On the recommendation of my neighbor we finally got a chance to try this tiny little spot in old downtown KCK. Largely due to the neighborhood demographic, this area is blessed with several great Mexican joints. This one is no exception. My smothered carnitas burrito was both plentiful and delicious. Absolutely loaded with big tender and moist chunks of tasty pork. My buddy equally enjoyed his Enchiladas Verdes. This place is known for its breakfast and lunch meals, especially on the weekend when it closes early. I liked the chicken chimichanga. I LOVED the Huevos Rancheros. Okay so I remembered when this place opened, I worked across the street at Unified Government . I use to come here all the time with my co worker we could eat , laugh and enjoy our time here . Now, not so much, the customer service is practically nonexistent ,there have been serval times where I would patronize here and the workers wouldn't even give me a thank you or a come back soon! They just take my order, take my money and seem very aloof. It's not clear to me if they even like or want my service . The space is fine. They do try to keep it tidy . But the food quality and service has definitely gone down hill. This spot use to be my favorite. I'm glad they are busy but I think they should truly work on thier customer service to all customers! Tried them again. Ordered on Doordash to pick-up. $50+ was debited from my account and I received an email confirming my order and telling me to be at the restaurant to pick-up my order at 4:05 pm. On arrival they did not have my order. Perfect. They say the don't have a Doordash, well they DO have a Doordash because I was able to order from it and it took my money and confirmed my order. If they don't have a Doordash, they should ensure that it is turned off or shut down to keep their customers from being inconvenienced. So I had to deal with Doordash to cancel my order and get a refund. Meanwhile I just went ahead and ordered the same order again at the restaurant. Another 25 minutes of waiting on a Friday afternoon. Outstanding. Get home and of course the order is messed up. No tostada, the enchiladas were supposed to be cheese and onion, not meat and they gave me two burritos instead of just the one that I ordered. And the extra one was not one that I would have ordered. It should not be this difficult. Especially when they were not busy at all. Done with this place for real this time. read more

Not much to say here other than this was the best street tacos I've ever had in my life! Including in Mexico, Texas, Arizona and California. So good! Had chicken tacos today and have been here before and had Carne Asada and recall raving about it on Facebook sometime back. Cilantro was fresh, tortillas fresh and didn't dissolve in the flavorsome and moist chicken. Great little place in the heart of Strawberry hill. Hubby had hard tacos and a chicken enchilada and he loved his as well. Great portions, cost effective, authentic and service was very good. I love birria tacos and tarahumaras has really great ones. On Sundays they have a special: 4 birria tacos for $10.99. You do have to buy the consume separately but it's $1.99 so nothing crazy. Basically on Sunday you get the consume for free. So I decided to check them out. They did not disappoint. They were delicious and cheesy and just totally hit the spot. They do have lots of other items but I didn't try them so I look forward to returning to eat more. They do have pretty limited hours and are closed on Monday's so check the socials and online before heading there. The building is also pretty small with limited tables so I took it to go because it was hopping. Also, be prepared to wait because they are back there actually making the order, it's not Taco Bell. And be aware that you don't get complimentary chips and salsa. If that's a deal breaker, go to any other Tex mex place because this is real deal Mexican. Just thinking back on lunch yesterday is making my mouth water. My hubs got the 4 Birria tacos with consume, total banger outta the park. I got the pick 3 plate and wanted one of each tamale but unforch they didn't have tamales on our visit which turned out fine because my enchilada and flauta were fire. The real star of the show for me though was the albondegas soup. I could drown in it. Somehow, even though you could tell the flavors had been cooking together for hours, the veggies were not mush...they were cooked perfectly. And the portion was GIGANTIC. Being a self proclaimed soup sloot (this is a family friendly app, lol) I was living my best life, I cannot wait to go back when it's a little cooler and try the Fideo...I gotta work myself up to menudo since I wasn't raised on tripe. Went at 10:00am on a Saturday for breakfast and were the only ones there. The breakfast dishes are on point. I highly recommend the traditional breakfast plate with fried eggs, potatoes, and beans. It's served with either flour or corn tortillas so you can choose to wrap up your own breakfast tacos. The potatoes are delicious. We all thought that was the best part of our meal. They're diced small and cooked with chorizo for killer flavor. The breakfast burritos are small, so if you're not very hungry they are a good bet. If you're hungry, order two. We asked for hot sauce and were served a couple bowls of tomato salsa that didn't look spicy, but it packed quite a bite. They were out of horchata and the coffee was pretty weak, so I wouldn't recommend drinks with breakfast, but I plan on returning soon to try the soup - the albondigas looked so good - or other lunch and dinner menu items. I was recommended this place by a coworker and I had a little time today and ran over there. It was late morning so no one else in there, I planned on just grabbing about doz. tamales but it smelt so good in there I grabbed Lunch as well. I got the combo plate with a fried taco, flaunta, and a SOPA, I don't know what a Sopa is but it was one of the best things I've ever eaten. It's like a pita style taco. But the flaunta was the best I've ever had, the tortilla is crisp and not stale tasting, and the chicken inside was excellent. Tarahumaras is a great "order to go" or sit and enjoy. They have a small but convenient dining area. It is marked for social distance dining. The staff is very friendly and are wearing masks. Their food is always so good and the portions are decent for the price. They also provide catering or bulk orders. Some of our favorites are their Tamales, Birria tacos, and tres leches. I hate when good food is marred by poor service. I stopped in Tarahumaras for a quick breakfast while in Strawberry Hill. I ordered the Tostadas Rancheros; corn tortilla, black beans, chorizo, pico, avocado, queso and egg - sunny side up. It sounded perfect except for a runny yolk. I asked if they could prepare it with a hard cooked egg, and was told sure. I even reiterated that I can't eat a raw eggs, just to ensure that we were on the same page with the term "hard eggs". I was served a very photogenic tostada covering a small styro plate. On my 2nd bite I felt the warm goo enter my mouth and i looked down to see yolk dripping on to the plate. I'm not sure if I was more nauseated or infuriated. At that moment the cashier / server asked if all was well. I fell silent and pointed to the runny mess. She gave a look like "oops, I screwed up but ain't gonna admit it" and then without apology asked if I wanted a new one. I was the only customer in the building! How hard is it to ensure one simple request is met, especially when you agreed to the request. Apologize and insist that a correct one will be out quickly, don't brush off the mistake and make me feel like I'm inconveniencing you, which I didn't do. Damn dude. This food was on point. I got in around 12:30pm and everything was hot and fresh. Really nice portions on the rice and beans that come with the "Pick Three." I picked a pulled port taco (the pulled pork was cooked perfect), a beef enchilada (great flavor), and a tamale (the masa could have used a little more flavor, but I'm sure if you're a sauce person it was a perfect combo). I finished everything up with a slice of Tres Leche cake - which they added delicious strawberries to. Great surprise! All of this (and a coke) was about $13.
