Waited 30 minutes in a gown before Dr. McClung entered the room. She spent about 5 minutes examining my body head to toe and removed 3 moles. It was the most rushed and impersonal medical visit I've experienced. Despite the actual visit lasting 5 minutes, I was billed for a 45+ minute visit and charged over $700. That discrepancy -- on top of how rushed the appointment felt -- really makes me regret being proactive about my skin health. I won't be returning and can't recommend this doctor to others. read more

False advertisement information! I called the Kyle office because I saw Dermatology Partners offered Visia skin analysis and call to set up an appointment. They told me the Brodie location has the machine and transferred me to Lindsay. She told me she could schedule my appointment. When I arrived, an hour drive, she looked at my skin and told me afterwards they don't have the machine and that it's is not really effective, that it only tells you sun damaged. It's infuriating to been told they have a service, make me drive an hour, just to tell me pretty much that they lied! So unprofessional! read more

Dr. McClung has been treating me for months and is amazing! So is her outstanding staff! Her Medical assistant Leah was simply spectacular deadening my skin for my surgery. I was nervous and she provided kindness, took her time till I was comfortable, educating me about my procedure, arranged several pillows all in an effort to help me relax. I visited this place for the first time yesterday, I saw Eryn Mcintyre PA. Let me just say she is so incredible! Very knowledgeable and helped me with issues that have caused me physical pain and insecurity for years, gone in one appointment. I can't say that would be the case for everyone of course but she is the one to go to. Why did I even go here in the first place?? This is a business, not healthcare. Good luck getting any assistance thru Abbvie or your script filled for SKYRIZI. Had to "renew" my script in May for SKYRIZI, but info was never sent to Abbvie until August after calling them to send it over numerous times. Phone correspondence was terribly rude from "medical assistants" especially from "emily"(she sounds like she really hates her job). Been overdue on my injection by 3 months. Either its incompetency or carelessness, but probably BOTH. Take your derm care somewhere else, this place is a joke read more

Loved this place when it was Evans, but my experience today has me looking for another provider. I was taken to an exam room at 1:30 and asked to strip down to the paper shorts (as usual). I then waited one full hour in a cold exam room with zero communication. And I'm not exaggerating. I noted that I was in the room at 1:30 (my appointment time). I was actually putting on my socks to dress and leave at 2:30 when the doctor came in. No "I'm sorry", no excuse for being behind schedule. Just jumped into a very quick examination. Doctor had "completed" a full exam of my entire body and left the room by 2:34. My wife also had a terrible experience with Dr. McClung about two years ago, so we're on to another dermatologist. read more

Dont take your kids here. Just dont. My 7 yo kid had a mole on his foot. Doc wanted to do a shave, i knew this was a possibility. Cool. Lets do it. While I held him down screaming, my 5 year old nearly passed out. White as a ghost. Got the biopsy, bye! Doc and nurse out. Ok, so don't offer juice or water or anything to help my kids. I get them both sort of able to walk to car 15 min later. Fast forward ...get results almost 2 weeks later. Nurse calls, "its severe, one step below a melanoma and you need more taken off asap." Went for second opinion with reputable ped derm. They retrieve slides from north texas and multiple doctors review. Another painful week and a half of waiting...result..."this is minor, not one step below a melanoma at all." What the acual Fu#@. read more

I needed to book my annual skin cancer check up. I am about preventative medicine and my medical insurance this year I have already met my deductible and than some. Evans Dermatology is close to my house, easy to book appointments , within my insurance network, and of course had great yelp reviews. My overall visit was great and hassle free. The doctor checked me out very throughly and even mentioned a few things that I could get addressed. One of them was an area where i had seborrheic keratosis. In layman terms, it is a harmless skin growth but can get irritated like mine. I asked to get it removed and she did it after the check up. No booking another appointment for that easy procedure which was awesome and very convenient. The doctor explained all other things she was looking at; nevus (birthmark) or lentigo (dark spots on the skin). I am already knowledgable about these things, due to being an esthetician but it was nice that the doctor reflected this information to her patients. read more

I really appreciated that this dermatology practice felt more like a doctors office vs a plastic surgery office trying to tell me I'm not pretty enough. They had limit posters of Botox ads, facelift, lip injections, and all the other vanity ads you see at other dermatologist offices. Front office staff were very polite. I saw Lindsey Detweiler, she was very nice, very knowledgeable, answered honestly about my questions. I had no issues at this practice. read more

