Espy is mostly a women's clothing store, but if you're into denim, they have a wide selection on the men's side. I found store staff to be funky, friendly, fun, and helpful, offering as much personal space as I needed to contemplate any possible purchases. They also offer "closet intervention" services, which considering my casual (and sometimes baggy and color-bending) clothing choices, would most welcome. But only under Gayle's supervision. :)

I'm not always sure what will look good on me based on how it looks on the rack. Megan and Adam are always really helpful and I end up with stuff that I really like. This past spring I called Megan to tell her I was heading to Paris and was having trouble finding a wool pea coat. She told me that they had just been in London and she put her boyfriend in a 7diamonds coat that looked great. She showed me the pictures on the website, ordered it in and I had it in my hands 3 days later. Now that's service. Espy definitely isn't the cheapest place in town but I'd gladly spend my money on quality things that I really like vs cheaping out on just ok ish stuff that I end up not wearing. I can usually expect to go in there looking for one thing but finding others too. Today I was just going to pick up the hemmed jeans but ended up leaving with a new pair of Steve Madden shoes. I moved to Vancouver in 2016, but still regularly order new things. Kyle knows my size, and my tastes, so he occasionally drops me a line with recommendations. Never pushy, this guy, but just a man who loves what he does and wants to share that with others. Styles and brands probably run more on the cool dad side of things, which is great as this aligns with one of my dearest aspirations.

The most kind and welcoming voice answered the phone and said "Yes, we can fit the belt to your 32" waist, please come on over and we'll let you in." I was fitted up with a belt in no time and also had a most wonderful conversation about life. It was truly a Supreme experience! I would totally recommend this place to anybody. I mean everybody. I really appreciated the way he coordinated the entire process from selection, alterations, pick-up, and the interface with shoes and belts which is a different department. A special mention to Thelis who helped me select the best-looking leather shoes I've ever owned. Near the end, the owner came out just to introduce himself. O'Connors is a case-study in how a business can successfully use superior service and quality to build loyalty. It doesn't always have to be about price. My fiance and I are getting married in Toronto in September of this year. His groomsmen and our fathers live in the Calgary, the Caymans, Ottawa, and Toronto. Suiting all these men proved to be a very difficult task. Enter Formans. The staff at Formans are unlike any staff I have EVER met. It is a family run business, and it is clear that they are passionate and proud of what they do. Their store is absolutely gorgeous, with beautiful clothing. Their knowledge is exceptional. Their friendliness is out of this world. And *genuine*. I left their store wide-eyed and speechless. Being self-employed myself, I am often frustrated at the poor customer care received these days. The staff at Formans blew my mind. My fiance and his men look stunning. They have all said nothing but amazing things about Formans. They truly treat you like family. Unfortunately I had an accident a few weeks ago that leave me with a injuries and deformities that will still be evident on my wedding day. At hearing this from my fiance, Simone at Formans surprised me and sent me this absolutely beautiful, large floral arrangement. I called and expressed my appreciation. Calgary's East Village is an up-and-coming neighborhood. It's development has been slowed down by…read morelower oil prices (the big industry in these parts), so who knows what this area will look like next year. In the meantime, there's enough construction here to imagine the possibilities. That includes the retail outposts like Liz & Lottie who have staked their success on their stylish taste and the promise of a lot more foot traffic past their shop. I wandered on a recent Friday afternoon and thoroughly enjoyed this version of retail therapy. Liz & Lottie is more geared perhaps to those who are "sugar and spice and everything nice", but for folks like me (e.g. snips and snails and puppy dog tails), there some interesting things, plus loads of gift opportunities. I also enjoyed their nice selection of local and Canadian items and their good taste in selecting and displaying their wares. My super stylish and in the know sister in law has been finding awesome gifts at Liz & Lottie for everyone in the family since they've opened and I have been following them on Instagram to keep tabs on the new items coming into the shop. The two owners are super kind and helpful, I've messaged them on Instagram with shopping requests/items I am looking for and they have sent me back pictures of products they have in store that match the request -- how nice is that! I often visit on my lunch break as they are tucked into the East Village at the bottom of one of the high rises but it's easy to get there either from walking through the river walk, taking the train to the end of the free line then going for a short stroll or driving right up there. On this visit I walked away with gift for four upcoming events! A sassy and slightly inappropriate valentines card for my husband, a baby shower gift, a gender reveal party gift and a birthday party gift. Trust me I could have kept shopping! Great place to find all sorts of treasures including local and Canadian makers which is so great to see.
