Very misleading process regarding coverage, also many of the staff do not speak English which presents communication issues for those, such as myself, who only speak English. I attempted to resolve a coverage charge that I wanted to ensure was declined in person; however, "the manager" was not available per their team member Fransisco so it could not be done. I wish I could put negative stars! This company is irresponsible and unprofessional, do yourself a favor and don't deal with them. We had a confirmation for for a 15' truck and hand dolly. We arrive at 9am as stated in our agreement. By the time we got to the front of the line, we are told they have no more trucks. As of now we are being told we can get a pick up. Now we have an apartment that needs to be moved today and IF we get a pickup it will take several trips abs we risk rain. read more

4.5 Stars Dear U-haul, You know, you really make self-moving a breeze. I made a reservation about a week before the move. No problems. I was called 2 days prior to the date of the reservation to ensure that everything was still ok with the reservation. I said yes and actually asked to pick up the truck 30 minutes later. No problems. :) I love good customer service. I arrived Saturday morning around 10:15am (reservation was for 10am) and the place was PACKED. I mean, it looked like a Disney World ride line. So I had the bf stand in line while I went outside and called. I spoke to a rep and let them know that I was there and at the back of the line, and to please not give my truck away. LOL They opened up a line that was just for people with credit cards, so I was able to at least get up to third in line with that move. The man at this counter was working quickly and efficiently and it wasn't long before it was my turn. When I finally got to the front I noticed his name tag said Bruce, General Manager. Aha! That's why this was working out so well! His customer service was impeccable. He apologized for the long wait first and foremost. Then looked up our reservation and has us signed and out of there within 7 minutes max. He was very professional and knowledgeable. One of the employees had just arrived, and he immediately instructed him to help clear out the floor and then to assist with the trucks outside. He knew what needed to be done and delegated well. This U-haul location also offers a Night Drop. As long as you park the truck legally, you can leave it parked there outside of the U-haul center, and then there's a drop box for your Keys and Contract. We decided to shower and relax after we finished moving and unloading. So we dropped off the truck around 8pm. The drop off instructions were easy and simple to follow. By 10am the next day I had an email with our total bill for our charges, which was correct (you didn't try to pull any fast ones! ;-) ). Great service, easy process, very quick and efficient. Moving is never easy. I was lucky enough to have some of my best buds help me lift and move all of my furniture, but we still needed a truck. This U-Haul was the closest to my old house, that had a truck available. I walked in and had a couple people in front of me. When I got to the counter the girl was very nice. She seemed to be fighting with her co-worker but that dosen't bother me...they obviously have a stressful job where they promise things to people on a certain time and sometimes things don't go according to plan. At least for me it was all smooth sailing. I got my invoice, my drop off location (in Davie) and I went outside to grab the truck. The 2 guys that go and get the trucks were super over worked, and I would say need another 1 maybe 2 people helping them, They claim incoming trucks, inspect them, clean them and then grab out going trucks (finding them alone in this maze of trucks is tough), inspect them and send you on your way. Our guy was greats, hustling to get every truck in/out in a quick manner. The truck was fine. COLD AS ICE AC, good radio, and sits 3 in the front. We got a bed frame and matress, 3 couches, dining room table, small tables, dresser and other random items in with no problem. As my buddy put it....It's like a puzzle. I did opt for a furniture dolly which was never provided. I was lucky to have the Nicaraguan Wonderwoman, Nicaraguan Batgirl,The mildly Cuban mostly American Hulk, the Jewish Superman, Mexican Super Girl and Cuban She Hulk helping me move. We didn't even need a dolly with these fine specimens. Be careful when returning the truck. I put $30 over in gas, that was not refunded! read more

