But then he had acute Alzheimer's in late life which might explain this error in judgement. To facilitate my paying of his expenses, we set up a joint account over ten years ago and after his death, I went to THIS local branch with a death certificate to have his name removed, a significant deposit, an address change and a request for new checks in my name only. Big mistake. The deposit went thru, the address, name change and checks did not. Instead of fixing it, the teller wanted to argue about how I did it wrong. Odd, since I too was a listed account holder. Three employees, and me. You would think they would want me to remain a customer... especially since I was the only one in the bank. You would think wrong. No reason or explanation for the failures, just sign another form.... maybe it will go thru this time. But I doubt it. Bank of the West, let me introduce you to Kerry Killinger, former CEO of Washington Mutual. You have much in common. Luckily for me, there are probably 30 other banks and credit unions nearby that WANT my business.

I'm surprised they didn't charge you a fee to open the door and walk inside. When I finally got fed up with all of that I decided to switch to a credit union. The first credit union that I joined which I shall not name here started out as a really good institution. Over the years however that particular credit union deteriorated into something that was more like a bank leaving me frustrated once again looking for solutions. I finally stumbled upon 1st community credit union. Immediately I began to notice a difference in the way I was treated with dignity, civility and respect. Not only did 1st community credit union care about saving me money but they were actually interested in helping me to invest and make more money. This was a big change for me. I then convinced my parents to switch over and then my siblings and finally my friends. Since that time all those years ago there's been an occasional bobble here and there but it was always resolved quickly and efficiently. Nobody's perfect. That includes organizations. But as organizations go, I would have to definitely say that 1st community credit union strives harder than any institution I have seen in the past to act responsibly with kindness and respect to the people they serve. That puts them ahead of all the rest. And, you know who I am referring to. I don't need to list all of them. If you're looking for an institution to park your funds in I don't think that you could do much better than 1st Community Credit Union. One thing I can also say for certain about them is that their rates of return on CDs are extremely competitive. If however you are not an investor and you just want a simple, checking account or savings account you really should consider them.

The banker who helped me was knowledgable, quick, and friendly. I like OnPoint's checking and savings options. Some accounts have no minimum balance requirements. Interest bearing accounts only require a small minimum balance to avoid monthly service fees. (See their website for more details.) They're doing a promotion right now where you can get a bonus of $100 if you open an account through 7/3/22 and have a direct deposit of $500 or more. If you're opening a business account, you just need to manually deposit $500 or more.

Imagine my surprise comsidering we have had multiple super low interest car loans through Chase. We should have just applied at the dealership. I'm sure this doesn't have anything to do with the fact that I'm a woman (major eye-roll). Beware- now there is a negative on my otherwise excellent credit report and I'll have to wait three months and just end up back through the dealership.
