I went here today to cash a check. Because it had my previous name on it, I brought my Name Change Decree document that was from the court house in San Bernardino County. The woman who helped me said she couldn't cash it. I also brought both IDs with my previous and current names. I made sure I called the bank before going to confirm they'd be able to cash it. She said I would have to get it reissued when I went in, she even confirmed this information with her manager. But that's not what US Bank customer service told me. She also mentioned that if I had opened the account with my previous name she'd be able to help me. Waste of time & was provided different information. Came in January to open an IRA as funds were to be transferred from another bank. Apparently they can't open an IRA with zero dollars. Chase can. American Express could. So we went through the paperwork of requesting the transfer, but because the account wasn't set up, they requested a check. And of course, the check got lost. The receipt of the reissuance took just over a month. Did i receive a call that the check arrived? No. They sent an email. I called the bank,which surprisingly went through because most calls just go through and was road I'd get a return call in 30 minutes. Nope. I was at the bank 40 minutes later, a half hour before closing and was told there wasn't enough time to set up the account and deposit the check. I would not take no for an answer, so the manager told the banker to open the account. Then of course, the system failed. They couldn't open the account. They asked me to come back the next day at 10:30. At 9:56 the next morning, I received a call that the system was working so the 10:30 appointment still stood. I waited in the lobby for 5 minutes before the manager came up to me saying "We need 10 more minutes." She left, then came back saying, "So how is your dayvso far?" Really? Yes, the staff is always pleasant, but the service is as another reviewer stated "sub-par." read more

The service at this branch is subpar. Went in today to open another account. They are limiting access to the building to 10 people including employees. After a 20 minutes outside, we were able to enter and wait another 10 minutes inside- gotta love covid and places that put stricter requirements in place than the state uses. So when we finally see a banker after 30 minutes, we are told they will only open new accounts by appointment and to come back in 1 hour later. There were no signs or notices up at the bank that says get an appointment for new accounts. Just waisted 30 minutes to be sent away for what should be normal business for them. read more

When I opened my account, I set-up all possible alerts if my balance drops below a certain amount or something unexpected hits that will overdraw my account - that way I can quickly deposit money to cover any overage before midnight when funds get transferred around. Then one day some unexpected little thing overdrew my account, the alerts didn't alert me, checks came in and kept bouncing because the overdraft fees kept accumulating. Usually, when this happens, a bank will charge only one or two overdraft fees, not the whole lot, because it was the accumulated overdraft fees that caused the others to bounce. US Bank said they were charging me the overdraft fees for every check, which I couldn't pay at the time, closed my account, and reported me to ChexSystems for abuse. read more

