WONDERFUL doggie day care! This is a playground and a play date and a sleepover for your dog! AND your dog sometimes comes home with paw artwork just like a child's day care. It is unbelievable how attentive and caring all of the staff is at Two by Four! They know everything about your dog! I like that dogs must be evaluated before they are allowed to attend daycare, I like that you need to show proof of dog ownership and I like that they don't have public cameras. I love seeing all the pictures on the Instagram account of not only my dog but all of the dogs having fun on slides and pools with bubbles and costumes! Our latest senior dog rescue happens to be a discarded 10 year old hunting beagle boy from Georgia. We would not have been able to rehabilitate our wonderful little sweet, humble, scared, mistreated, loving little guy without the help of Two By Four in Oyster Bay, New York. Having no previous experience with dog daycare for any of our rescues it was a bit nerve wracking but since our little beagle boy was missing his pack we went searching for a place where he could enjoy one regularly. Two By Four calmed our fears first by their demeanor and the vetting of our pup. Over time Two By Four proved to be exactly the small, nurturing, well run and professional place to entrust with our rescue. Two By Four is unique compared to any other dog daycare that we checked out. It is not a chain but a family owned and operated facility with a small and familiar staff. You are met by the same faces every day with no staff turnaround. The dogs are playing outside in the fresh air weather permitting and you can watch their daily doings on their Instagram account that is updated all day long. If a pup owner has a concern about their dog, the owners of the daycare along with the small staff are closely familiar with each and every dog and therefore able to quickly address any issue. I have received some very valuable feedback from the owners and the staff in regard to our rescue pup. One of the owners is a Certified Positive Dog Trainer. In addition to the staff that cares for your dog the office is run with equal care, commitment, and professionalism. This to ensure accurate billing and to keep a close eye on the pups vaccination status. Which is obviously very important to keep everyone healthy. We thought that we are pretty organized but have come to appreciate a call from Two By Four informing us of the need for an updated vaccination certificate. It gives us great comfort to know that our little guy is in a clean and safe environment. The trust that we feel for the owners and the staff has led us to not only entrust them with daycare for our pup but also boarding. We know that he will always be safe, happy and cared for, so much that we have now boarded him for a few extended periods of time. Every time after being boarded he comes back to us with confidence, some improved manners (!), trim from playing with pups(!) every day and always smelling fresh from a bath! First I want to say I loved this place to board my dog. It's doggie heaven, they have pools, sprinklers, and seemingly very sweet staff. To board, you must bring your dog for an evaluation; however, they did not show the quarters where the dogs stay, which I thought was weird, but this place had come highly recommended so I let it go. They also do not have cameras that you can view, which I also let slide as we were in need of a place to board my dog when we are out of town. I picked up my dog from boarding over the weekend and did not notice a chunk of hair and skin missing from the side of my dog until I arrived home (size of a quarter). She is black so it is highly visible. I reached out to the owner, worried about my dog and she shrugged it off as dogs being dogs and that my dog probably rubbed against something. This may be true, but I was upset I was not told of the injury before I picked up my dog and wish I was notified after it happened or at the time I picked up my dog all the while saying my dog loves it there. The owner responded arrogantly, defensively and unsympathetically and to look elsewhere for boarding if I'm uncomfortable (which I did not say, I actually reiterated we love this place). All I wanted was to be notified of the injury, as I would imagine all dog owners would want. After the owners rude and arrogant response, I will look elsewhere, which I'm bummed about. Additionally, no cameras and no tour of their facilities is a no from me if the owner can't give a simple heads up of an injury. read more

