Worst movers. Company understimated our belongings. Ended up with furniture on the lawn and in driveway waiting for truck to come back. Crew was completely and utterly uncommunicative and would drive off without consulting us. Had to do two trips between locations. One of the movers carrying goods up and down stairs with unlaced shoes. They brought neither water nor food, which we then provided. Broke sevral items and took no time to talk to us to avoid many avoidable issues. No care and no customer sevice provided. read more

Many items that were unprofessional. The crew smoked and left cigarette butts everywhere outside. Butts are trash TO MOST PEOPLE so they effectively threw trash everywhere. Neighbors were outraged. They labeled almost no box effectively when they did the moving. They didn't say what was in the box but instead where the box came from. So they said "basement" on the box but there was no basement in my new home and there were multiple functional units in the "old" basement, including the master bedroom, the workout room and kitchen overflow. So to label it as "basement" and then throw it in the new garage simply because there was no basement was not at all helpful. Then worst of all, they did a poor job of packing breakables and dangerous items. My housekeeper badly injured herself when she reached into a box and struck an unprotected blade. There was blood everywhere. And breakables were not put in dishpacks that I bought. In fact, they ignored those and many other boxes I got and just charged me for all the extra boxes, leaving me with a bunch of unused boxes (I guess for my next move maybe 30 years from now). Instead of properly protecting the breakables by storing in their own compartments and stacking plates vertically on their sides (as recommended by professional movers), they stored them horizontally separated only by paper. Luckily the latter didn't cause breakage but it could have. read more

3 nice guys, hard workers, but they folded up our queen size mattress into a "V" shape and it literally looked immensely pregnant and had a HUGE (2 foot high) bulge in the middle that would not return to a flat shape. This was an expensive memory foam mattress that we then had to throw out - there is no way WE would have had it in that condition before moving. The company offered us a paltry 50 dollars compensation, about 550 dollars less then we paid for it. The stupidest part is, the truck wasn't even half full, so WHY would you have to mash it up like a huge taco? Never using them again. It was also a few hundred dollars more than the price originally quoted over the phone. read more

I spoke to a representative over the phone about a quote. I don't even know if he worked for the Arlington branch so I feel bad bashing the whole company, but he should not be in customer service. It was the first company I called and gave me a quote. I told him I'd call him back after I explore my options. He then got super condescending and rude as he attempted to sell me his pitch. I just wanted to look at other prices. I understand it's his job to get people to book them but he did not do a good job. I said the price was out of my budget especially cause it's a very close move. He argued with me that I won't find anything under $1000 (I've already found other companies that I could easily book for under $500) He didn't say anything like have a nice day he just hung up. The good: the four guys showed up on-time, were friendly, professional, and worked their back sides off. The bad: they lacked experience, damaged several walls (one that had just been painted), damaged an irreplaceable chair, and lost or misplaced some hardware. The ugly: the company gave me $100 in recompense. I didn't want to fight them for more which is on me. We recently had a move.. first i was quiet pleased with the first two guys wrapping our couch and taking boxes slowly into the hallway of the condo and then to the truck. I was courteous and said thank you everytime they took a box or thing out of the first place did the same thing when they took it in the new place offered them drinks and so. But then they had this other dude ( he was the biggest and talkest dude in the crew) who couldn't be bothered to walk a few steps to place boxes in the right area and then HE KEPT DROPPING FRAGILE BOXES OF KITCHEN STUFF ( mind you the same asshat asked to use the restroom and i was kind enough to let him use it ) His name is Mauro by the way (the asshat who kept dropping fragile stuff ). I watched him drop at least 3 kitchen boxes. I was so busy making sure they put the boxes in the right area so we can sort them out easy. After the boxes were all in the house they said so the guy said can you please sign this for your receipt ( guy had very little english ) he was actually nice, so after all that we started to open boxes. So we decided to open kitchen boxes because we wanted to cook then we noticed one huge kitchen box wasn't in the kitchen we decided to open every single box in all of the rooms 3 people looked at each box. So HOW DO YOU LOSE A 20x21 inch NEW EXTRA LARGE HOME DEPOT BOX LABELED KITCHEN/FRAGILE?! WE KNOW THE ITEMS MISSING BECAUSE WE HAVE NO THINGS TO COOK WITH,EVERYDAY KITCHENWARE $1200 worth down the drain?! LIKE 15 + of small office boxes made the move and some of them are old boxes filled with papers and such. Makes me angry and worried what else you guys lost in this local move?! The fact that we pack those boxes ourselves makes me more angry and paranoid. I feel like a complete idiot being all nice to your people and tipping them well. And all you can say is "i suggest you file a police report?" And the speech "if every moving company blah blah " really?! You guys have this non empathetic social media person responding to this problem? By the way I'm attaching a picture of the asshat who dropped most the fragile kitchen stuff in our move. This is the only moving company I'll recommend. They are absolute professionals. I was able to lock in my preferred date and timeframe with a small deposit of $250 for a local move with approximately 2.5 weeks notice. I was so relieved to have found this company had availability as I did check around to get other quotes and other moving companies in the area (ie Bookstore Movers) were already booked solid for a month and a half. This company really saved the day for me and got me my weekend move date. The pre move communication was on point up to move day. My team consisted of three movers at $210 per hour. I can't say enough good things about the team of movers. Energized, efficient and positive throughout these movers were highly experienced movers. All precautions were taken with my furniture such as shrink wrapping, blankets covering, etc. They did the minor disassembly of some pieces with care and ease. I'm so pleased to report that all my items arrived at the new location intact without any sign of damage. The move time was as quoted due to the movers being very efficient since the clock started. Moving is never fun and is a large expense; do yourself a favor and spend wisely by going with Two Men and a Truck. PS Keep them in mind for long-distance moves as well. read more