I wanted to bring up a complaint against the Branch Manager, i believe, at the US Bank branch in 29 Palms. This is not the first time that I've been treated like a third class citizen at this branch by this individual. His name is Clinkscales, first name may be Robert. He is very rude. The reason for my visit today was to open an account for my teenage son. My son was extremely excited because he has been working hard and earning his own money and wanted a secure place to keep his wages. My children and I went in around 1115 and stood in the line for new accounts. Clinkscales was at the Safe Deposit desk helping a woman that was standing in front of us and there was a gentleman that was sitting down at his window on the other side. There wasn't a clerk near new accounts so we directed our attention towards him. After he helped the woman and she was leaving before he started helping the gentlemen i attempted to ask if we were in the right line, because the teller line was getting impacted really quickly. Clinkscales raised his hand at me gesturing that he didn't have time for my menial issue and directed his attention to the gentlemen. I knew the gesture was rude because my son looked at me appalled and he actually said it was rude. I told him, it's ok. We want this account so we'll forgive his ignorance. Clinkscales continued with the customer and he signed his paperwork and it sounded like they were done, but clinkscales offered to show the customer what sounded like a description of the app. My son moved closer to them, still within 6 feet, to remind him that we were still waiting. The customer looked at us like sorry and shrugged his shoulders like he didn't ask the question that clinkscales was answering. Clinkscales was blatantly ignoring us. I told my son that we'll just open his account online with another bank. Then we started to walk out; then and only then did Clinkscales acknowledge us. We continued to walk out. I will not give that branch any more business. I will spread the word. The customer service at this branch is terrible. I do not feel that a neighborhood bank should treat the customers the way it has. I would rather be treated like a number at a larger financial institution than like trash at a smaller one. Because of his blatant disrespect (not sure if it was racially motivated) but i am starting the process of changing over my Direct Deposit to my other account at another financial institution and i will be closing my account. It is sad because the US Bank branch in the next town over has a different atmosphere, they are more welcoming. I've also visited the branch in Ontario, California and they helped me with an issue that 29 Palms wouldn't (my first issue with this branch, racist older white woman that worked at that location). She refused to help me. Also, I have noticed that there is a high turnover rate with the tellers at this branch and it seems like clinkscales is a common factor. He needs to retire. I've been with US Bank since last fall when I opened an account at the Huntington Beach branch on Edinger Ave. Now that I've moved to Joshua Tree I come here to get cash at the ATM, deposit checks, and take care of other business. Today I had an appointment to get a Medallion Stamp for some stock transfers. I made the appointment online and showed up five minutes early. I waited in the line like everyone, but no one one looked for the 2 o'clock appointment, me. While inline I flagged down one of the employees to let them know I had an appointment at 2PM. I was told to sit in a waiting area. Finally the woman who would take care of my needs showed up and said they knew nothing about my appointment, yet I had an email reminder on my phone that I showed this lady. She told me that that system didn't work and I should have called. What the hell? I make an online appointment and NO ONE knows at this branch where I made the appointment? Then the woman took me to her desk and didn't like the paperwork I presented because my deceased mother's name on her death certificate was not the same as on the stockholder's accounts so she could not give me the Medallion Stamp on the stock transfer forms. So my mother was married to my father when she opened those shareholder accounts and she divorced my dad and remarried, thus with a different last name on her death certificate. I even presented the letters from the OC Probate court appointing me as executor. First the don't know about an appointment I set up on their website for this branch, then I'm given a bunch of absurd reasons why she can't put the Medallion Stamp on the forms, yet I had been depositing her checks for years in her Wells Fargo checking account under either last name and the dividend checks were always accepted without question. She also said that the letter appointing me as executor had a letter crossed out, which was wrong. Well she read the court appointment letter wrong, the letter was NOT crossed out, but written over by the letter "R" which was the first letter in my sister's name since she is also an executrix for my mom's estate. This lady was either ignorant, or clueless regarding my being able to get a Medallion Stamp waiver because the value of the stocks to be transferred was less than $10K! I learned this from the Computershare people when I called them this evening because they are the agent for AT&T investors. If she was so well trained and had attended classes for Medallion Stamps why didn't she know this? I originally had over $400K in this bank, but have slowly been transferring my funds to another bank which pays higher interest. The interest this bank pays on customers accounts is a joke, savings, checking or otherwise. I have some valuables in the Huntington Beach branch in a safe deposit box, but I'm done with US Bank and will close my checking account soon and open an account at California Bank & Trust in Palm Desert! I will also remove my items from the safe deposit box in HB the next time I'm down there and move them to CB&T's safe deposit. California Bank & Trust was recommended by my attorney for opening up an account for my mom's irrevocable trust and I'm going to open up an account there for my deceased mother's estate. I will also open up a checking account there as well. I'm done with US Bank! The Huntington Beach branch had much more customer service friendly people. Now California Bank & Trust will get my business even if I have to drive down to Palm Desert to do my brick & mortar banking. read more

