This was my first time shipping a car and it was my mother in law's SUV as she wasn't capable of driving it to the other side of the country. Sherpa was very easy to reach to adjust details (drop off location and contact had to change) and were professional and easy to get along with. They were willing to help however I needed, which is nice. Additionally, the price lock guarantee was nice, since my mother in law wasn't on the hook for additional funds. I don't know if this is common when shipping vehicles, but when using Sherpa, they contract a third party. I suspect this is where the price lock guarantee was a good thing, because I'm guessing they need to make the contract more lucrative to get people to pick up the vehicles. The company who ended up picking up the contract was -fast-. They got that SUV 2200 miles in 3 days. The difficult part was regarding pick up. The pick up window was 5 days, but because they put the shipping contract out there, they have to wait for someone to accept the contract. Due to my being in a small city, it took almost a week past the 5 day period to actually get picked up. I could see this being a challenge for people if they're on a time crunch and it was concerning at the time, but it all worked out. In the end, I probably should have done more research on how shipping vehicles goes, because that pick up delay may not be unique to them, but I was happy with Sherpa and I would absolutely use them again. read more

Extremely disappointed with Sherpa Auto Transport. Communication has been terrible throughout the entire process. Today is already the last day of the pickup window, and I still have no clear update on whether my car will actually be picked up. I emailed them multiple times, but the responses were vague, generic, and provided no useful information or concrete timeline. What made the experience even worse is that there was essentially no way to reach a real person by phone -- the calls were automatically cut off instead of connecting to customer service. Instead of proactive communication, I was left chasing updates myself and making backup plans because I could not rely on them. Delays can happen, but the lack of transparency and customer support made this an incredibly stressful and frustrating experience. The truck driver made us meet him on the Main Street of town (not sure why he didn't want to drive in our neighborhood,) but again, just a very minor inconvenience. In mid-January 2026, I purchased a brand new 2024 Fiat 500e from a dealership in Wisconsin and needed it shipped to me in Southern California. After an extensive deep dive into the world of auto transportation on the internet, I decided to go with Sherpa Auto Transport for my vehicle transportation needs. I initially communicated with Steve from Sherpa Auto Transport via email and then over the phone. Steve and the entire Sherpa staff were very professional throughout the entire process. Since Sherpa is a fully licensed broker, they connected me to a trucking company named Your Car Provider Inc (US DOT 3466676). That company provided me with an updated when the vehicle was picked up and then provided me with an estimated delivery date. Then, the day before the delivery, the driver from that company reach out to me when he about 2 hours away from my home. The whole drop off process was super smooth. The driver unloaded my car and parked it right on my driveway. He performed his inspection of the car by taking photos all around the exterior of the car. And then finally, I was provided 100% digital Bill of Laden (BoL). The whole process was unbelievably smooth even though it's the very first time I've ever purchased (and then shipped) a vehicle from outside California. I had a horrible experience with this... I had a horrible experience with this company. At the time of delivery, I wasn't present to receive and inspect the vehicle. The driver just mentioned not to worry. Once I got home, I noticed paint damage to the front hood. When I reached out, the driver refused assistance. I have since tried to contact Sherpa multiple times via both email and phone to resolve the issue, but they have completely ignored me and never replied back. Their customer service is non-existent once they have your money. Very bad customer service! I will be contacting the FMCSA to solve my issue. Avoid this company. UPDATE: Stu reached out to me via phone to discuss the issues I had. He was very understanding and told me that they will not be partnering with that transport company and offered me a partial refund. He also said that they were looking at instituting new standards for their contract drivers. Worst company ever. They showed up a week early on the pickup date to the dealer and no one was prepared for the pickup. The dealer charged me for having an employee stay late because of the time the pickup arrived. Then on dropoff, if it wasn't for my neighbor being outside and letting me know the car was here, the transport would most likely have dropped the car off and left. I understand why when the trailer looked like it was falling apart and they were using ATV ramps (with blocks underneath it since it was bending so much) to get the car off the trailer. After scheduling almost 1 month before the move, and agreeing on a price in writing, I tried to confirm for 3 weeks, without success. They contacted after the scheduled pick up, and told me I would have to pay substantially more, or I could find another service. I had to pay. I will now file complaints with the Better Business Bureau, the State Attorney, and seek legal remedy. He drove about 300 miles a day and took 8 days to cross the country after giving a 4-7 day estimate, then kept me waiting until 10:30pm. In fact I missed a flight and had to book for the next day. The driver drove right past me in Santa Clara to deliver to SF first, even though it kept me waiting an additional five hours. Upon receipt of my car in NY, the entire windshield had about 20 micro cracks from what looked like the windshield getting pelted with gravel on the highway. Communication has been terrible throughout the entire process, it wasn't by Sherpa but the company they used to transport my vehicle. I got good customer service from Sherpa Auto, but the company they used was not very good. They were late on delivering the car, which isn't a big deal if I was given any kind of notice. I am told the car is coming on Monday, so I call off work to make sure I am available. I texted and called the company delivering, didn't get a call back. Then they texted me at around 10:00pm to tell me it would be here the next day. So again I call off work, yet again they are not here at noon as they told me, so I call and text again. I finally get a call back that it will be here the next day. Eventually the car got here at around 9:00pm 2 days later then I was told. I am surprised as in how Sherpa is a BBB A+. We booked 2 vehicles to be transported over 2 months ago. There has been no communication at all at their end. They gave us a window of 5 days and we are on day 4 and still no one has yet gotten back to us We called their customer service many times and they are always busy so we had to send then an email. Their response is very generic "we haven't found an assigned driver yet" This has ruined our plans and the only reason we went with Sherpa was becaseu it's BBB certified. Failed to pick up my car during the given pick up window and told me that there were "no carriers in the area" to pick up my car in Florida and take it to California. They told me that they had no time frame of when my car could be picked up, so it would be days or even more weeks. At this point I was really stressed considering I had to leave to California via plane. It seems like because of the price lock they weren't able to find a carrier cause they low balled the price. Anyways , I went with a different company that found me a carrier within the same day I called them. The only good thing was that Sherpa waived the cancellation fee (as they should considering they couldn't even find me a carrier). Overall because they made me wait past my estimated pick up time, I ended up spending extra money from renting a car in California longer than expected. I wish Sherpa was just honest about the fact that they lowballed the locked in price because I would have rather paid more in the end cause I ended up using that money to rent a car in the mean time anyways. Absolutely horrible experience with Sherpa Auto Transport and Diesel Auto Transport. I was originally told the transport would take only 3-6 days. Instead, it took 11 days with constant delays, excuses, and zero professionalism. I asked multiple times for basic updates and even requested a simple picture of the vehicle's mileage/odometer, and they still failed to send it. The driver barely answered the phone, and customer service was completely useless the entire time. Nobody seemed organized or capable of handling a serious business professionally. Every time I contacted them, I received different information and empty promises. I would NEVER recommend these companies to anyone, no matter how cheap their prices are.
