time I've come here I've tried to order some French fries with our ice cream and every time I have been met with a snarky, "the grill is closed" response. Step up and keep the grill open for the same hours as you serve ice cream. Like I said, I've really wanted to like this place and every time we give it another shot we leave feeling depressed. I would give them a negative 5 stars for service. The three girls working were so extremely rude. My friend and I walked in and never had been there so we were looking at the menu. All three girls were staring at us so rudely and we felt so uncomfortable. When I started ordering and talking to one of the girls, she started talking to one of the other workers about some gossip. We just moved here and found this place. I absolutely love their turtle sundaes and their giant M&m cookie ice cream sandwich! The cookies on the ice cream sandwich taste home made. This place has so much potential for being the perfect spot to take the family out for ice cream. I grew up nearby and have had good experiences at the Twist until today. I called the Twist earlier this morning to place a large order of Twist Bars 2 days in advance. The owner picked up the phone and said "I have to go to the bank" and abruptly hung up. I gave her the benefit of the doubt and called back later in the morning to find some sort of apology from the owner and place the order. The owner found no sympathy and explained that she gets 10 type of administrative type calls and doesnt have the time to deal with everything. She was extremely rude and I explained that if I were running a business I wouldnt turn down a +$100 order and hang up on customers. She again said she didnt have enough time and I told her that she can expect one fewer call going forward. She said that was fine and hung up. I've never written a review before on Yelp but found this experience to be so negative and frustrating that she needs to be called out for it. The owner needs to look at selling this place if she is unwilling to put in the work of owning a business. It's too bad the high schoolers that she employs outclass and outwork her. The Twist has by far the best soft serve ice cream, It is so much smoother and more flavorful than the others around the valley. The soft serve is OK, been to the shop twice in the last few weeks and always packed, but service is very slow. I think they just have high school kids working and running the show. Management/Owners did show up after I was in line for 30 minutes. Note, can take upwards of 30-45 minutes inside or at drive through to get service. I don't know if they know how to plan staff to support their peak volumes. The person running the register and collecting cash and coins, they don't take credit cards , was also filling customer orders and not washing their hands. Yuck. The Twist is a great local business. Many locals in Greenville have grown up with this establishment. It is a town favorite! At least for me. It is understandable for customers from out of town to be less than satisfied. I have read through many complaints on Yelp for the Twist and I would like to maybe shed some light on the situation: First, I've heard many are unsatisfied with the fact that they do not take cards. Cash or check only. "It's 2016! Time to get with the program!" Well, the owners of the Twist are older and quite frankly, set in there ways. Not much had ever really changed there. They are sweet people who have the business how they want it. Locals know to pay with cash or check. A card machine will most likely not be put in until said owners pass the business on completely to the next generation. Next, people often complain that the staff is rude and have bad service. I can't really argue that The Twist girls have lost their good rep. They can act rude and/or annoyed. However, not EVERYTHING is their fault. They are instructed not to do certain things like put sprinkles in quarts, put chocolate chips in shakes, put extra crunch on the side of your cone, etc. They are taught to do things a certain way. So that's how they do it. It's like you are taught your ABCs in a certain order. You don't put Y after Z. Finally, some are annoyed by the lack of interaction with customers online. The Twist doesn't have a website or active FB page. Well, the establishment just isn't 'modern.' There is no computer access at the Twist, everything is done on paper there. They have a system and that system works. Greenville is a small town. People around here know to. check the sign for the flavor of the week when they drive by. They know that flavor changes every Tuesday. They know hot food ends at eight. They know to order at the window. The Twist is a small town business, not a nationwide company. They don't need computers for people to know what's going on. No, the Twist is not perfect. They are not always convenient and unfortunately cannot cater to your every little need. But the Twist is a town trademark. A familiar, community loving little ice cream shop owned by a great family. If you have ever been inside, you know there is a huge cone mural on the wall displaying photos from just as recent as high school prom 2016 to as old as when they first opened around 20 years ago. There are numerous team pictures of the Little League T-Ball team they sponsor every year. There's a little door bell at the drive through window that, for some reason, plays jingle bells when you push it. There's a pink gum ball machine in the lobby that always got you so excited to put a quarter in when you were a kid. The Twist is a big part of my childhood as well as it was for many others in the community. Focus on the little things. Don't complain because they aren't up to your millennial standards. read more
