The seafood boils are served with potatoes, corn, and garlic bread. You have a choice of the twist special sauce (spice level is adjustable) or garlic butter; both are delicious. The seafood is very fresh here; I've tried all types - shrimp, crawfish, clams, snow crab, king crab, lobster, mussels, and cuttlefish. I've never had a bad meal here and would highly recommend this place if you enjoy seafood. I've also tried their baked oyster appetizer which is phenomenal. My quest for the best oyster happy hour brought me to the doors of Twist - a fun, low key seafood restaurant in the heart of the industrial food desert of 3rd ave Sunset Park. Surrounded by grimy warehouses, mechanic shops and other industrial endeavors, Twist seafood is a fantastic restaurant that I believe everyone who lives in 40 block radius should be frequenting. Although initially I came here for the happy hour oysters, I'm so glad that I stayed for more. I situated myself at the bar and asked for a dozen oysters. These oysters were fresh but a bit on the smaller side. I do wish more thought and finesse went in to the oysters like a nicer sauce selection. They should definitely take notes from the oysters happy hour at Siren. Perhaps it was my enthusiasm slurping them away that made the kind lady shucking them ask me if I would like a dozen more? Hell yeah is the only appropriate response to such thoughtful questions. I washed down the oysters with a crisp glass of Allagash and in that moment decided why not order an entree too? I'm so happy I went with the New Zealand mussels prepared in their house special spicy butter sauce because Oh. My. God.... First of all, I have never seen a mussel this meat and gooey and fat and delicious. A literal shell fish lover's dream??? The sauce was decadent and spicy and aromatic and all the things a seafood boil sauce should be. The potatoes were steamed perfectly. The corn? What a delight to find this spot ! Hidden in a neighborhood that dont have many restaurants. So glad the bf suggested this spot for father's day dinner. We came pretty late with no RSVP and was seated right away. I must say they have really good cocktail drinks here ! We ordered a few to try and really fell in love with the coconut martini! The seafood boil is very straight to the pt, i really enjoyed the "medium" sauce that we got on the side, and my bf and bro both enjoyed the garlic oil sauce. Comes with garlic bread for dipping! Just ordered from them I ordered from them before this time was really bad. The food was ice cold when I received it. I ordered a chicken sandwich on a bun with french fries like I said it was ice cold. Also, I wanted to try the lobster soup because I did read about the reviews they said it was delicious. It was warm. It wasn't hot at all, and I took one spoonful of it and it tasted like someone put a whole bottle of salt in it. It was horrible. I didn't even eat it. I just called the lady up from the store and let her know and she says oh I'm sorry and that was that nothing else and I will never order from them again. My friend and I decided to check out Twist Seafood and Bar around 5:30pm on a Sunday. If you're in Brooklyn to check out Industry City, you should definitely stop by Twist! They have happy hour on the weekdays but we went on a Sunday so were not able to partake. The outdoor dining area is quaint and lovely, especially since the surrounding area is not too busy. Tables are socially distanced and they make good use of the call button for service (the last time I've seen those was in Korea!). We ordered clam chowder ($6), 1 pound of clams with garlic butter sauce ($14), and a lobster roll ($15). The meal also came with complimentary garlic bread, which was warm, flavorful, and the perfect crisp level. In fact, everything at Twist had great flavor! For the clam chowder, they did not skimp on the clams, and they were huge and juicy (see picture!). My only critique was that I thought the soup base could've used a touch more seasoning. All seafood used in the dishes we ate tasted fresh and delicious. The lobster roll also had a generous serving of lobster. At first, I was worried the clams were not going to be enough for me, but the mix of clams, potatoes, and corn was more than enough. The next time I stop by, I may try the mild hot sauce instead of the garlic butter. My stomach is a little sensitive to an overpowering butter flavor, and was starting to get slightly queasy. Overall, I thought that Twist offered seafood at reasonable prices with generous servings. I'm sure they will do well post-covid, but are also operating in a covid-safe manner. They have booths set up inside a open structure with a roof and 3 sides covered which was great so you don't have to worry about rain or breathing in exhaust fumes from cars driving by. The food unfortunately was just ok. Maybe I came on an off day since there are so many other reviews raving about the quality of the seafood. I ordered the king crab and clams combo with twist sauce and my friend ordered the snow crab and shrimp combo with garlic butter sauce. We both agreed that the king crab and snow crab meat was very salty on it's own. Usually, the meat itself is sweet. The shrimp was fine but my clams were small and had quite a bit of sand in them. Snow crab