Super lively place esp after hours! Sports bar, college hangout for sure! Tried the espresso martini, the southwest chicken salad and the fried cauliflower. The cauliflower stole the show. Unhealthy greasy bar food at its finest! The salad was solid. Nice gem in middlebury.

Pleasant casual atmosphere, really good fried chicken sandwich, amazing sweet potato fries. Tastes like high quality thoughtful comfort food. The burger was a bit well done and could have been a heftier burger but all in all a great experience and would love to come back.

A good dinner if you like American food. The tavern vibe is nice and they have TVs at the bar.

Great burgers, fun ambiance. Locals and college community hang out there. Large varieties of beers.

Those aren't complaints, but for any "hungry guys" who like hearty portions, this place will run up your tab.

You can choose from bar seating, indoor tables, or outdoor spots with a perfect breeze. There's even a big street-side table that's ideal for bachelorette groups or larger parties. The whole space feels elevated, cozy, and a little magical. Drinks: The cocktail menu is insanely creative and the pours are generous. Their espresso martini is one of my all-time favorites... I stop in for one every single time I'm in Lake Placid. It's that good. Food: I think about this food at least once a week. The menu is built around shareable small plates, making it the perfect pre-dinner cocktail hour spot for your travel crew. Order a couple of drinks and a few bites while you take in the lake views before your dinner reservation. My personal must-orders: the charcuterie board and the mac and cheese. Unreal. Price: It's on the pricier side, but genuinely worth every penny. For the quality, the atmosphere, and those views? Not overpriced at all.

I came into town late on a Thursday night. I looked at the map and saw this restaurant. Ironically,…read morethere's a very well-known restaurant with the same name where I live, so I knew I had to try it. When I walked in, I was immediately greeted. I requested to sit at the bar and the host walked me to the bar. The bartender was kind and attentive. At the bar, you can order from the bar bites menu and/or you can order from the regular menu. They provide roasted garlic and a warm baguette to start your meal. For dinner, I order a house salad and two bar bites, the caprese and artichoke dip. The lettuce in the salad was so fresh and it was really filling. The star was the artichoke dip. It had hints of sun dried tomatoes and it was incredible. If you're in town, I highly recommend The Garlic!

We got the mussels which were the highlight of the meal for me. The white wine sauce was so delicious, there's something I couldn't put my finger on, but it set it apart from others I've had. In all honesty, the entrees were just normal Italian food, it was good but nothing earth shattering. The reason this place is a 10/10 is because of the mussels, it's so good!

The restaurant was built around a 1921 Hacker Craft wooden boat, beautifully restored by friends of mine at Morgan Marine in Silver Bay, NY. The boat used to house an actual salad bar, pre-Covid. Now it's just a beautifully appointed mahogany boat in a big room just past the hostess station. The rest of F&I is a series of small and large rooms, some very intimate. There are artifacts everywhere (that you need to explore). Recently visited w best friend, Locomotive Breath (formerly known as Zagbolt). Sat at the bar. Seemingly lots of locals. Very capably waited on by bartender Andre. He was effective, efficient, and gregarious. Perfect young man for the job. We split a dozen wings (one of the specials which were smothered in an orange, peppery glaze). Delicious! I also had a cheeseburger w bacon. Perfectly broiled on a substantial bun. And onion rings. Plentiful. LB had a mesquite chicken panini w mashed. He loved it. Large selection of tapped and bottled beer, wine, alcohol of all kinds. One thing that kind of caught my attention was another patron's prime rib. Very fatty, on the thin side, $39. Did not think it was a good presentation or value. F&I is still one of the best restaurants around. Museum-like, and good food. Curtailed hours compared to years past, and looking for help (of all kinds). 4 stars
