I had a chance to run in here last month while my daughter was at ski lessons and what a treat! Books were on clearance for $1 that day! YES - $1 books! Came home with a giant bag filled with books to overfill our already filled bookshelves! But hey, since when could one have too many books? Once Upon a Child is HANDS DOWN the best consignment store chain for used children's clothing and accessories. I've frequented them in Edmonton for several years now and even visited one in Saskatoon! You can drop off your gently used clothing and toys to trade in for store credit if you'd like as well. They offer a frequent purchaser stamp card to earn discounts and usually have coupons in the SUTP coupon book. They are on facebook and have an e-mail list if you would like advance notice for upcoming sales and specials! They also carry new items like Melissa & Doug at prices below what you would find at Toys R Us. Once Upon A Child is most definitely a dream come true for frugal shoppers who know that a baby outfit may get worn once or not at all!

I have been shopping here for 22 years, three daughters. From newborn up to teens and adults and…read morematernity. Its amazing, the owner treats anyone who walks through the door like family. The store space has high ceilings that add spaciousness to the assorted shelves and displays. The selection she has in this store is unique, the rare finds from vintage to up to date are very good quality. She has a little bit of everything, toys, books, games, clothing, outdoor toys, sensory, wall decor, starter plants, movies, kids furniture, so much more. She will even be your personal shopper if you know what you are looking for and she will set it aside. I personally like her selection of yoga and workout lulu lemon attire. For your Mayfield Common Location…read more There is a high turnover of supervisors. The manager does not get along with any of her staff and will cause drama to get any employee in trouble. Outperforming the manager causes her to become insecure with herself so she will personally attack employees. Every employee present or past have a conflict with Dawn (manager). Even the relationship with Dawn and regional manager is very conflicting and petty. Dawn works only once in awhile for this location and expects supervisors to do all the work for her. Time for new management who will actually put in the work! Very lazy manager! Manager brings no value to the workplace.

You can hit some seriously good sales here and best part - you can return clothing to them with receipts and tags still on forever. So don't be afraid to stock up for next summer or winter and if your kiddo goes through a bizarre growth spurt you can still return. The staff are always willing to check for sizes at another store and I find are pretty friendly overall. The checkout lines always seem to move slow... not sure why but be prepared to wait. They carry Kombi gloves/hats which you can also buy at MEC or Campers Village for twice the price. I'll often get them here at 50% off or more after winter for the next season (super warm, washable, and durable). My kids love the Carters PJ's and at Xmas time they get in footed ones up to size 12. I'd really LIKE to see them bring in a 14 so my kids could continue to have adorable matching Xmas footie onesies but I know, I know... they have to stop the sizes at some point. I was greeted by Wonder Woman (it was Halloween) and she was very friendly and helpful. She let me browse the store without pressure (which I really appreciate because some stores can put a lot of pressure on you to purchase). Other than Christmas decorations, Jilly's a bit of everything! There is clothing in the back (it's very expensive though - so expensive I almost choked on my gum). They also have numerous home decor items, candles, bath and soap products, they have a lot of stuff. The sale section towards the back of the store drew me in immediately (it had purses). Despite the address being on 122 St, it's actually located in a ground floor suite right on 121 St right across from the Brewery District, close-ish to 104 Ave. There is angled parking out front. It's a cute and quaint little boutique filled with treasures beautifully displayed. My favourite was a selection of jewelry tucked in between pages of an antique novel by the door (when you see it, you'll understand). There was inspirational home decor, some cool stuff like concrete diamonds, some baby and kid's clothing (including these adorable baby headbands), lots of unique jewelry, cool razors, little succulents.. It's a bit like shopping at a local market but with everything in one pretty place. There is even a little coffee corner at the back. Prices seemed pretty reasonable. I would definitely recommend popping if you're looking for some unique gifts.

I don't know if it's the smells coming from the home decor section but it is overwhelming. Their home decor section is the area that holds my interest the most. I can quickly update the look of my home with a few toss cushions, window treatments and wall decorations without breaking the bank. They also have items that are well suited for shower and wedding gifts. I can navigate the store with a cart without a problem, but I don't understand having carpet in such a huge store. Wouldn't that be a total pain to keep clean? Anyway, they also have furniture and bedding. My sister bought her leather couch here a couple years ago and has been very happy with it. I guess their pieces are built well. A large focus of their furniture section is knotty pine. I'm not a huge fan of this style of wood. You can get a back of tea lights for a couple bucks which is a good thing because I burn through them like crazy!
