Dave Halberstam is the most dishonest person we have ever dealt with in the English sports car hobby. He had our MGA Twin Cam for a year to replace the engine with one we supplied. All he did was tear up the interior in that time. We stopped by his shop every single week and all we got from him were lies and excuses until we finally got fed up and pulled the car from him. I'm planning on coming back to this establishment for sure! I have been getting my car serviced at Hyundai on Abercorn (now owned by Peacock) since I purchased my car in 2011. The last time I went there was because my AC was only blowing cold on the passenger side. My husband and I were told in order to fix the issue we would have to pay over $800 because the mechanic would have to open up the dash in order to fix the part. (Blend door) After peacock Hyundai said that they recharged the system, added free-on and did other diagnostic tests we had to pay $200 even though the problem was not fixed, that's when we were quoted $800 for the rest. We decided to go to Two Nuts and a Bolt to see if we could get another opinion on the matter. TWO NUTS AND A BOLT FIXED THE PROBLEM IN MINUTES! Not only was it JUST the free-on and recharge that needed to be done, they didn't even charge me because they felt bad that the dealership was trying to get me to pay for a diagnostic test when the problem wasn't even diagnosed! It is with a heavy heart that I write such a review regarding Two Nuts and a Bolt. However, it is important that what needs to be expressed is done so. I have a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid. I just bought the vehicle in February 2017 from a dealer in Florida, and regrettably chose not to invest in an extended service warranty. I found Dave after experiencing some issues with my Hybrid system and TN&AB was the only shop in Savannah who seemed confident to work on Hybrid vehicles. After an initial consultation about a hybrid issue, he was unable to diagnose anything wrong with the vehicle. $136.28 for a diagnostic fee, and I was no better off. In April of this year, I took it back. This time it was shooting off a code for Cylinder 8 misfire. I took it back to Dave, under the pretense that it was related to the hybrid system that was previously undiagnosed. I first took it to the Dealer who wanted me to buy a new engine. Another mechanic suggested replacing the engine. Dave said he could fix the issue. Turns out Cylinder 8 had a stuck lifter. He replaced the whole side of lifters and the head gasket. He charged $1600 and had the vehicle for a week. I was ecstatic that I saved almost $3000. For the next five months, I still had periodic hybrid issues. Had several people look at and eliminate the Hybrid Battery as being the problem, though even a Battery expert and a GM Dealership was unable to pinpoint the true cause. The Dealer was actually able to identify a loose battery terminal as an issue (last touched by Dave's team). It ran very smooth for nearly two weeks. Then on Labor Day, the car started acting like it was riding on rumble strips. This time it was Cylinder 6 (same side Dave worked on in April) and I had to have the car towed back to Dave's shop. This experience was by far the worst I experienced. Dave had my car for SIX WEEKS and only once called me rather than me calling. He would ignore my calls, tell me different stories - from a bent rod, to unseated valves, to grime in the oil system clogging the ports, etc. This time he removed the whole cam shaft and replaced it. I saw where the lobes on Cylinders 6 & 8 were visibly worn. Another $1,600 down the tubes. In all honesty, this completely negated the work done in April. Had he replaced the cam shaft, cleaned the ports, replaced the lifters, replaced all the plugs and wires back in April, it would have been the same price and I would not have had to return. Immediately after getting my car back the 2nd time, it was misfiring again. This time in Cylinder 7. I also had a broken engine mount that he never considered during the 6 weeks he had it. That led to a busted exhaust donut gasket. I took it back a third time. This time, it took a week to replace a spark plug, the engine mount and the gasket and he charged $800. Almost a fair price. I didn't argue because at this point, he had still saved me money. But Cylinder 7 was STILL misfiring! No way I was going to take it back to someone now who doesn't talk straight with me, ignores my phone calls, tells me every week that they are putting it back together now. So I removed all the spark plugs on the odd side of the engine myself. What do you know? The spark plug in Cylinder 7 IS THE WRONG PLUG! It's an AC Delco 41-629 instead of a 41-926 or 41-110 or, what was in every other cylinder, a 41-985. I replaced all the odd plugs with my 41-110s and it NOW runs without misfire. By now I've spent $4000, and had the car in the shop for TWO out of the 8 months I've owned the vehicle. Granted, a 20% discount