This place deserves a zero star, not only they give you a rental van stained on the inside but when you return the unit they charge you. There is a guy name Dan that works in the vehicle return area that he is rude and tells employees to just charge the customers when they question anything. The worst experience with cockroach and silverfish infestation that I have ever had. After just 2 months of keeping a few boxes and a desk in the 'air conditioned' self-storage unit, everything that I owned needed to be deep cleaned because bugs laid their eggs and left droppings on everything. This building advertises that it is chemically treated for pests, which obviously doesn't work. This review literally is a warning for anyone and everyone to never go here. And, you pay one place, but might be picking up your stuff in the back. I was a mom towing a 4 year old and an infant. If I can't park next to the other car that is already parked there, then tell me when I first get out of the car, and am looking at you, for approval, (because I'm really not sure that I can park here.) I rented a Uhaul to be picked up at 6:30pm, on the way there I was a little lost and called at 6:50pm to let Ashley, the lady who answered, know that I was going to be there at exactly 7pm (Time they close). She said "if you come before 7pm the guys will wait for you". Very rude. Very unwilling to satisfy the paying customer. As told I got there at 6:59.. Clock turns 7pm.. "There system is now closed" No supervisor is available.. No manager.. Ummmm so who is in charge?! Jesus was very rude and very careless to help me as well. Very disappointed with the customer service and Trailer Hitch installation team. Called to rent a motorcycle trailer and to have a hitch installed on my vehicle. Trailer rental process was easy and price was reasonable. But trying to get a hitch installed is a nightmare. First, the agent (who was quite friendly and helpful) searches for a hitch for my vehicle, but couldn't find one anywhere near South Florida. He suggested I find one on my own and they could install it. Seemed reasonable. I purchased one through AutoZone. Called U-Haul back to schedule an install. This agent made it seem like I was not worth her time because I purchased the hitch somewhere else. I explained that I tried to purchase through them, but they couldn't get it for me timely. Then after begrudgingly saying they could do it, she explained that they'd have to charge me for 2.5 hours to install rather than 1.5 - essentially a penalty for not buying the hitch there. Again I explained that I wanted to buy the hitch from them, but they didn't have it, and their guy told me to buy it elsewhere and come back. She said she'd talk to someone, but never called back. Then I called and spoke to a different agent. The install folks' schedule was tight, but she'd have the head of installs call me by the end of business to set up a time for the next day. No call. No time left. Cancelled the trailer rental. Lesson learned - go to somewhere else, even a dealer, for a hitch. read more

During a U-Haul rental visit I decided to inquire about getting a hitch installed for a bike rack. The staff was very thorough with the pricing information and I chose to place the order and schedule it. Upon arrival, Stan directed me to park my vehicle. He was thorough, professional, and very efficient with the install. I decided to purchase a bike rack while I was there and I built it while I was waiting. Stan was courteous enough to correct the errors I made and helped me install the bike rack accordingly. Definitely would recommend U-Haul and their services in the future. read more

The ease of reserving online was pretty amazing. I was able to get a hold of a rental at 6p.m. the night before for a 7 a.m. pickup on Memorial weekend. I woke up at 6:50 dreading the move, I'm sure like everyone else that rolls into a U-Haul. The woman I first dealt with was very attentive and had a personality that was a pleasure to deal with at 7 a.m. Unfortunately, the personality of the gentleman who's face matched that of the owners on my brochure was quite the opposite. While we were being helped he was barking at the only other people in the store "What do you need?" I realize we are in Miami but just a hint of customer service will go a long way. While finishing up my rental the woman helping me asked if I would like insurance for the truck. This being the third time I was asked by U-haul (twice online the night before) I already knew my answer. No thank you. Then the owner barked at me, "I meant to tell you, you have to have insurance to rent my truck." I told him my car insurance policy covered it and when he asked for proof I gave up. I drive a 2-seater so for the move it was downtown and I wasn't about to drive 45 minutes to prove that my insurance covered other rentals so I reluctantly accepted the 15 dollar upcharge. It's not that I don't mind following someone's policy, it is after all his truck but I don't appreciate the way I was treated and by an "Owner" show a little respect, without your customers you have nothing, and given that you're a U-Hual I have options on who I use. Make me aware that I need to provide my insurance or use yours, it's that simple. My recommendation, use one of the other 5 U-hauls within the 2 mile radius and enjoy a little customer service and respect. For the overall experience I would give U-Haul in general 4.5 stars but for this specific U-Haul I drop it to two for the rudeness and lack of common decency from an owner at 7 in the morning read more