An absolutely awesome move. The pre-coordination with Sarah and Clint was perfect...their planning and management skills reduced the stress of the move. And the crew! Wow. Josh, David, Cortez, DJ, and Jim were outstanding. Watching them work together was like watching a professional basketball team. NOTHING was damaged in a two truck move from Springfield, VA to Richmond, VA. They wrapped anything that looked vulnerable so all of our wooden furniture went padded and plastic wrapped. They were courteous, polite, professional, and they all had a sense of humor! And they never stopped working. They treated the furniture and the houses with care and respect. They were always masked, except for the brief seconds outside when I took the image included. If you want a move with the least stress possible...call these guys! read more

One bedroom apartment move just across the street and I had two quality items of furniture (a new couch and a new dresser) that I emphasized to the team I did not want damaged. Nothing personal against the team that worked on the move - but they tore a big hole in in the corner of my new leather couch and scraped up the leg of my wooden dresser with white paint. Their basic insurance covers almost nothing (they are giving me $100, which will not come close to covering repairs to the couch). It's unfortunate because the rest of their packing was fine - but the two items I asked them not to damage - they damaged. Couldn't go any worse than that. If you must use this company recommend you buy max insurance, at the least, despite what they say before the move. Even then, why use a moving company that damages your most valuable furniture? read more

We had a terrible experience with this company. My husband hired them to assist with a move from Alexandria to Bethesda. He admits, he did not do enough research. Two Men and a Truck charged $180 per hour + 1 hour of travel time for 2 movers and a truck. When I did research on other moving companies, the going rate in the DC area for 3 movers and a truck is $125 per hour +$125 for travel time. The lack of research is on us, but buyer beware, do your homework. Also know that the company will ask you to sign digital contracts, but not have them printed for you. I personally prefer to sign paper contracts and not having these available delayed our move by 30-minutes and caused some frustration. The movers themselves were professional and overall did a good job (just item got chipped), but the organization of the office was frustrating. read more

Very impressed with my experience doing a self-move from Arlington to Alexandria. Two Men and a Truck provided terrific communications before, during and after the move. Moving personnel were on-time, professional, respectful, prepared and efficient. Total cost was - less - than the initial quote provided which was a pleasant surprise. Of note, no packing service was performed, just moving several large and heavy pieces of furniture from one residential location to the next (about 3 miles away). When minor damage to a desk occurred, the manager, Daniel, was quick to provide a solution to my satisfaction by dispatching a repairman (thanks Doug!) who not only made an excellent repair, but I believe made the furniture better than it was. Buyer beware. I had my house moved from Lorton to Alexandria. The movers were prompt and efficient. However, when they were delivering the furniture to the house, one of the movers was a bit clumsy and dropped a night stand on the hardwood floor destroying the nightstand and damaging the floor and wall right next to it. There was also damages to the refrigerator door and other walls. I paid for the highest insurance that could be provided. Note. You are required to use their "guys" to conduct repairs to your house. Their guys will call other "buds" to visit your house to affix repairs" A few months of back and fourth caused my my unavailability due to work and lack of contact to their contractor. Nothing has been done to fix it. Then they want to pay you off with 300 dollars to cover all repairs...... the nightstand cost 300 alone. And who knows about the refrigerator door. This is the second time I used them. No problems the first time. But if you value your privacy, and furniture go some where else when things get damaged. Don't bother to pay for the higher insurance coverage because it doesn't cover you for ANYTHING. And good luck in getting responses from them. read more

