Pappas in Cockeysville came up in a couple of influencers' lists, so we made the 1 1/2 hour drive north to experience it for ourselves. We arrived at 11:30 on a Sunday morning and chose to sit on the restaurant side (versus the sports bar side). Our meal started with soft rolls right out of the oven and vinegar-y cucumbers. My wife had some them while I passed on them for I don't like cucumbers. Obviously, we later ordered the single crab cake entree with two sides ($33.99). I chose the fries and the up-charge for a Caesar salad while my wife picked the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. The crab cakes did not disappoint! Even though it was a hot day outside, they kept the restaurant very cold. After we ate, I didn't notice it as much because I was so full. A final note is the lunch crowd started coming in around 12:15pm.

Locales and visitors enjoying a Monday dinner - crab cakes or pasta seemed to be popular. The latter may be attributed to the $2 pasta discount on Mondays. The quintessential basket on the table of stale cracker packets and tiny plastic containers of butter probably sitting out 24/7. Meh- why "Oprah" would order her crab cakes from here when the crab is not from Maryland, right? Once I heard that news from the waiter ( I asked, it was not volunteered) I opted for the local soft shell crab special. ( despite it not being season, I should have known better. It was a puny crab with hardly any meat and it was not properly cleaned either. Sides of overcooked brocolli and asparagus. Baked potatoes looked liked yesterday's overcooked option. My colleagues enjoyed the crab cakes which were large portions- should be for $40+ each. Service was friendly, food took too long- it was a long wait for mediocre overpriced food.

Family of 5, we ordered 4 sandwiches, 1 entree, 4 sides to share. Ordered at about 6:40pm and we watched the delivery time change from 7pm to 7:14 to 7:26 to 7:37 and so on. Finally got our order a little before 8. Of course, our order was incomplete and because there's no phone number to Flavortown, there was no way to notify them. I couldn't contact the delivery service, Postmates, because I didn't place the order thru them; they were the service Flavortown used. Also, special requests were ignored (like no pickles on chicken sandwich). The fried pickles tasted like nothing. The Mac & cheese was tiny ($9!!) and the worst we (any of the 5 of us, including 3 teenagers) have ever tasted. I guess I should be glad the serving was small because yuck! I can't even describe it. It takes special cooking skills to make something taste bad and flavorless at the same time! It went in the trash. And I have teens! They eat anything! So we ended up spending $120 for 4 sandwiches, 2 fries, 1 fried pickles side, and the awful Mac & cheese. $120!!!! Contacted Flavortown on Twitter, and I will say the social media person responded quickly. Offered to give me a refund for the meal we didn't receive, and a discount for the special requests being ignored. Turns out, that amounted to $22. So, we still spent $98 on crappy food. All around outrageous. Never again from any Guy Fieri kitchen. He should stick to eating food, not making it.

Then you go in and get to work preparing the meals to be put in freezer bags to take home with you. The idea sounds good but to me it's basically like paying $25/meal to go somewhere to make your own Stouffer's frozen dinner. It doesn't look fresh, it doesn't look good and it doesn't allow you flexibility in choosing ingredients, style of sauces or cuts of meats. Plus almost all ingredients are frozen! Maybe to people who don't have much free time or cooking knowledge, and would rather step meals up a notch from frozen dinners, this would be great, but I'd rather go to a grocery store, choose my own ingredients and make a fresh dish for substantially less money. I did like how friendly all employees were and that they serve complimentary scones, coffee cake, and coffee/tea. They do their best but it's just not for me.

My family is 2 people -- both "empty-nesters" and "snow birds". We're semi-retired but still have busy days just younger couples with families. We do the 4-meal plan once a month and split them in half. The result is 8 meals for $100. Each meal easily serves the two of us with some leftover for lunch another day. That's $12.50 for dinner for a healthy, quick dinner for two. For comparison, Wegman's offers individual meals to go for $6 (12.00 for 2). Let;s Dish is much more economical than carry out. For travel, Let's Dish is perfect! We pack a cooler bag with 8-10 meals and go to Ocean City or Florida. We can cook yummy quick meals without purchasing spices, condiments and ingredients. The staff at the Timoniuim Let's Dish are very helpful. They always offer suggestions for prep and packaging. My husband and I can bang out our 8 meals in about an hour. Since we're doing the prep we can control the salt and spice content. Fresh hot scones, coffee, and tea are always available during day sessions. We enjoy them while reviewing the menus for the coming months. There is always an instore sign-up bonus so we're always getting a little goody for free. I particularly like the suggestions for sides and wine to "go with". This info is on a printed page that I can take with me (take extra copies for travel) and post on my freezer door. Let's dish does not take the place of cooking from scratch but it has a permanent place in our schedule. It's a cost-effective time-saver. And it's a lot of fun.
