So, FPO and I took a break from KC BBQ and tried, upon the recommendation of my favorite sister, Twisted Fresh. FPO ordered a Four Alarm Burger with one side (Street Corn), saw the cookies they have in the display, and so ordered 2 snickerdoodles. Apparently, if you order 1 cookie it's $0.75, order 3 and it's $1.75 ... we learned this after a closer look at the menu board. Would've been nice if the cashier had mentioned it too. I ordered the Mahi Mahi Taco. I'll start with FPO's order. The four alarm burger turned out to be more of a 1-1/2 alarm except that all of the jalapeños were clumped together in one spot of the burger. But, the burger was cooked perfectly and so was completely devoured. The street corn was so so and the snickerdoodles were dry. The verdict? Probably wouldn't order any of it again. My Mahi Mahi taco was a bit of a disappointment. They have a hard corn tortilla inside a soft flour tortilla. Between the slaw, pico de gallo, and sriracha honey aioli the taco is so liquidy everything is a soggy mess. It also took me a while to find the fish, there was hardly any of it in the taco. Looking on the bright side, the Cajun spice on the Mahi was pretty good, just not enough. I wouldn't order it again. I saw they have some safety protocols in place. The staff wears masks (but then they pull them down when it gets hot), they use gloves, which is nice. They have a sanitizer bottle available for customer use, unfortunately it was empty. And it looked like they practice social distancing. They had some tables blocked off. Would I try Twisted Fresh again? I'm leaning towards no. I can say I tried it and it wasn't for me. And there are just too many other places out there to explore.

Street corn & Chicken Cashew Avocado salad: chicken, avocado, cashews, cheese, basil, mixed greens & tomatoes w/ sriracha sauce
    Dana M.

Chicken Cashew Avocado can be done several ways and I chose the salad but it's probably better as a wrap. The grilled chicken was good, but the avocado was over ripe and brown. Cashews, cheese, & tomatoes weren't fantastic but as you'd expect. Didn't taste the fresh basil and the mixed greens were a bit wilted but still edible. The sriracha sauce dressing was what saved what was really a bland meal. It's not really spicy but has a delayed small kick by the end. The street corn was decent, it had an overall good flavor. This place is good but it wouldn't be my first pick.

Kung pao chicken burrito and broccoli slaw

My lunch go-to when I need healthy, but want more taste than a salad or typical grain bowl. Every single dish I've had is PACKED with flavor. My forever favorite is the mahi-mahi tacos. They cook all meat fresh (seriously, watch them plop raw meat straight onto the grill in small batches for each individual order) and the texture and flavor really shows that. The tacos come in a basket of 3 and are the perfect mix between sweet, spicy, and savory. If you're low carb, you can get them without the shell made into a salad - I've done this and it's just as good!! Okay, enough about the fish tacos. (The Kung pao chicken wrap is another favorite and their broccoli salad is a unique menu item I love) - but moving on from food, it's also excellently priced. I usually pay between $9-12 total for a meal here. For the amount of food, I'm very happy with that. If you're looking to eat here for lunch, make sure you order ahead or you have the time to wait because this place is popular. When I dine-in I usually wait about 15-20 minutes at lunch rush between 11-1pm. Otherwise wait is about 10 min (remember they're cooking that FRESH food!), which is not long at all, but it's still nice to know what to expect so you don't stop in in a hurry. Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this place and will keep frequenting it myself.

One of my favorite place for wraps in the greater Overland Park area! Beats Longboards by a long shot. The flavors are great, the wraps are packed (almost too packed--might opt for a bowl with a wrap on the side instead next time), the prices aren't too bad, and there's a good mix of veggies and meat. Make sure to pick up a drink or some water because some of the wraps can be on the dry side, but generally speaking, Twisted Fresh is a solid place for a quick lunch.

    Kids Beef & Cheese Tacos

This was a quick take-out order. The mahi mahi tacos were super delicious, and the slaw was so fresh! But they were messy! One could argue they were overfilled, but not me! I enjoyed every last bite and had 1 1/2 meals out of the order. Just get a fork with it! I wasn't expecting a hard taco glued inside of a soft taco using melted cheese, nor would my healthier self chosen such an option, but it was pretty good! And yes, my kid loved the beef and cheese kids tacos. Mostly because it was missing our regular veggies! Lol The young guys behind the counter were polite enough to get the job done and done correctly. Thank you!