bag had 5 legs (what they call "one cluster") for $38, with two clusters the price is $62 (in other restaurants one portion is one crab (10 legs) for about $35) . Pretty solid seafood resturant, always drive by when going to Costco but never had chance to try it. Staff was very friendly and attentive. Wings - huge wings and very tasty. Seafood linguine - sauce needed some salt but I like food on the salty side in general. Seafood was very fresh especially the shrimp, not sure what they do to it but it has a nice bounce when you bite into it. Takeout experience: The seafood boil was double bagged. The raw oysters and jumbo cocktail shrimp had ice packs to go with. Overall, packing was secure and thoughtful. I would highly recommend their Lobster Rolls, it is packed with large chunks of lobster, Mayo, and celery bits. A fantastic blend of flavors. Their garlic bread is soft but crunchy. The seafood boil comes with two type of sauces, the spicy twist sauce and the garlic butter, both of which lean towards the creamier side (I think there's heavy cream in the sauce. Just a warning for those lactose intolerant!). I'm not the biggest fan of the creamy sauce but it was still good. Each seafood boil order also comes with free sides of garlic bread, corn, and potatoes. Raw oysters and Jumbo cocktail shrimp were also amazing. Dine-in experience: Employees took COVID precautions by measuring our temperature and having us write down our contact information. Came here on an early Friday evening for a mini birthday celebration. I don't typically drink, but they have a very extensive beer menu and they sell by the pitcher so a total bonus if you like that. Their baked mussels are absolutely amazing. Cheesy and creamy! We got the largest party platter that feeds 7-8 people, we had 8 and it was enough to feed us all sufficiently. We had a couple of people in our group that have stomach issues and couldn't eat anything spicy so we got the garlic butter platter, but they were nice enough to also provide us the spicy twist sauce on the side for the rest of us. The garlic butter didn't have much flavor, but the spicy twist was definitely delicious. I love that they have little baby cuttlefish as I feel like most boil places don't have that. Inside has 10 tables (or more if you break up the four seats into two for two) and a handful of seats at the bar. No dividers between tables but they seat parties separate from each other (well there were only 3 parties when we went). They also have a tent thingy at the side of the restaurant for outdoor dining. I personally wouldn't wanna sit in their outdoor area because it's at the side of the restaurant without windows so you can't see what's going on inside and vice versa. Turns out it's run by Chinese people. They speak mando and a little bit of canto. Appreciate how they offered hot or cold water. Hot please~ I'm not interested in the seafood boil so I went with all the other things. Ordered: clam chowder, lobster bisque, baked oyster, seafood deluxe pasta with twist sauce, and lobster roll with sweet potato fries Clam chowder Lukewarm. It came out quite watery which I wonder if it's because there's no pasta water to thicken it. I still think this is the best option out of the three sauces. Linguine is smooth but not chewy. Italians don't be offended but they told us they rinse it in cold water. Seafood overall was fresh. The cuttlefish was slightly too salty. Mussels were overcooked. Lobster roll with sweet potato fries The lobster roll filling had a lot of celery and lemon juice. It was really refreshing. The mayo was a bit too much for me. Lobster wasn't as sweet or juicy as I would like but overall ok. The bread was bad. It's so dry and rough. I can't tell if the lettuce layer between the bun and filling was supposed to prevent the bun from being soggy but parts of it still did. The bread isn't properly toasted. I don't see any color. It has very faint garlic flavor that I suspect if any was added. I'd like more garlic and butter please! Sweet potato fries were really good. They were still crunchy on outside and airy and fluffy on the inside when cold. They came out hot don't worry. They didn't seem oily so I wonder if they used an air frier or oven (maybe not because there weren't obvious patches of color). The soft drink offer they give for check ins is a fountain drink rather than a separate can. Also they give plastic utensils. I don't like that. Twist is one of those hidden gems in the outskirts of a neighborhood who might not know about it, seeing it's on 3rd ave below a highway overpass and a few blocks from Costco - so industrial. I have dined in here a few times and every time it has delivered on many aspects - service, value, and food. Given the location, it doesn't draw too large of a crowd so perhaps when there are customers the owner (who might be also a server) is happy to please. The seafood is generally always fresh and their Twist sauce is so great that it is difficult for us to try other sauces. Twist Seafood Restaurant is one of the newest additions to Sunset Park. Its location under the BQE on 3rd avenue puts it at a disadvantage in terms of being a "trendy" neighborhood to visit, but I feel this restaurant deserves to survive and thrive. While in an older part of the