Today, I closed my account at U.S Bank 01/30/18 It wasn't my first choice to do, but after the crap they did to me I decided to go somewhere else. Since the great recession of 2008, Ive decided not to put money into the bank. But I keep a checking account with them! Back in early August i went to got a Cashier Check for my down payment on the house I had bought. Because the amount was greater then normal. Last Week US Bank in Yucaipa, Ca called as started 20 questions where did the money come from! I explain this money came from me saving up for 10 years. AS the questions continued they just didn't believe me or something and I was busy with work and told her I had to go. Before I hung up on her I asked why now six months later, why does it matter now. While yesterday I couldn't make a deposit into my account. I went inside the 29 Palms branch and was advised my account is being closed as decision made by US Bank Corporate office.. I actually just closed my BOA business account and moved everything to US Bank. The thing that really blew my mind was they got me a 3.99% 20-year fixed rate mortgage on my house. I had tried to get a mortgage multiple times and was repeatedly denied or simply stonewalled due to the mortgagers request for a ridiculous barrage of documents. What a pain in the ass!!!! OMG this bank USBank in Yucca Valley CA 92284! This Bank is literally killing me. I have scammers that keep following me. I have absolutely NO idea who none whatsoever. These people have been following me for a while I have no way to get rid of them they change the phone numbers they change emails and USBank has decided to close my account after a scammer tried something and the bank stopped the person & they did not lose a penny. They disabled my account on June 15 telling me I will get a check and a letter in the mail with my funds in 10 to 14 days I said no I need my money now. Yes I started yelling in the bank because they would not tell me anything so I called the fraud department. The fraud department was as useless as the bank. Someone else in the bank was very upset too and he started yelling so both of us were yelling and you know what they did? They call the police on us. The police came & went into the bank spoke to them spoke to me and the gentleman and they told me that the bank said I was trespassing and if I came back I would be arrested and then I told the officer what happened and he was amazed so he told me I cannot go back to my branch that I do business with. So I called the bank I called the fraud department about 10 times at least and I still get nothing no answers I have no idea why that disabled my account I have no money no Car Insurance no Wi-Fi no use of my computer I can't pay anything plus they take my money they don't pay my bills but they take my money when will I get my money? I have to borrow and borrow to eat I am so upset with this Bank.It is now a MONTH & still No Check No Money. I almost had a breakdown yesterday but luckily a friend of my manage to calm me down. How am I supposed to live without my money? They took my Social Security check that I tried to change into a new account but it still went into that account so I'm sitting here with nothing absolutely nothing. I cannot even pay my rent.I even Lost my life insurance because I could not make the payments so where is that money going the money I lost. I banked at this location from early 2012 to late 2016 and was not very impressed by the management. Simple things, like their not understanding self deprecating humour, and sending out illogical notices of security threats to my savings accounts which proved baseless, and the high turn over of tellers indicated to me that the management was tightfisted and probably not very capable. My savings accounts earned a small fraction of one percent interest per annum while I strongly suspect US Bank reinvested my money and other customers' for itself in something like series E government savings bonds which double in about twenty years. Around September of 2016 the tellers suggested I consider investing with US Bank's in house investment outfit. Unfortunately, I found US Bancorp Investment Inc, and their registered financial adviser ensconced at the local Yucca Valley branch of US Bank, not nearly what I expected. Despite having eleven years experience as a broker, she greatly exaggerated the probable return on a $100k annuity investment she signed me up for, claimed that Washington state insured this annuity against default 100% where in truth it was California at only up to 80%, and, lastly, interfered with full refund during my thirty day full money back guarantee period ( "first look" period" ).Think you would gain redress by complaining higher up in the parent US Bank corporation?Think again. For example, while aware of the first two of the above mentioned misrepresentations, I nevertheless rationalized that at least USbancorp Investments Inc was arranging for my invested money to earn more than 1% per annum unlike a US Bank savings account, and so I signed the annuity contract and even sent a courtesy note of appreciation to my advisor/broker. To my astonishment, she promptly complained to corporate security that I'd not used corporate email! More astonishingly, John Palmer, a vice president and head of USbancorp Investment Inc security called me up to berate me for "looking up the email address of a young girl"! Not only that, Palmer also boasted that he could call up the local sheriff and easily have me arrested! I called Palmer a jackass and hung up. Perhaps I should have also told him I would be filing a complaint with the sheriff for elder abuse. I subsequently was kicked out of US Bank and had to liquidate a $30,000 municipal fund investment the same broker had arranged because it was a US Bank "proprietary" investment. I lost over $1600 because of that in nonrefundable transfer fees. Not surprisingly, the "compliance" departments of the umbrella US Bank corporation have proven consistently self serving and worthless in redressing clear misconduct of US Bank and their investment outfit. Lawyers agree that the bank and investment people are culpable in this matter but because of the monetary scale of my losses suggest only filing a complaint with FINRA. My aggravation so far leaves me with an inclination not to bother with FINRA. I think instead I will continue to disseminate this account with YELP, word of mouth, etc., until it seems probable at least a few people have been warned off similar predation by US Bank . That one star is actually a MINUS zero star. I've been a 20+ year customer of US Bank in Yucca Valley. Before them, it was PFF so basically I've banked there since 1983. The manager and associate manager are either completely clueless or power control freaks. What bank will not accept a deposit - of a guaranteed redemption check which is as good as cash for a college tuition payment? What bank will not do a Medallion Guarantee Signature for a LONG TIME customer? They both had to call corporate office, send faxes of paperwork I had, said a statement was not a statement (even though it CLEARLY said statement on it...) and then, after an hour of a befuddled debacle - they refused to do the Medallion Guarantee and said they would deposit the check "as a favor but to never to it again...." HUH? Never DEPOSIT money in their bank again? They were afraid the check wouldn't clear. Uh, doesn't a bank usually put a hold on checks until they DO??? I called 2 credit unions and another local bank to verify the "rules" supposedly keeping US Bank from honoring my requests. ALL THREE institutions said they have never heard of such treatment or "rules" - especially to a customer with outstanding credit who has been a customer for over ten years. Interestingly, the check was cleared in less than 24 hours. Went over to Chase Bank - across the street. 45 minutes later, I have a fully functioning-all-bells-and-whistles account AND new credit card AND they would do the Medallion Signature AND my son's money from the redemption check is now transferred over so he can pay for his medic school tuition. 45. Minutes. With a smile. US Bank lost a LONG TIME, LOYAL customer this week. read more

Unprofessional, insulting tellers and managers. Having banked with them for about 18 months, a Jr. manager/teller questioned me regarding a check/deposit I was making. She said it "looked like check fraud" and "fit the profile, etc. The check was for a very small amount considering the balance in my accounts. At the time, I had over $30K on deposit with this bank. Furthermore, I deposit the "exact, same check" every 2 weeks. She could look at the computer screen/account history and determine very quickly whom I was, and where my money comes from. After a few moments of very unprofessional questions and insults, I told the woman to close my accounts & cut me a check for the balance in my accounts. This caused additional problems for me, because I subsequently closed my safety deposit box, and I had to secure a box at a different bank. I filed a complaint with US Bank, and they responded, stating that they would review the matter, and use it for "training". Please don't misunderstand, a bank does not need to kiss my behind to get my business, but insulting me, and acting like you're a cop with power over me....well...NO THANK YOU.