The food was good but honestly, I was a little underwhelmed by this place. My Mahi-Mahi fish tacos were tasty - it had a lot of flavors going on - and the portion size was generous. However, for fast casual, it felt like I waited a while for it to be ready. And while it was enjoyable enough that I would go back, it wasn't amazing. I kind of see this place as a great option for a working lunch if you're in the area, but not one I'd go way out of my way to eat at.

The food was made fresh, I've always wanted to try the barria taco but no one seems to offer anything but a beef option. And finally, I found a chicken one. It was Delish !! Now I couldn't dip in the au just because it was beef but I appreciate having the option. The Mexican rice was light and flavorful. The queso was good however it stiffened up pretty quickly, just in case you feel the anxiety of choosing between. Your appetizer and the main costs course. Over all, a great experience for a late afternoon lunch. Check out it when your craving tacos, I don't think you'll be disappointment.

I wish I would've had more time to look around the market because it looked like they had a lot of good stuff but I'll have to go back and see. They do have tables inside that you can eat at. The food was done at the quoted time and was accurate. The one individual I encountered was friendly. The menu was very straightforward-tacos, burritos, and a few other items, all can be customized. I had to get an order of chips and queso. I really liked their queso. It had good flavor and wasn't overly spicy. The chips were fresh and held up to the queso nicely. I'm definitely probably alway going to order this when I go. I also tried a taco with carne asada. The tacos are the street variety but they are really good sized. They don't skimp on the meat. And the carne asada was really good. No gristle or gross bits. It was chopped finely and I'd definitely order it again. I also had to try a burrito. I tried the El pastor for that and added on all the toppings-cheese, sour cream, lettuce, tomato, and avocado. I also opted for extra meat because it was super cheap-like $1, so why not? Again, I was not disappointed. I did throw my burrito on the good 'ol George Foreman when I got home because they don't grill it at all and I wanted some grill marks on that tortilla. Otherwise, the el pastor was flavorful and tender and the toppings were all fresh. Per usual, my eyes were bigger than my stomach so I saved half of my burrito, but it was a welcome leftover meal the following day. Definitely check them out if you're on the boulevard and want some tasty, Mexican grub.

It's definitely not close, a little bit of a drive (almost half an hour) but, it's so worth it! I've now visited three times and every time is almost better than the last. There are so many options for tacos here as well as combo meals, loaded fries, salads and other sharables. Truly, something on the menu for everyone. Also, the mission statement of this restaurant makes it even better than the savory, sensational food alone. They give back meals to the hungry with an emphasis on philanthropy. The employees inside the bright and cheery dining room are always so helpful, they really seem to love what they're doing and the work environment embodies the mission statement of the restaurant. I can tell the people working there take pride in what they do. Where do I start on the food...I've tried quite a few tacos on the menu and a lot of them are standouts. There are of course classic renditions of Tex-Mex tacos as well as new inventions, like a crab cake taco. I also have tried the steak and blue taco which wasn't my all time favorite but definitely had flavors that all worked together. Just to me the steak was a little chewy and tough but, I loved the additions of bacon and crumbled blue cheese, it was so hearty and creamy from the ranch sauce with a tad of heat from some jalapeño. The seafood tacos really shine for me and my palette, I really loved the snappy firecracker fried shrimp taco. This is definitely for the spicy sisters (and brothers) because it has an Asian inspired bang bang sauce as well as a peppery punchy sriracha sauce. Such a winner! Another winner in my opinion is the blackened mahi mahi taco with a creamy slaw and yum yum sauce which is just YUM! It's fresh and flavorful. The Korean steak taco has an interesting added crunch from a topping of fried wonton strips and an umami glaze on the steak. I prefer it to the steak and blue even though it's simpler in the number of ingredients. Who doesn't like a taco with fried pickles on top?! If you are with me and you are a pickle princess (or prince) and aren't afraid of a little spice then the buffalo chicken taco is for you. Another spicy option is the mango habanero grilled chicken taco, it may be the spiciest on the menu but the flavors pack a punch. The crispy cabbage and the creamy avocado cool down the mango habanero salsa and the crumbled salty cojita cheese topping is the most perfect finishing touch. Also, just a note, these are no small street tacos so, even though at first the price may seem shocking they are definitely filling. I barely finish three each time I dine and I leave very full and satisfied. Another favorite of mine has been the refried black beans that come with a Chipotle component that makes them unique. The guacamole is also fresh and limey, so good with a thin crispy salty chip dunked in. The queso isn't anything too special but who doesn't like ooey gooey melty cheese?
