We hired TwoMenAndATruck-Champaign for our local (about 2 miles) move within Champaign, IL. We were moving from a 2-bed/1.5-bath apartment and had boxed up everything possible and bought lots of moving supplies. Not only was our move extremely expensive(estimated: ~$750, actual: $1130), but the truck couldn't fit all our furniture meaning we have to again schedule another move. The movers who came to move our stuff were great, but the office team rented a 16' truck (instead of the 20' truck we were promised) which slowed the process and by extension cost us a significant amount of money and effort. Here are specific details of why we feel cheated, lied to, and overcharged: 1) Based on our move date, we were informed that we would be getting a 20-ft truck. However, when the movers came they got a smaller truck (16-ft). We were not informed by Jamie/Christina about the change of truck size. This is highly unprofessional and we feel that we were lied to and that the company did not even bother apologizing or informing us of why this happened. 2) Since the truck was smaller (through no fault of ours or the moving guys, but only due to the office staff), the movers spent over 3 hours just trying to adjust the stuff to make it fit and hence they ended up charging us almost TWICE the estimated amount. Again, we were not expecting such a hefty bill and felt cheated by the company. The final amount we paid was $1130 while the estimate is 607.50-877.50 3) The movers were woefully under equipped. Thankfully I had a handtruck they could use along with plastic wrap. This might be due to the fact that they didn't have their own truck but were using a rented Penske truck. If they were going to rent a truck anyway, why couldn't they just rent the appropriate size one instead of getting one that's way too small?! 4) Since the truck was smaller, the movers left so much of our stuff back at the original apartment. Hence, we have to schedule another move for tomorrow (costing more money, time, and energy). Full disclosure, I sent my complaint through the corporate complaint form and someone from the office called the next day. Unfortunately I was at work in the middle of a meeting and unable to respond. For the next two weeks I've attempted to return the call and talk to the manager. I've left many messages with Jamie/Christina, left messages on the automatic machine, called during different times of day. I HAVE HEARD NO RESPONSE. I can only conclude that the office staff including the managers are not interested in providing the bare minimum customer service. I have never been treated so badly by a business and encourage anyone else to look elsewhere for moving help. read more

Horrible experience with two men and a truck. The guys are not moving fast and the white guy out of the two guys rest to smoke and can bary carry anything heavy during a 1.5 hour moving frame and had some fun for himself during the moving. The black guy worked deligently while the white guy seems to be lazy and not caring at all. Have no idea why pair them together, one is hard-working while the other is super laid-back. Never going to use them again, unprofessional and lazy workers. They are no better than moving on your own. I would rather spend $149/hours somewhere else! I hired two men and a truck to move a commercial oven as well a commercial refrigerator when I called to set up the move I made it very clear that these were commercial items the lady on the phone (Jamie) made it very clear to me that the guys move these types of heavy Items all the time I was quoted 4 hours to do the job the items were located in Georgetown being moved to Rantoul I was not charge for four hours I was charge for six hours I was quoted approximately $750 but in the end I paid over $1000 please do not use this company they are dishonest and very unprofessional The crew that came here to deliver my items complained about everything from the items being too heavy Even though I was told they move these kind of items all the time this situation turned into such a nightmare I had to call a friend over to assist with helping move my oven in never was I discounted for that two of the employees stayed in the truck I had to help move my oven in myself I was not offered any kind of discount in fact The manager came out the following day I showed him the pictures of them not removing the shelving units from refrigeration and oven he saw that they were tossed all around inside he promised to get back to me within a couple of days it has now been over a month since they were here and I have not had any response at all I texted the manager yesterday And still have not gotten any response the crew wasted hours complaining showing their unprofessionalism none of them even wore a mask even though me and my friend did they did not me and my friend had to show these movers how to get the refrigerator off the truck they were trying to take it in a door that was too small so they wasted hours and I was charged for it Please if you want a professional move and honest and friendly service look elsewhere! read more

I've used Two Men and a Truck for years, and have always recommended them to others. This last experience unfortunately was not a positive one, and I felt compelled to share it with others. I had hired Two Men and a Truck to move my uncle. My uncle has serious health issues and is immunocompromised, and Two Men and Truck advertises that they protect the safety and health of it's customers by having the movers wear masks: https://twomenandatruck.com/movers/il/champaign. My uncle had also indicated to the movers that he wanted them to wear masks, so when I got to my uncle's house towards the end of the move, I was disappointed to see one of the movers going in and out of the house and not wearing a mask, and the other mover wearing a mask but having it below his nose, making it essentially useless.  After the move, I reported this to the sales agent, Christina Kurowski, at the Champaign office and didn't receive a response. We can only assume that the lack of response implies that Two Men and a Truck endorse this kind of behavior. read more

The move from Champaign to Chicago took about 11hrs and resulted in 1 broken television, 1 broken China cabinet, broken glass, dinged furniture, and that's just what I know of since I'm still unpacking. Boxes were placed wherever they felt like it making more work for me. We filled out the survey and called to complain. We got a call back, but missed it, however we called right back and haven't gotten any communication since. Moreover, the move was $500 more than quoted. read more