A family member experienced a full-body rash that didn't retreat and didn't respond to oral steroids or OTC medication. I took them to US Dermatology and during our initial visit, they were diagnosed with Guttate Psoriasis. We were given an in-depth PowerPoint presentation about the benefits of phototherapy and a handful of topical prescriptions, a list of OTC medications, and an 8-step daily care routine, but no written instructions or documentation. Our city was in a significant COVID outbreak so spending as little time in public and minimizing any possible exposure was top of mind for me and I didn't think to ask for written instructions - but should I have had to ask with a complex treatment? I was told that the office would work with my insurance company to get phototherapy treatments pre-approved and get back to me the next day. Reader, this was the first in many broken promises, miscommunication, and bad vibes experiences during treatment from January 2021 - March 2021. - Prescriptions were sent to the wrong pharmacy - Staff did not communicate with the insurance company (I spent over 8 hours on the phone coordinating between the doctor's office and the insurance company) - Two attempts to procure prior-authorization forms from the office were made by me (at the request of the insurance company because the office was non-responsive) - I was only given written treatment instructions for prescriptions and OTC topical and treatments, during week 4 of phototherapy treatment Staff asked me if I wanted to pay cash for every treatment after processing my insurance information. - Staff continually questioned and pressured me about payments *before* the insurance company had processed claims going as far as to passively-aggressively give me statements. I had to forcefully tell the staff that I would not be paying for treatments until the insurance company had processed claims. - EoB's provided by the office didn't match the EoB's provided by the insurance company (amounts owed out of pocket to the office were more than EoB's from the insurance) - The length of phototherapy treatment and the number of sessions was not disclosed until week 6 of treatment. - Coordination of appointments was difficult (staff didn't listen to voicemails from the previous 24 hours before calling me) - The final straw for me - When questioning staff about the length of treatment and next steps I was promised a call back from the Doctor the next day - which didn't happen. When I called to follow up and expressed my disappointment that they, once again, broke a promise to me, the medical assistant hung up on me. This prompted a call with the practice manager who promised to investigate and help me transfer records to a new provider. I never received a follow-up call and moved to a new provider. read more

Dr. Amy McClung is awesome. She has great bedside manner, personable and her assistant was really nice too. I had a mole removed which wasn't planned but the procedure was super fast. There also was no wait at all when I checked in. They called me as soon as I sat down, and then it took no longer than maybe 5 mins after speaking with the nurse until Dr. McClung came in to see me. Totally recommend this place. Really clean and modern facility too! read more

Having had good visits to another location for US Dermatology Partners, I assumed this would be the same. Boy was I wrong. First of all, you get about 5-10 minutes of actual doctor time. The entire visit felt like a drive through. Added to this, my wife had a wart and they used Cantharidin. Dr. McClung put it on very liberally and said it wouldn't hurt. There were no handouts. Cantharidin is from a blister beetle and creates a very painful blistering where applied on many people. Either Dr. McClung did not know or her drive by style didn't allow her the time to explain. The nurse caused more issues by bandaging the spot causing the Cantharidin to spread over a much larger area. We will not be back due to their very poor performance. read more

Dr. McClung is the WORST!!! I trusted her when she prescribed a strong steroid FOR MY FACE, which ended up worsening my condition and caused perioral dermatits from the steroid she prescribed. I've been suffering from perioral dermatitis ever since. The visit was very impersonal and rushed. She was quick to prescribe me a steroid cream, without even analyzing/asking about possible triggers (face cream, scented products, etc). If you have eczema, DON'T see Dr. McClung. She clearly didn't know what she was doing when she prescribed a strong steroid for my face. read more

Cathy Ladman does a joke about getting a postcard from her gynecologist. "Do you know it's time for your annual check up?" "No," she responds. "But now my mailman does." That's not the case here. Last summer, I finally bit the bullet and had a few moles checked out. I was nervous about the results, but they called when they said they would (a week or so later) to tell me the news. This year, instead of a postcard announcing it to all, they called to remind me of needing to set up an appointment. Something about that personal touch was very nice. I had to call back to make an appointment and was able to get in quickly. For some reason I had a long wait, but they were very apologetic about it. I think they knew I had been waiting a long time, despite people coming in after me and going to the back before me. I have not met Dr. Evans, but have met Eryn McEntire both times. She is very nice and personable and has been able to answer my questions about stuff like, "what is that and how did I get it?" It's only been in the past year that I've been paying attention to my skin care, but I would recommend Evans Dermatology to those who needed it. read more

They saved my life. I had a melanoma in 2010, and they caught it early and got it out of there. Now they have me back every six months and so far so good. I feel confident that if there is a space alien on my skin that needs discovering, they will find it. Two years ago I moved to New Mexico and I haven't been able to find a dermatologist I feel confident in. So I go back to Austin for my check ups. That should be all the endorsement needed - I drive 12 hours because Evans makes me feel like they care, they always have time for me (getting an appointment with a dermatologist can be really difficult they are busy bees), and I trust them. I trust them. When you're talking about something that could kill you, that is everything right there. read more

