I am from out of state here working. I went in for an all over color. I have been battling breast cancer for two years. So, my hair is still to short for highlights. I explained all of this to my stylist. She still made my hair a light red instead of blonde. It was suppose to be an all over color. I was very disappointed. My family and I recently returned to Abilene after 22 years, so I was in search of a new barber. My mother-in-law recommended her stylist, Christian Light. I paid my first visit to Christian today at her brand new salon in Abilene - TX Roots Salon & Spa - and she didn't disappoint!! The salon is very spacious, clean, and nicely renovated. Christian did a wonderful job on my hair. She is a wonderful young lady with a very pleasant personality. If you are looking for a good stylist/barber you can trust, give Christian a try. I called this salon because it came highly recommended about a month ago to set up mother/daughter mani pedis for my daughter's birthday. I emphasized that I wanted us to get it done TOGETHER. I talked to these people on the phone 3 times that day because they had to work the schedule so that 2 people would be there at the same time. The receptionist assured me all was well. Good. We get there today, and one of the people didn't show up to work and isn't answering her phone. They're also not even set up for us to have these services done together like I very specifically asked for. Not only that, but I was scheduled for a manicure only. I needed to find a good salon that was taking Covid-19 seriously. Two others had disappointed me. Read a great review of this salon and gave them a call. I was told they would wear masks and be careful, so I booked an appointment. LAVERNE STATON was my stylist. She took her time cutting my hair and did it just like I wanted it. First time that's happened in a long time. Furthermore, she wore her mask and I wore mine. I will definitely be going back! read more

I had a really bad experience here. Asking for highlights and root touch up with a hairstylist bre. When making the appointment I had made it with Christian but the appointment got changed for the only one service I needed so I was told it was a mistake and she doesn't take new clients. So why did it schedule me then? They scheduled me with bre, I had also told her that I wanted a hair cut which so far that is fine. She highlighted my hair along with a suppose to do a root touch up well I still have grey all over my roots furthermore she ended up toning it because she said it looked orangish. I didn't see that. She styled my hair after rinsing couldn't really see it the color the lightening in the room I was at wasn't great. Upon getting home notice grayish purple all over. Text her asked her what could I do she told me oh it will wash out. I responded I'm surprised you don't want to fix this I didn't ask for grey hair. She said I would love to do. It but it will cost you for me to do that! Are you serious after paying 130 dollars for hair that wasn't even completed roots aren't even touched up. No way would I let that lady touch my hair again. She obviously needs to go back to cosmetology school. Very disappointed wouldn't recommend that salon at all! read more