Our dogs got violently ill there from kennel cough even though both were vaccinated. We understand this is a possibility when dogs are together, but what struck us as very alarming is the fact that the owner didn't communicate our dogs illness with other customers so they can be informed as well as possibly decide to keep their dogs away from the facility so it could be deeply cleaned. Instead, we received a rude, unprofessional response to our notification about our dogs contracting kennel cough and were accused of taking them to a "dog park." My dogs jump around in the car when we turn the corner to get to two by four. My dogs have made so many doggy friends, and when I drop them off they run to the gate and do not look back! My husband and I have been so pleased with all that Two By Four has to offer. The staff is very professional and everyone we have dealt with seams very responsible. Daisy always gets so excited and jumps around in the car when I tell her where we are going. My Whoodle has a ton of energy. Even with multiple daily long walks, sometimes he just needs a day at Two by Four to get out all his wiggles. He seems to know when he's going and can't get into the car fast enough!! He is always happily greeted and comes home absolutely exhausted! I have been bringing my dog to this camp for the past five weeks and I could not be happier. Melanie, her daughters and the entire staff are so warm and caring, making me feel beyond comfortable leaving my dog with them every day. I get daily photos and am returned an exhausted pup every day. His social skills are sky rocketed and his camp schedule has made all of our lives so great. I'm so happy i found this amazing doggie day care for my 7 and 3 year old collies. They are always smiling when dropping off and picking up which shows they love their jobs hence our dogs. They are very conscientious, thoughtful and responsive. If it wasn't for Melanie petting my Collie Joey to notice a wound through all of his heavy fur, I don't think I would have noticed it for a few more days at his next grooming time . He got that wound playing at home with his sister 2 days before bringing him into day care. If it wasn't for the amazing love and care of this wonderful place, that could have gotten infected. a quick visit to the vet and he is back playing g again!! I so trust this place. I started using Two by Four in September 2021. I was never offered a tour of the place and that should have been my first and only red flag. However, I read good reviews and my dog always seemed happy to go there. On a cold day in January 2022, I went to pick my dog up from day care. She was wet (not the first time) and tired (totally normal behavior). She took a nap when we got home and when she woke up, I found her stomach to be a mess - scratches and multiple red blotches. My dog had been recently groomed the weekend before and picture this, the hair on her back was still perfectly cleaned, but every other hair on her body was what felt like dried up greasy shampoo. I immediately called the owner of Two by Four and left a message. I was absolutely beside myself...!!! The next morning, I got a call and text from the owner. I called her back to tell her what had happened. I questioned if a new product was used when giving the dogs exit baths. She told me that they don't give them those unless requested. I had never requested this. So, I asked then why my dog was wet (especially outside in winter) and what was she doing that her stomach was a complete mess. She responded that my dog loves to be outside (true) and the only new thing they used was the pet safe salt. She also said that perhaps it was an allergic reaction to something in my car or at my home (no changes) and/or something the groomer left in her hair (never happened prior). Fast forward to that evening when my vet told me there was a clear reaction to something AND what looked like scratches, too. My vet also agreed that something was in my dog's hair and to give her a bath that night. I had told my vet I wanted to give a clear picture because I had no idea what was going on. My dog was given something for her stomach and I was told in week it will be better. The owner texted me that night to ask how my dog was. The conversation took a turn when I suggested that cameras would be a good suggestion. I was then told in a text message that "if you are implying I don't' have security cameras. I do. If you are interested in cameras camp bow wow in Hicksville might be an option for you" and to "have a nice evening" (exact quote). I didn't respond to that and I had no plans to speak to her ever again. I got another text message three days later asking how my dog was. I didn't respond and I had no intentions. I got another one the next morning saying "I guess she's ok!" NOTHING IS OKAY ABOUT THIS! That's when I responded that I took her advice to move on! I wouldn't spend another dime here ever again! The unprofessionalism that she displayed suggesting I find another place after a suggestion to make her place more marketable shows true character! This is a business where people trust you with their babies! However, the neglection of my dog is not something I am willing to risk again...so yeah some "security" cameras over there! It is still a mystery as to what caused this to happen to my dog and what my dog was actually doing all day! I was never offered compensation for anything either! For my family's peace of mind, I will take my dog where there are live cameras to know my dog is safe and properly watched! read more