over the next closest bid to do all that work in one shot but probably completed within a week or sooner. Conclusion: Dave is either dishonest or incompetent. I don't think he's dishonest. I really feel like this vehicle challenged him. I greatly appreciate that he truly tried to save me money. I know he probably put more money into this car than I paid him (but by no fault of the job - rather a steep learning curve on the part of his crew). But I did get extremely frustrated by the lack of communication, the repeated returns to the shop, the indifference he had for having my vehicle for up to 6 weeks, and the way he talks about other customers behind his back, probably no different than what he says about me when I'm not in front of him. But I can say this for sure. I will never, ever, bother him with my vehicle again. It's not fair to him to present him with such a challenge. read more

I grew up in Savannah, my mom grew up in Savannah, and throughout our driving lives we have been hornswoggled by almost every shady, incompetent, backwoods, deceitful nincompoop mechanic/shop in this town... *** That was mostly before the advent of the internet - Where you can now go Google problems/symptoms your car is having - And/or parts and prices - So it has - OR SHOULD HAVE become a lot harder for the crappy mechanics mafia out there to rip people off...but alas, they still try... I dropped the car off late one afternoon recently and the next day by noon it was ready to be picked up. These guys are professionals and repair things correctly. Waste of time, my vehicle sat out front for a month and a half. The first call from Dave was how do I start this vehicle...:::: not a good first sign. Was assured my issue was the computer. I bought a new one and installed it myself for him so all he had to do from what he told me needed to be done was program the key. A month later still nothing. This guy is a hack. Please don't waste your time. Found British 4X4 in Jacksonville. worth the two hours. Dave and his guys here move like pond water. Literally watch another guy sit at the desk all day. The desk is sweat stained from his ever growing gut and candy bar wrappers. Dave promises deadlines with No follow through. He conveniently will tell you multiple times he'll call you on Friday and then you have to wait until Monday to see if maybe he'll answer his phone. Worst experience of my life! Brought my mini in for a new/used transmission that was $4,500. We paid half up front and asked if he could keep our car there until we pay the other half in a few weeks. "Sure no problem. Take your time. I'll go ahead and order the parts." Well, January 2nd the car was paid in full and he said he would order the part now. Lie #1. It should've already been ordered. From then until now, MARCH 25 has been lie after lie. Here are some ridiculous excuses he told why my car wasn't ready just to name a few 2. The transmission didn't come with all the parts. I have to order new parts 3. We all have the flu in the shop 4. I need to find a computer with windows 7 to make transmission work 5. Flu again 6, Three cars who need transmissions ahead of you 7. Transmission won't work because horn is not working 8. Diagnostics guy is out of town 9. Family emergency Those are just the ones I can think of off the top of my head. My husband has a myriad of excuses on text from Dave. Anyway, he is either doesn't know have to truly fix transmissions, or he robs Peter to pay Paul, but he is very dishonest. This father/daughter operation is very friendly and fair and has a very knowledgeable team of technicians. I went to have my aftermarket suspension changed out, and in the process they offered to fix an electrical sensor issue I had known about for a while. They quoted the job at approx. 2hrs, and it ran longer, but only charged me for the 2 hrs. I had a chance to chat with the technician before and after, and I got to inspect the work, which was very clean & professional. Pricing and quality is awesome. They have oil change deals all the time. I found them on the car talk guys website, and I couldn't be happier. Brought my car here after i stupidly drove it through some water. I found this garage on Google and thought "why not"? I brought my car here basically in tears Cuz I was going to sell the car that day and was told the engine was shot and would probably never work again. I was introduced to Mr. Dave and his son and they worked on my car for at least 2 1/2 hours straight and then he called me at work and told me my intank was flooded but he was able to get the water off it and get it running and he told me a reasonable price for all the work. A truly great repair shop. I called this shop in a panic because on a Friday afternoon (of a holiday weekend to make it worse) our Mini Cooper battery died. My husband and I were on our way from Florida to South Carolina for vacation and could not find a Mini Cooper dealership anywhere near us. We called this