This is now the second time I've brought my Bentley in for the exact same issue that was supposedly addressed just a few weeks prior, yet the problem persists unresolved. What makes this situation far worse is that my vehicle has been sitting in their shop for over nine months. Throughout this entire period, I've been given repeated assurances and promises about completion timelines that have not been honored. Communication has been inconsistent at best, and ultimately, the manager admitted they are unable to deliver a satisfactory repair. The condition in which my vehicle has been kept is completely unacceptable. My Bentley has been left outside with the windows down and, unbelievably, the keys left sitting on the driver's seat. Additionally, various parts from the dashboard, engine bay, and trunk have been removed and carelessly thrown into the back seat on leather upholstery showing a complete disregard for my property. This experience reflects not only poor workmanship but a troubling lack of respect and professionalism. They diagnosed the issue as a starter and we paid $800-ish for the repair. Three days later, the Traverse started throwing warning lights... the battery indicator, check engine light, and check battery charging system. In hopes that the issue was somehow connected to the new starter, we returned the car to Shamrock to diagnose. Unfortunately, they diagnosed the issue as the alternator and quoted 700-800. They suggested that I also get a new serpentine belt. With the belt, the total would be 1300. Because the vehicle is 14 years old, and we had just dropped 800 on the starter, we decided to minimize the cost of repair and we would just start looking for a more reliable replacement vehicle. We opted to save the 500-600 dollars and only get the alternator work completed. When the repairs were complete, they called to settle the bill. Expecting 700-800 dollars, I was shocked when they said the total was just shy of 1200. I asked if they had installed the serpentine belt, because this total was WAY out of line with the 700-800 originally quoted. I was told that I wasn't accounting for the THREE HOURS of labor. Maybe it's just me, but when shops quote repair estimates, they typically include the labor! I also checked online to see if I could get a good idea of what these repairs typically cost. Chevy Traverse alternators are typically replaced in the 700-800 range (total cost), with labor typically running 1-2 hours. I am not a gear head, but I have two friends that do all of their own repairs and maintenance work. Both of my friends are of the opinion that I was taken advantage of... and with zero apologies or reasonable explanations from the owner at Shamrock. I would definitely proceed with caution if you plan on utilizing this business... and get their quotes in writing BEFORE authorizing work.
