Wow, wow, wow. I feel so lucky that I was driving on Rt 7 and saw this beautiful house and I stopped to see if they had a restaurant (the patio lights gave me sense that it would). The restaurant is located in Swift's House which has several beautiful (1800s buildings on a small hill). The food was exquisite. We ordered more than we could eat because everything sounded delicious and it was. Linus was our waiter who was attentive throughout our dinner. I will return (and make sure I make reservations ahead of time)

Ambiance/Atmosphere: Definite "Vermont Inn" dining room, with old time charm and romantic and calm atmosphere. You can actually have conversation with a nice quiet environment. "New England Charm". Service: Very attentive staff all around, great help with wine choices, food recommendations, and just the right amount of attention. Food: Amazeballs. All around great, from the starting cocktail, through the soup (lots of lobster in it), main course and dessert. Everything was well presented, high quality, and delicious. Definitely worth a visit. Just mind the parking, because that's the only part that could detract. If they're busy it can be hard to get a spot. We'll definitely be back.

The hostess and wait staff were kind and professional. I like the uniquely decorated rooms of the house-like dining rooms. It is cozy and the dishes are carefully prepared, clean, and delicious. The lamb chops special was cooked with precision and was crispy and yummy.

Jessica's first brunch was a hit. My New Years day visit was excellent. The menu offered a decent selection of breakfast entrees, drinks and desserts. I had the waffles and chicken. Top notch. For desert it's was the maple creme brulee. Hopefully the brunch option at Jessica's will continue throughout 2025. Book now, this cozy restaurant fills fast!

Super thinly sliced and a big let down. My Middlebury cut was great. For the price of the English cut I should have sent it back. They no longer have the great salad bar, soup station, cheese board or bread station. And Sunday brunch is gone also. The decor and service was great as before. We are not likely going to have it as a destination anymore. Very disappointing indeed. We have been customers for over 15 years and made the long trip because it was so good. Sorry for the poor review but we dine many places and we get much more from other establishments.

Housed in an old…read morefarmhouse just outside of Middlebury, Fire & Ice features locally sourced fresh and natural ingredients in an ambitious menu that will satisfy most palates. The restaurant has been around for more than half a century and has an eclectic decor with walls covered in black and white photos, hundred year old Hackercraft motorboat, biplane propellers, and wooden skis that likely were used to carve up Stowe and Killington. We started with a watermelon margarita and an extra dry Hendricks Gibson up. The drinks were perfectly chilled and hit the spot after a long day touring Fort Ticonderoga. We were told that their prime rib was the belle of the Fire & Ice ball so we made that our dinner. Roasted slowly overnight, the meat is perfectly medium rare inside with a delectable crust. Served with a range of sides and a generous dollop of freshly grated horseradish, we could not have been more pleased with the quality and quantity of the prime rib. They have an interesting dessert cart but, after 40 ounces of delicious prime rib, we gave the sweet course a miss. Fire & Ice is a compelling option for those spending time in Middlebury. We highly recommend this venue.

For instance, if you get a burger, it's a good hearty size with nice fresh toppings and a pleasing amount of fries. Other options are lackluster. For instance, the chicken & french toast has so much promise. I expected 2 or 3 nice juicy chicken tenders with a couple pieces of homemade french toast, all eggy & cooked on a griddle. Nope. Three 3" hard "tenders" and a bunch of deep fried french toast sticks that arent all that dissimilar from those sold in the freezer section of the grocery. It was more of a kid's meal but it wasn't listed as such. I had hoped for something more elevated with a more homemade touch. Was it bad? No. Was i disappointed? Yes. That said, this place feels very homey and that I like a lot.

Various table games are available to take to your table. nice touch to keep kids occupied. Ordering food and drinks for outside tables isn't the best system as you have to go to bar to make order. They had one person back there and she was overwhelmed making drinks and taking orders. Must be an easier system to implement for making food orders. We had a party of 8 so was very difficult keeping track and going back and forth. Maybe during busy times a waitress would be best and non peak hours ordering at bar would be fine. Dog cup of meat is a nice addition on menu. Dog was happy! Beer was excellent. Good variety and fair pricing. Frosted beer glasses would be even better. Food was average bar food at best. Burger patty was thin and flavorless. Pork on sandwich was extremely dry but sauce on it helped. Poutine fries were good and gravy was great but no curds to be found just melted cheese. Should be called disco fries not poutine fries. Biggest minus we encountered was the awful stench in the parking lot and on the patio occasionally depending on the wind. I mean come on ! This has to be addressed !!! Can't eat and drink in sewer stench. People covering their noses in parking lot on the way in is not ideal :) Get a pro and fix this asap ! Overall we enjoyed it as it's very comfortable and great atmosphere and very good beer. Fair pricing. Will return and hopefully that stench will be gone with the wind!
