First, with a positive, the follow up and customer service is great. It has to be, due to the following comments listed. 2. Moved a 1 bedroom apt( bedframe , mattress, dresser , 2 TVs , and a sofa), and it took 5 hours , with a locked elevator , in the same building, separated by 2 floors.Everything additional was boxed or bagged. No loose items. 3. They attempted to change the charges the day of the move , even though we had confirmed less than 24 hours prior. Claimed the 3rd person Was due to their double booking, snow , etc . And the additional man would speed up the process . Did i mention this simple 1 bedroom move took 5 hours for an in building, one bedroom transfer? Does that seem expedited ? Everything was a group effort, and teaching moment. this slowed the move down. For example, it Took 20 minutes of discussion to figure out how to disassemble a bed frame efficiently . Constantly going back and forth to the moving truck on the clock ( for what idk ) . If not watched , disappearing for 15-20 minutes at a time . 4. I was advised that I could leave my dresser items in the drawers, and they could move them efficiently. I now have to find someone to take my dresser apart, due to items some how making their way to inside unreachable areas insiders dresser. 5. I have to find someone to reassemble my sofa. They didn't put it back together. 6. You're charged 30 minutes to and from . So, you owe an hour before they start . They didn't have to leave the property, but charged me fuel . How do you charge someone fuel, and time for arrival, and departure ? Seems like the rate is only labor . You're also charged for any items used to rap to transport furniture . The intimation that they try to give you when you book is that is inclusionary. 7. With a discount, A DISCOUNT, this move cost me $1,000. Between the random 3rd man up charge , wrapping items for the large furniture , fuel charge , insurance that they make you cover that they don't disclose until the last minute that is almost $200 additional ... 8. Moved my items into the hallway, and left them there unattended while moving. 9. Even if you pay by phone, they want you to write your credit card information on a random piece of paper. It's a hard NO, for me. Yes, I signed, and let them go about their business. It's exhausting to keep debating obvious discrepancies, and hidden fees during a move which is a top 3 stressor in general. Just .... Don't . Use someone else .

Unfortunately, my experience with both the employee and management was extremely disappointing and unprofessional. The employee I spoke with, Laura, appeared to lack the necessary knowledge and understanding of the company's services and pricing structure. During the call, I asked whether there would be any taxes or additional fees beyond the quoted flat rate. Laura responded by saying, "From what I have been told... no." I explained that I needed a clear and definitive answer and requested that, if she was unsure, she transfer me to someone who could provide accurate information. Laura placed me on hold and later returned to the call still unable to provide a direct or confident answer. I then expressed that her inability to answer basic questions made me feel as though she was not knowledgeable regarding her position. At that point, Laura became confrontational, spoke over me repeatedly, and insisted that she had already answered my question clearly and that she was fully capable of doing her job. Her tone and attitude became increasingly hostile and unprofessional. Due to her behavior, I stated that I no longer felt comfortable continuing the conversation with her and requested to speak with a manager. Instead of professionally transferring the call, Laura continued arguing with me. Roughly 15 minutes into the conversation, she then informed me that the call was being recorded. At no point at the beginning of the call was I advised that the conversation was being recorded, which I found highly concerning. I was eventually transferred to a manager named Rusty. Unfortunately, the interaction with management was no better. While attempting to explain my concerns, Rusty repeatedly interrupted me. When I asked if I could finish speaking, he responded, "Yes, if you would like," in a dismissive manner. After I explained the issues I experienced with Laura, Rusty stated that he "couldn't play sides" and would need to listen to the recording. I never asked him to take sides; my intention was simply to make management aware of the poor customer service experience so that no future customer would have to endure similar treatment. Rusty then stated that they "rarely receive complaints like this," implying that my concerns were unusual or questionable. I responded by saying that simply because complaints are rare does not mean poor treatment is impossible. Rusty accused me of misconstruing his words, which I was not doing. I was simply responding to his statement. He then claimed there appeared to be a "communication issue," when in reality the issue was the unwillingness of both the employee and management to acknowledge the unprofessional behavior and poor communication that occurred during the call. At that point, I informed Rusty that I felt the same confrontational attitude was being displayed by management and that I no longer felt comfortable trusting or spending my hard-earned money with the company. I then ended the call. Shortly after 9:00 AM, I received a voicemail from Rusty stating that he had reviewed the recorded call and believed the employee had answered my question. The voicemail entirely ignored the employee's inability to provide clear information, as well as the hostile and dismissive behavior displayed throughout the interaction. This experience was extremely disappointing and reflects a significant decline in customer service professionalism and accountability. As a hardworking United States Army Soldier, I dedicate my life to serving and protecting this country. I should not have to endure disrespect, hostility, or dismissive treatment simply for asking reasonable questions as a potential customer. I sincerely hope this matter is reviewed seriously so that future customers do not experience the same level of poor customer service and unprofessional conduct that I encountered.

