I'm a retired lady - moving to live with my son, over 2000 miles away - never had "moved" like that, and had to move my sewing studio and valuable fabrics. Trying to find best price - getting involved with "brokers" - reading so many scary stories/reviews. PODS didn't go to my destination! Kept looking ... and found U-Pack .... what a relief!!! EVERY person I spoke with or met from U-Pack was patient and knowledgeable with ZERO sales pressure. The price is crazy low, and your goods are always safe behind your locked bulkhead .... but you need to understand some things! * They are freight shippers - NO air shocks - things WILL shift - I was surprised in spite of my best efforts * Make MAJOR padding between fine furniture corners - I had failures/cut thru with only a single "blanket". I had read all the instructions and would've done better, but I wasn't transporting FINE furniture. None of my dishes or glasses broke! * There are "tie-down" slots at every foot-space ... figure out how to use them to secure your load! * You will pay by the linear-foot space of the trailer ... make sure to fill every void. You reserve a space, but can change it at "pick-up" for only $71/linear-foot. Mine came out exact with some un-used space above. * The ramp is sturdy and wide, but a little steep. My hired help had no problem to get the heavy things up + extra time with smaller stuff = 5 hours. You might find it tiresome. * You have 4 business days to load/unload - week-ends don't count! Excellent service that exceeded our expectations! Moved from FL to OH. Not only were they less than half the price of competitors but the pricing and quote were clear to understand and included all line items together (initial delivery, pick-up, shipping, insurance, taxes, final delivery, and pick-up). Competitor didn't include all these items which was a "bait and switch" technique as I saw it. U-Pack clearly described all charges and what to expect in the process which immediately rendered the competitors as not credible. U-Pack also offered flexibility by setting up two containers and quoted their service based on our using just one or both containers. This was a great help because we could then decide, as needed, to try to carefully pack just one container, or use both. Not knowing just how much space we would need, we found this to be a very flexible service. Delivery was perfect, one time, and careful. We experienced no damage to anything in our containers and deliveries and pick-ups were easy to arrange. I spoke to Ty on the phone and left the experience thinking, "Wow, what a nice guy! From beginning to end the customer service we received was great. I want to thank everyone from the customer service rep to the drivers. The communication was good and no headaches or problems with our move. We highly recommend and we will save the information to use your service again for a smaller move of some purchases we will make and move here to our new home. The driver in PR had some challenges getting the truck in a tight spot, he parked it and left it and returned the sameday because it was urgent to unblock the traffic flow on our street. He did not complain and kept his word on returning as soon as possible and he accomplished it perfectly! This company is the best moving company ever. They moved two cubes to my drive in Florida on a Wednesday picked them up the following Thursday shipped and stored them in Portland until the roads were open in Waldoboro and literally moved them one at a time on a forklift the last half mile on a curvy dirt road.Everyone was overly helpful and went above and beyond the expected. Of course they don't pack the load so you must pack everything to make the trip. If you are not an experienced packer, disaster could occur if the load can shift in the pod or in the boxes. We sold our Florida home turnkey, but still had a lot of personal property to move. I started looking for a company that I didn't have to give them my life history to get a price. UPack came up and gave me a quote that I thought was very reasonable. I hired them. Scheduling for trailer drop off was seamless. I was even allowed a few days delay in drop off without any extra charge. The driver for drop off did an excellent job in positioning the trailer for unloading. Trailer was picked up in a timely manner. The total price was very good compared to other competitors prices. We moved a carton from FL to VT. The carton was delivered and picked up on time in FL, and was delivered on time in VT. My husband and I unloaded the carton, called the company to pick up, and went to run some errands. When we returned, the carton was gone! Great service. Everything arrived intact. The best service ever! They are a division of ABF and their trucks moved me all the way from Florida to Ohio. I packed the pods myself and not one thing inside was broken or damaged. used 2 trailers. both were delivered and picked up on time. quoted for two full trailers and was billed less as the second trailer was only 3/4 full. if you are going to pack and load yourself this is the way to go. just be sure you have room at both locations for the trailer. read more