neighborhood, Twist definitely spent some time and money to build out its space. Along one side is a sushi bar with the kitchen in the back. The main seating area has a long lounge-like bench seat along one wall with tables that can be shifted around for multiple configurations in the restaurant. The walls are decorated with beautiful drawings of seafood that look like they could have been drawn with a brush. The lighting is not too bright, not too dark - it's just right to set a comfortable mood for a dinner with friends or a date. I was very comfortable and happy in the space. My friends and I ordered several items to share. We started with raw oysters, which were on sale during Happy Hour. Those were good, a tad smaller than I'm used to but still tasty and worth the price. We also tried their chicken wings, which had a very *thick* batter on them but they had a nice crunch and flavor. I wouldn't go out of my way for them however. The main event was a giant boil bowl that we all shared. We had lobster, snow crab legs, shrimp and mussels galore. We also had some potatoes in the mix. We wound up getting the Twist sauce, which is a tangy, slightly spicy red sauce. At least, on the surface. The lower we went down our bowl, the more intense the sauce became as a lot of the spice had pooled at the bottom. It was fantastic! The seafood all tasted fresh and the shrimp were big and plump. Overall we left very satisfied with our food. If you've never been to a restaurant such as this, I do recommend wearing the gloves and bibs provided as it will spare you a potential mess. It was enough food for four people (or three very hungry people). I like that they serve the boil in a large metal bowl as opposed to a plastic bag so it's easier to share in a group. Came here with friends for the holiday promotion. It was a good holiday deal. The holiday combo came with a lobster, shrimp, crab legs, potatoes, and corn. Came in on a Saturday afternoon and it was empty so we got seated right away! We ordered the cheeseburger with sweet potato fries and it was so good. Too bad the burger itself was well done, but I also didn't specify what I wanted. The seafood bundle, we ordered lobster with clams, shrimp and sausage and I loved it! We ordered lemon garlic with baby spicy, and it was perfect for my parents who never like spicy! I can taste that the seafood is fresh, and sauce isn't overpowering like others. Well, Third Avenue in Sunset Park is not what it was. Blocks once beset with prostitutes and drug dealers are slowly changing to places where delicious, fresh seafood is available. Twist is a refreshing local seafood spot. The dark furniture and white walls with modern artistic depictions of crabs and shrimp give a cool laidback vibe. Great for a romantic dinner, or unwinding after a long week of work. Delicious calamari, warm garlic bread, and beer. I had 1.5 pounds of delicious shrimp in a medium spicy Twist sauce. The right level of flavor and spice. My husband had the Whole Lobster in Garlic Butter. Everything was delightful and FILLING. There was definitely more than 1.5 pounds of shrimp. Each one cooked to perfection, a soft but tender crunch on each bite released a slight sweetness. The lobster was a rational size, tender and juicy. The service was spectacular. Twist Restaurant It's Tuesday night And I'm hungry. This is my second time in the area and I've eaten at the smaller joints for easy hand food as I like to call it. Tonight I wanted more. A "real" dinner with that restaurant feel. Just down from the hotel is such a place; Twist Restaurant. It is a seafood restaurant with an excellent selection of craft beers both on tap and in the bottle. This place is worth the stop just for the beer. I ordered their Holiday Special; lobster with an add on of shrimp - super spicy. Garlic bread is seasoned well. Toasted and delivered hot. I actually let it cool before eating it. I didn't wait on other food. Did I tell you I was hungry? Ok. Overall impression is super positive. I loved the spicy. It had a nice bite, but didn't overpower the flavor in the seafood and veggies. Asian meets Low Country Boil. A great combination. They do split the lobster down the middle from top to bottom, so if you're squeamish about seeing the inside of the lobster, you might want to ask for an alternative presentation. I didn't ask if they had one, but it never hurts to ask. The shrimp were definitely jumbo. Peeled super easy and not over cooked at all, so the texture was spot on. Of course, corn and potatoes are ..... corn and potatoes. I did spring for dessert. They carry Hershey Ice Cream products. I will have to sing them In the ice cream presentation. It comes in a styrofoam 4oz cup. For storage and simplicity in serving, I get it. But I felt underwhelmed with that, but dang the ice cream was good. I can only assume the staff on hand were owners/management. This soon after thanksgiving is always tough on having a crowd, but I was the only diner. The restaurant is in an area not known for good eating places, but it appears the area is getting a makeover slowly and more places will be coming in. It's not far from the Industrial City area and Costco. If you want something off the beaten path with great beer and seafood, I'd encourage you to give this place a chance.