I have concerns about ethical practices in this store. Over Christmas, I witnessed employees…read moreoutright lie to other customers about the cheapest option to ship a package; multiple people balked at the quoted price, reiterated they wanted the cheapest option without regard to timing, and were still met with very high quotes. I was as well, and I received the same "nope, this is cheapest" response--but after I pushed, the employee finally relented that there was another option (less than half the cost!) but "delivery date isn't guaranteed." As I'd already confirmed, I didn't need a guaranteed delivery, so I took that cheapest option. Today I witnessed something similar. A customer was trying to ship a small box (perhaps 8x12x4-pretty standard Amazon-ish box) and was told the cheapest price was upwards of $240!! He confirmed that was the cheapest price, and asked to see the screen--at which point the employee conceded "well there's this option that isn't guaranteed but estimated for Thursday..." Same old song and dance. The customer declined to pay, stating when he checked online, the estimate was $14. The employee responded "yeah, that might only be when YOU print the label." WTF?? The customer left. At my turn, my label "wouldn't scan" and they suggested I print another one (printing starts at $3.50, per the sign at their desk); I declined. I plan to take my package to another store and see if it scans there (it's a pre-printed return label, not like a half-hazy home inkjet print), and $5 says they have no issues at another store It's such a shame because this location is so convenient, but I've seen enough sketchiness to go elsewhere from now on.

This store has implemented a discriminatory policy regarding picking up a package. They prohibit a spouse with a different last name from picking up a package (even though the spouse has the UPS email with their name and that email shows the tracking number). This runs counter to the specific instructions from UPS: "Option 3: Present a government-issued photo ID where the full address or name on the ID matches the full address or name on the package. If the last name or full address doesn't match, you will need to provide the package tracking number to the UPS Access Point representative. " The store's explanation is that they've set their own policy that the package recipient must be the person picking up the package. The store would not take the steps to validate my ability to pick up the package (i.e. Option 3). When I pointed out the specific UPS policy noting Option 3, the response was that the store's policy was the drivers license of the person to whom the package is addressed must be presented. When I restated that this runs contrary to Option 3 from the specific UPS policy, the store responded that they could set their own policy. This discriminates against same sex couples, domestic partner couples, or other relationship statuses. Do not give your business to such an entity. Avoid and use another UPS store.

This was an interstate move (DC to PA) in less-than-ideal conditions (we had to move an adult family member out of the apartment). The crew, Roberto and Harry, were empathetic, caring, and incredibly efficient with packing, loading, and unloading the one-bedroom apartment. I spent the day worrying (needlessly) that the storage unit I had rented was too small. The crew fit all of the items neatly and safely into a 5x10' unit with room to spare. I've never seen anything like it. I also want to give kudos to the front office. They were the first company to respond to my inquiry, answered all of my questions patiently, and kept us informed about when the crew was arriving. The value that we received for the price was off the charts. Put Potomac Moving Company at the top of your list. I would not hesitate to call them again for a move if the need arose.

When I returned and started to move in I noticed piles of mouse droppings all around the perimeter of the unit walls! I had to turn on my flashlight to see because the lighting in the unit isn't great. I immediately removed my things and left. I called the after hours number and cancelled my lease. I wish I'd read the reviews and not wasted my time. Since this place clearly has a pest issue it's interesting that one of the other workers (Aiden) bragged that others have moved to THIS location due to rats at OTHER storage facilities. So that was either a BLATANT LIE or he is negligently unaware that the place where he works is just as dirty. SMH. I'm actually glad the office was closed when I got back because I might have been convinced to move to other unit. However, this level of infestation is definitely throughout the building. I had previously rented with them and was impressed with their climate controlled, clean facility, so I thought it was my best option. Mini U saved the day! Within minutes, I had secured two large units (discounted for the first month), and our movers were able to unload us quickly using one of the several loading dock options. Mini-U also allows renters to use a courtesy van or truck for a very reasonable $20, and that definitely came in handy a few weeks later. Special shout-out to Kierston, who is a model for customer service and professionalism. She was extremely compassionate and calm during my stressful situation. She reached out when she noticed I hadn't locked my unit completely, and also when I was nearing the end of my rental term to make sure I didn't get overcharged. She's a nice, pleasant lady who cares about people and treats them well. I would definitely, definitely rent here again.

After they left I realized they did not pack anything in the medicine cabinet and forgot to pack an entire kitchen cabinet and drawer. They took my formal shoes (beaded and glitter) out of their shoe boxes and dumped them in the bottom of a big box underneath my sneakers and boots! When I went back to clean my apartment I found the pile of shoe boxes they left in a closet. They took dirty clothes out of a laundry basket and packed them with clean clothes. They put ceramic items in a box with other random stuff without wrapping it up. AND, they removed the cords to my TVs and speakers and I haven't found them yet, nearly a week later. I contacted the company to complain and did not recieve a response., I have a marble end table and the top somehow came unglued. One of the crew knew it happened but didn't mention it until I asked why the top wasn't attached. They were just like, oh well. Glue it back.., UPDATE: they did not respond to my emails until I posted this review. I have not heard back from them about this 'investigation.' I have photos of the items they forgot to pack and the pile of shoeboxes left behind hidden in a closet, etc. Not sure how they are 'investigating' on their end.
