It's not really a truck stop, but it is part of a convenience store at a Phillips 66 gas station. The only options for burgers in Waterloo near where we are, are either fast food or Denny's, Applebees, etc. It's a bit of a drive down Rte 3 to Red Bud, but if you want a very good burger at a reasonable price it's worth making the trip.

The fries were mushy and gross, and I feel like the burger was completely underwhelming. I think steak 'n shake has some of the best burgers. If we were going to stop somewhere local we probably should have done that. That. There's nothing to write home about and they offer a discount on some ice cream that's hand scooped, my partner got some of that and tried it and it was completely freezer burnt. So needless to say we won't be back, but it was I guess. Guess interesting to check out a local spot that I've been curious about. 3/10 won't try again and wouldn't recommend.

My partner went with the wimpy burger ( not a wimpy burger.. 1.2 lbs) and cajun fries. From the moment you walk in, you know you've found a true local spot. It's small, cozy and decorated with fun signs and memorabilia. The staff are amazing, friendly, welcoming, and just the kind of people you want to see when you're about to dive into comfort food. Even at 1:30 pm, that in between lunch/dinner time, the place was steadily busy. And now I know why. The onion rings? Fantastic. I'm an onion ring snob and these were fresh, crispy, and legit. no frozen batter here, and none of that "pull the whole onion out in one bite" nonsense ( I hate that). The fries were hot, crisp and perfectly seasoned. And the burger is 100% beef, juicy, and packed with flavor. This is a local gem and I'm so glad we went. We'll definitely be back.