This place is a joke. To be clear: our two movers were polite, hard-working, and did a good job. They deserve to work at a better company. We paid an additional $100 for insurance and a memory foam mattress was damaged (on the phone the manager admitted the move was mis-identified as a two-person move when it should have been three) so the movers accidentally damaged the mattress. The company wanted to send a guy out twice to our home with glue to repair the mattress. We declined (the glue would be right between our heads and I can do something cheap and amateur myself, thank you). So the insurance covered it at a whopping $120 so I got a net $20 for the value of my RUINED MATTRESS. We completed the forms, sent the photos, made 3 phone calls, and sent multiple emails and endangered ourselves with pointless visits to our home with a stranger touching and turning our mattress and in our bedroom all for that $20 bucks. I expressed to them MULTIPLE TIMES that if the insurance was going to come in somewhere stupidly low then to just cut the check and be done because I didn't want to have them in my home again and they refused to acknowledge that and made us go through the process only to finally issue a stupid check that valued the whole ordeal at $20. ALSO we were closing on a new home so we were not physically at the move-out the whole time, which in that time, another move needed something off our truck, so the movers left to deliver that, taking half of our belongings on a joy ride around town without our permission NOR ANY NOTICE TO US WHATSOEVER. We received a very, very generous 30 minute credit against the 8 hours it took them to complete the understaffed move and of course you don't know if anything disappeared until you're unpacked fully and can audit your belongings. As I said, the two actual movers did the very best they could and they should certainly be given credit for their hard work. Our issues were with local management and the customer care/resolution team (some dude in Arlington and then Nick on their issues resolution team who doesn't answer emails nor respond to voicemails and when they need to send the inspectors out for damage claims he just sends them on his own schedule--he didn't call us, schedule it, answer emails inquiring about that--nope--he just sat on it for two weeks and when we started following-up aggressively he just sent the guy to our home with no notice then graciously gave us the $20 after a three week stretch following our move). This place is a total joke and we'll never, ever consider hiring them again and you should not either. read more

Now he says he won't send it on and can either return it to me here - meaning it won't make the move or discard it and includes personal paintings and handmade African fabric pillows I can't replace. Be careful with this company as some of their sales people engage in deceptive business practices. I gave them a credit card to hold a move for me and they told me as long as I provided 72 hours notice I could make any changes I needed. I called and gave them two weeks notice that I wouldn't be moving and they told me the hold was non-refundable. It took insisting a manager listen to their recording of my call with their sales person before the manager finally promised to refund me. Again this was after I provided them two weeks notice of cancellation- plenty of time to move someone else instead. read more

I initially spoke with Rick. He'll ask for a full inventory of everything you're moving, then he will calculate how much man power and time will be needed and give you the most accurate price for all the moving costs. Rick called the day before the move to confirm everything and to see if we had any last minute questions. The day of the move they showed up on time. We signed the documents and they began wrapping and moving our furniture. They were extremely quick. Once we got to our new place they did a quick walk through. We have a lot of stairs and many heavy pieces of furniture. Somehow they managed to get everything up and in with very little issue. The final cost was right in the range they said it would be. Hopefully I won't be moving anytime soon again, but if I have to I'd definitely use two men and truck again. read more

I wanted to clarify some of the issues the previous reviewer had noted. For starters, the reason you have a multiple man crew is so that there is enough man power to not only remove the items from your condo, but also, to watch the load (so items don't get stolen) and to secure the load. When people stop trying to tell professionals how to do their jobs, then maybe some of these reviews can have a little more validity. Second, they offered you valuation for your items. You chose to be cheap and not accept it. If my furniture was as nice and new as yours, I sure as heck would have spent the few extra to get the valuation to make sure it was taken care of. Thirdly, If you wife wasn't out badgering the men in the truck doing their job, and you weren't worried about the woman complaining about the elevator (which either needed to be reserved in the first place, or she could have just taken the stairs) then your items probably would have been taken care of a little better.. btw granite is not hard to break..... even in a blanket..... My experience with Two Men and A Truck has always been a great one! They are all trained very well, and are backed by a great system. Normally when you see reviews like the one below, it's from customers that don't understand what having a professional company move your items is supposed to be like, and they interfere in them doing their job efficiently. Damaged doors and door Jambs, were careless with furniture even after being told an item was irreplaceable.