I used Two Men and a Truck on 7/3/2019 and will never use the Central Illinois branch again. The move went pretty good and the guys were pretty awesome except when they backed into my gutters and damaged them. Long story short, "after end investigation" they said there is no proof they caused the damage and they won't fix what they damaged. I talked to the previous home owner and they said the gutters were not damaged when they lived there or when they left and I didn't have any other moving company helping with the move. The damage happened when they tried to back down the narrow driveway. They had a really big truck and that was the only thing that cause this damage, you can clearly see it was crushed by the corner of the truck. Never do business with this company anymore! Sometimes, the moving team just chat and rest within the truck! The moving should take 1 and half hour, but they will charge you with three hours fee. I've moved several times over the past few years, and my experience with Two Men and a Truck, by far, was the worst. 1 star for the movers: They are not professional and are not capable of doing what they are supposed to do: moving the furniture. We have a massage chair that was on the 2nd floor and wanted to move it to the 2nd floor of the new address. At the new address, the mover did not make any effort to move the massage chair to the upstairs. In fact, they have made their mind not to move it upstairs, once they unloaded the massage chair. So, they left the chair in the middle of the living room, and we had to hire another company to move it upstairs, and based on what we've heard from the Two Men and a Truck movers, we expected the new mover to have a hard time moving the chair. But, they just did it perfectly, in less than 5 mins. They were actually surprised that the other movers refused to move it. 2 stars for the office: Next day, I called the office to get reimbursed for what I had to pay to other movers. But, they told me the issue is related to the "operational" section and they are the "sales". I asked them to connect me to the operational team (because only the sales team number is publicly available), but they refused, and instead, promised to refer my case to the relevant team. I did not hear back from them for one week. So, I called again. They apologized and promised me to do the reimbursement, which I've not received yet. I "might" get reimbursed finally, only for what I've paid extra for the other movers, but they cannot compensate for the lots of trouble and inconvenience they caused (dealing with the massage chair in the middle of the living room for a week, scheduling for new movers, etc.) So, I decided to share my experience with the prospect customer that might find this helpful. Back in 2018 I hired them to move within the Champaign area. I had been driving over clothes, small boxes, pots and pans, for the preceding couple of days and just needed the movers for the large, heavy stuff so a already had a lot of stuff in place, like some colognes sitting on my nightstand. They sent a guy and a girl to move, while I was helping the girl re-assemble my sectional with the locking mechanism the guy was alone in my bedroom. Later after they left I noticed an expensive bottle of Macy's designer cologne was no longer there, so the employees they hire will STEAL from you. It never showed up and can only have been stolen. I mentioned my concerns about this twice to the company and they never followed up with me at all about this. I don't know if this guy had a criminal record or not that would show up on a background check, but a good portion of the population of our community are of bad character so I'd suspect the employment pool around here is not "Lake Woebegone" folk. Be careful, they employees here STEAL from you while moving. Keep any valuables locked in your car trunk until after they leave and hope they haven't just cased you out for a burglary by them or their friends. read more

Hired this group to move my sister from Chicago to Champaign. Had one of the movers ask me for 'pain killers' for a sore tooth while off loading her items. When I offered Motrin, he asked me for something stronger. I mentioned this to my sister (she didn't arrive until after they had unloaded her belongings). She told me he asked her the same thing in Chicago while moving her belongings out of her condo. Also, had a camcorder stolen from my basement (which is where they were moving much of my sister's belongings). Subpar experience from beginning to end. First of all, it's SO difficult to book with them. There are endless hoops to jump through and it takes forever to answer their questions. The team that showed up had hustle, so I appreciated that since we were paying by the hour. However, they didn't plan ahead well, so at the end there was a crib left that had to be dismantled to get through the door. One guy with their only toolkit spent 45 min. taking it a part while the other three guys just sat in the truck. At $345/hour, you can see how that might be aggravating. The head of the team kept acting like he didn't understand our frustration. Then upon arrival, 3 large items were damaged. We only asked for compensation on one. They took the report and said Two Men & a Truck would contact us, but we never heard anything at all. I would have expected it to go better considering we spent $2,000 (the most expensive option in town) for 1 truck and 4 guys to do 5 hours of work. read more