shop and explained to Mr. Haberman our problem. Even though it was a holiday weekend and he had originally planned to close the shop early, he told us to come on by. We rolled into the shop an hour later after being jumped off and he had a new battery waiting for us. All of the employees at the shop were friendly and efficient. Mr. Haberman saved our vacation! The worst. Took my car in to be reupholstered. Paid in full in advance. Promised it would be ready in 1 week. After 3 weeks of being promised that the car would be ready again and again, picked up my car - the upholstery had been ripped off the passenger seat. The back seat was torn out. The pieces were scattered all over the shop. I gathered the pieces and put them in a box (the owner put the seat back and didn't bolt it down, that's how I drove the car off the shop). The guy who was supposed to do the upholstery never showed up to work. He said he would pay for the car rental, gave me a check and then stopped payment on the check. The worst. I took my car to this shop for front end noise...6 months later and over 3k spent the problem was never fixed. I had if fixed in one day at another shop. Dave Haberman made so many claims and promises that I lost track. He said he would refund my money over and over for months and I have never recieved a dime. I should have researched this shop better as the are the worst I have ever experienced in my life. Look at BBB rating...its an F, worse you can get. I won a uncontested law suit against Dave ( uncontested) but have never recieved the refund won or promised. Audi, BMW, Mini and Landrovers should stay way clearrrrrrr of this rip off shop. Dave seems like he knows cars. But this shop is disorganized and I ended up being given the run around for 3 whole weeks. Brought car in and they gave me a diagnosis, Dave called me that day within 3 hours. He said to leave it with them and they'd come back with a repair plan. Tried calling them over two days 3 times a day to no avail. Third day I finally get them, I go pick up the car to be returned the following weds when the parts arrive. I show up: they r too busy. Guy in front whole time keeps saying he didnt hear from Dave. Come back the following friday as they suggest, and again they are too busy but agree to look at my car. New issues are found and new parts ordered. I told them I had to take car on a trip thursday & they say come back tuesday 8am and will "have a lift ready for your vehicle and get you fixed by the end of the day". Show up tuesday 8am, guess what, the front office guy didnt even know "if Dave ordered (my) parts". That was today, was told Dave would call me after 10am when he got in.... Never heard from them. Plain simple disorganization. It was an unpleasant experience, will not reccommend them to anyone nor will I go back. read more

I took my 06 mustang gt down there to get my kw clubsport coilovers off the front and put some koni yellows, new springs and some Steeda HD upper strut mounts on. I went there because it was the most available and competitive price. Work done there was good. Torque specs were followed and he didn't mind me checking on the work being done, which can irritate some business'. Dave was knowledgeable, friendly and service was timely. I will try and make this short although I could supplement with much more detail. I brought my 2005 Volvo to Two Nuts and a Bolt (TN&B) to have the timing belt replaced as recommended by the car manufacturer at 130K miles (I was about 140K). TN&B replaced the belt and water pump for just under a grand. Six months later one evening my wife was returning from a business trip in Atlanta and the car shut down on the highway. It would not start. We had it towed to a repair shop and she got to a hotel. The next day we find out the timing belt broke (if you do not know, when this happens it pretty much blows your engine) and the engine was shot. We needed a new engine & timing belt...$2,800, actually a decent price. I called Dave Haberman (TK&B) and let him know what happened. Apparently the bar that the belt ran around was bent and it slowly had slid to the side and had worn itself in two. Dave and I came to an agreement that he would pay for half of the repair which I was satisfied with. Upon repairing the car in Atlanta and getting it home I brought it to the shop, accompanied with photographs of the damage and the damaged part. Dave said it was the manufacturer's problem and would look to get a refund. I could go on but I will say that I stopped by the shop several times over three months to be told Dave was unavailable or he was still working on it. After that there were no returned calls, although I would call every other week. There were also no returned e-mails. Almost a year has passed and I have never heard a word from Dave Haberman or TK&B. You judge for yourself, but I am in the service industry and if you cannot stand behind your work and your word you do not get return business.