Booking was easy online. The movers I hired thru the website were fantastic. I called 3 hours after getting the truck and told the woman on the phone that the tire light and the service tire system light came on. I asked if I could bring the truck back and exchange it for another one. She said yes. When I got back to the uhaul center I was told to go back outside and have them check the tire pressures and he could add air. Well, I could have done the same thing but I didn't want to get stuck with all my stuff in the 10' van and a flat tire. I did what she said, and the man outside told me "don't worry, when we put the tires on we don't align the sensors right sometimes so just ignore it." Ahhhhh no! That's not an appropriate response. So I may or may not have low tire pressure or a flat tire!?!? I turned the truck in. A waste of time and money. I went back inside to the woman at the desk. Her response to me was "well, he's been working here a long time. If he says it's ok, then it's ok" As a paying customer, that's NOT ok. That's terrible customer service. I don't want a truck that may have a tire problem while I'm moving. There were plenty of other trucks available. read more

I came here to pick up a truck in the early afternoon after putting in an online reservation the night before. When I went the internet was down and there was four employees inside. I was helped by a young looking girl who proceeded to wait for the dramatic and busy manager of the store to do every move. First I was incorrectly searched up and had to hear that I had made a reservation for the next day - not that day. After finding my reservation, two other customers who arrived before me where helped before I was properly attended. The young girl who tried to be useful, went to the truck in the meantime to check the mileage, that would later turn out to be 10 miles higher than the actual value. They pulled out my truck by the front where a man named K.A. helped me check the mileage (which he found to be incorrect), inspect the vehicle, and inform me of the policies while driving the truck. K.A. was sweating outside in the Miami heat, provided excellent customer service, and made me feel like he was looking out for me. HE IS THE SOLE EMPLOYEE WORTH KEEPING OR INTERACTING WITH AT THIS STORE. After I went back inside to correct the mileage on my contract, the manager simply jotted the numbers incorrectly again which made me paranoid. I made her repeat it back to me and she promised she would correct the contract when the internet was back up. I truly believe, the staff of this store, except K.A., have to be the worst people in business, customer service, and my trip. If I had four tumors, each would be named after idiot 1, imbecile 2, numskull 3, and useless 4 that staffed the U-Haul desk at this location. I used the truck, stayed under the allowed mileage (even with the error), cautiously filled up the gas tank over the level I received it, and dropped it off at the appropriate location early. A few days later, I get overcharged about $16!!! I do not find out about until a week later when I see my credit card statement. I look up my order on the website with my contract number and some information does not match my receipt. They charged me for a bigger truck, gave me more allowed mileage that I did not use, was a day off of when I picked it up and dropped it off, and the mileage was incorrect. I instantly called their customer service line and the representative took care of this MASSIVE ERROR. The overcharges are being returned to my account after I had to explain their mistake. Tip: Keep your receipt, take pictures of the truck when you drop it off especially if its during non-business hours, and periodically look at your bill for u-haul overcharges. I showed up here Sunday at 9 am with no reservation and after visiting 2 other closed locations and on no sleep was completely frazzled. After waiting in a semi-long line, I was greeted by a friendly face and handed the keys to my 17' truck with an estimate of the day's expenses. It was pretty easy to handle, although I've never driven a truck before. And between my sister and I, we had it packed up with every belonging I owned in no time at all. When I returned the truck, it was so good on gas I did not need to fill it at all and was charged exactly the estimate (about $70) for the day. Will def use in future moving. read more

Update--- Miguel finally called and apparently this facility has been undergoing management changes. He was apologetic and helpful and as is usual, I had regret over my major dissing. I stand by my position that there should ALWAYS be a supervisor on hand in any retail operation, I empathize. I will upgrade to 4 stars because of the resolution. The piece of furniture in question was really not an extravagant piece-/ it's a hand forged iron bar stool with an upholstered seat which was ruined. Needed a 15 foot truck with 30 minutes notice. Ordered it on line, met a very nice customer service lady at the counter and was on my way with a nearly new truck in just a few minutes. Price was great and entire experience was as good as possible. This U-Haul location is top notch. Also their IT system seems to be unusually well integrated, this saves time at every step. When I returned the truck, it only took five minutes from drop off to drive away. read more