I do not know how to even start. They messed up the move, banged up pretty much every piece of furniture, but asked for immediate payment. Almost six weeks and an additional BBB complaint later, and we still have not gotten our furniture back from the repair shop. Not upset with the movers but the manager who keeps making false promises day after day about when we will get our things back in shape. Covid-19 should not be an excuse for such outstandingly bad service. Will file yet another complain with BBB as I see no other way out. I am writing this review while they are moving me. I moved into brand new construction with no scuff marks, dings or chipped dry wall. Guess what? I am going to have all those once they are done in about 10 minutes. Movers are polite and also smell like marjuiana, now I know the reason of scuffed , dinged and chipped walls. I called this company. They were friendly & scheduled an assessment with us. I took the day off of work to meet them only to have them not show up. When I called to find out where they were, they said their corporate office was down so they "lost" all their appointments. We rescheduled and my husband took the day off only to have a 2nd no show. I am editing my previous post. To sum it up though, my problem was that we did not get what we had paid for. The workers were polite, but did not do what they were asked to do. Almost half of what we paid was just for boxes, which should have never been used in the first place. Trash was also packed, and a box was packed within another box. It was just a huge mess and I was very upset. After posting this review as a 1, I continued unpacking at our new place, and found another really irritating thing (the box within a box). So I called the management. They are refunding us for all the boxes. The person I initially spoke to was extremely helpful. She listened to my concerns, and understood where I was coming from. This may not seem like a lot, but these days, customer service is something I really appreciate. She said she would inform her manager and have her call me. She said it might be Monday because it was the end of the work week. I figured it would be Monday. It wasn't though! She called me back within a couple hours :) She also was very nice and understanding. She was disappointed with what happened, and did not go on the defensive at all. She completely got why I was so upset and she was upset too. She agreed to issue me a refund based on what happened, for the boxes we were not supposed to have in the first place. This was more than I expected, and I really appreciated it. I am changing the stars to 4 instead of 1. I would like to give them a 5 because the company itself really does take care of it's customers. They are helpful and that is rare in this day and age. However since the packers themselves were a problem, I feel like it would be a dishonest review to give it 5 stars. So I will give 4 stars to the company, but not for the workers themselves. Just had an excellent experience. I was quoted based on my verbal description of the apartment for 4.5 hours, but they actually came in at 3.5. Everything was wrapped and packed well and nothing was damaged in transit or on delivery. Both movers were very friendly and made sure my furniture was exactly where I wanted it. We used 2 Men and a Truck to move our son and daughter out of an apartment house on Monday, 12/04/17. We had used a different, much less expensive mover to move them in, and was not going to make that mistake a 2nd time. You get what you pay for! All in all, it was a very good experience. From talking/emailing with Katy who emailed us the quote and set up the move, to the movers themselves, Adam and Brandon, the whole thing went smoothly. Everyone we had contact with at 2 Men and a Truck, which included Travis, Chris, Kayla, and Kristen (?), were so nice and eager to make our move as smooth as possible. I told Adam and Brandon as soon as they walked into the apartment that my daughter's sectional (two piece) would be the toughest piece of furniture to get out the door. Unlike the movers before, Adam wrapped both pieces in moving blankets and shrink wrap, which helped tremendously in getting them through the narrow doorway of the 100+ year old home. It took the three of us to get the L shaped part through the door, but because it was so well protected, we were able to use a little more force to do so. Adam and Brandon finished up loading and then transported everything to the kids' new digs and once there had to carry it all up several stairs to the 2nd floor apartment. They did some extras they probably didn't have to do, but we appreciated it. Like when Adam and Brandon got one of the bed frames, which is heavy and wooden, into it's place, Adam felt the frame needed tightened, so he tightened all the bolts. Very nice. When they had finished unloading, the time had gone over 1 hour more than what we had expected, but still, it was money well spent. There was no way my wife and two adult children, all 3 who have either neck, back, or knee issues, would have been able to move the furniture up those stairs. I moved from a home in St. Joseph, Illinois to a condo in Champaign March 30,2019. An antique dresser with glass Knobs for handles was missing one knob. When I called about it, they did track down the truck and found the knob in it. I appreciated that. For about the first year after I moved, I was preoccupied with redoing the condo. It was basically gutted, a wall removed, hard wood flooring installed, new kitchen appliances and cabinets installed. Then the pandemic arrived. Between both I didn' go much of anywhere. Then I offered to give my granddaughter a pair of hoop earrings I had. My jewelry "box" is a hanging mirror-fronted wall cabinet my late husband gave me. When I opened the door, I realized immediately a lot of valuable jewelry was missing! 14K gold teardrop shaped earrings from Tiffany's, 14K gold hoop earrings from London, a diamond tennis brace, an emerald necklace and bracelet, a jade ring and earrings, etc. Those movers must have had a great time! I have to believe someone is moving every day in C/U. Why is there only one review total for all moving companies in this area? Rate your movers - it's helpful. Well, it would have been helpful had I had a chance to read any reviews. I did a pretty good evaluation of my options but still ultimately decided on a non-licensed mover. I still don't see it as a personality flaw on my part, as the owner of TM&AT seemed to think. He gave me an "I-told-you-so" lecture when he realized who I originally booked with. It's true, non licensed moving companies are basically scofflaws and I was well aware. Unfortunately, that decision bit me in the ass. The company was nowhere to be found on the morning of my move. Fortunately... Two Men and a Truck was very accommodating. I had a previous estimate on file with them and they were able to work me into their schedule within 36 hours (luckily, I did have a cushion of time before my lease was up). My movers were friendly and conscientious of their work. I didn't move far but I felt my items were packed securely. I would have no trouble recommending these movers and will use them again when the time comes. I am mainly rating the friendliness of Laura, who seemed to be the main office person, and my movers, James and ?name? (sorry!), and their work. They are getting 5 *s from me since in spite of a haughty owner, they did a 5* job. read more

I told them about my large mirrors, and the office staff said they would have materials, but of course they had nothing and had to send back.