I just spoke with Sara, business owner and Evans Derm has resolved my billing issue completely! She called me immediately and spoke with their outsourced pathology lab herself to figure out why my bill was so high. I will be paying much less now than the original bill, an amount that is reasonable and I can actually afford. I am so appreciative of Sara with her help on this issue and so glad she was able to find a solution so quickly! I've made another appointment with Evans Derm and will have my health needs taken care of. What a relief! *Reason for update below* I have received 2 bills from this business and am shocked at the price! The office visit and skin check plus mole removal was almost $500. My insurance which is through Aetna paid almost nothing of that bc my deductible is $1000 and I'm a healthy young adult with no medical problems so this was my only visit to a dr last year. So I paid their office $274 out of pocket. Today I received a 2nd bill from their out sourced pathology for $422!!!!! Are you kidding me? I called them and their fees for looking at my Mole was over $700, and less my insurance was my payment due of $422! I am beyond overwhelmed that I am paying $700 for a skin check and mole removal. I cancelled my next appointment bc who can afford that? The sad part is I really think I do need to have another skin biopsy and am really risking my health by not having it done. I am praying that there is a better place that doesn't charge this much just for a basic mole removal! And for the record, I have good insurance despite the $1,000 deductible. I pay at a 2nd tier level per month. I don't think that I should have to pay $700 out of pocket for a visit to a dr for such a basic service. I'm not blaming my insurance for being what they are, bc lets be real insurance is a huge sham and they do just about anything to make a dollar. I'm just angry bc I pay a lot of money every month for insurance then go the dr, use my insurance and the dr and lab charges so much that the discount is not even worth having. Why and how is it possible that looking at a mole costs $700? Ridiculous. My copay for an ER visit is $200, I could have cut my own mole off and then gone to the ER and spent less money. read more

If I could give this office more stars I would. After going a MedSpring clinic for a consistent rash I had on my fingers and not having results with the medication prescribed, I asked for a Dermatology referral and MedSpring suggested Evans dermatology. Let's start with how nice the office and office staff are. It genuinely appears that everyone loves their job here and want you to have a comfortable and complete visit with them. There are not a ton of products being pushed either, which i really like. The price was fabulous..I do not have any insurance and Evans was so reasonably price, I could hardly believe it. The first visit was $125 and I think the follow ups are $75 I saw Dr Lindsey Detwiler and could not have been more pleased with her. Unlike most doctors these days, she listened, explained, and didn't try to rush the visit. She new immediately what was going on with my skin and prescribed a topical steroid that has actually worked! Moreover, since I did not have insurance, they hunted around for the best price and printed me off a coupon. The price dropped from $290 to $134! Dr. Detwiler also discussed options if the medication did not work, which could be expensive but those options were as a last resort. I was also able to get an appointment quickly. Apparently its often difficult to get an appointment with a dermatologist in Austin, especially during summer time The nurse / assistant who did the initial intake was also terrific. We had forgotten to discuss one other small issue I had concern over and he called me back and offered for me to come back into the office to address this that afternoon. I feel like this is the business model to follow. They keep the prices in line with what medicaid covers, so even if you don't have insurance you can still get treatment. Walked out of that office a very happy patient. 100% recommend Dr. Detwiler. read more

While I do not doubt Dr. Evans abilities and certainly do not doubt his credentials, the over the top billing practices are well, excessive. I had a minor skin condition and the location was very convenient and I made an appointment quickly. Dr. Evans was pleasant and gave me the advise I was looking for. Five minutes. I made my co-pay and I was on my way. Two weeks later I get a bill for $348. Huh? I had very good insurance that paid $240. I called and asked what the heck?? I was told I could pay it full or go to collections. I value my credit so I made the payment. While a specialist will always charge more than a GP, over $600?! for a quick visit? read more

This is the clinic I tried when I first moved to Austin... I have always had terrible skin.. so I needed a dermatologist that was close. Luckily, I made a good choice coming here. Erin McIntyre is as sweet as can be and has been very helpful with all of the different methods we have used thus far with clearing up my skin. I also had a dark mole that appeared out of the blue. Dr. Evans was the one who did the procedure.. and he was wonderful. He made me completely comfortable and calmed me down (I was panicking about skin cancer until the day of my appointment.) The clinic is clean, the nurses are sweet, and the bills haven't been too high so far. I recommend Evans Dermatology to anyone who develops a skin condition or needs a new doctor. :) read more

Going to the doctor is not a fun thing but the staff and doctors at Evans make it a much more tolerable experience. They are very knowledgeable and helpful but I did find it to my benefit to research all possible treatments as well as their side effects. There are times that the doctor may recommend something to you and its important that you are aware of the long term effects or even something as simple as the cost of the prescriptions. My PA Lindsey was excellent and had a great bedside manner, she was thoughtful and understanding about everything. They were able to work with me on my time constraints and set up appointments to meet my needs. All in all I am happy to have them as my doctors and feel like I'm in good hands. read more

Dr. Evans is a great dermatologist, as our his facilities and staff. Since the office is relatively new, everything is modern. His staff always dress in matching scrubs which I think is cute. The nurses are thorough and actually read past comments in the computer system. But what really matters is that Dr. Evans makes you feel comfortable to ask questions, even though he is rarely off his schedule (in my many experiences he saw me late only once). I think this might be to not overbooking appointments, which I appreciate since my time is valuable too. read more

After many failed attempts in treating my adult acne issues by way of dermatologists, I thought maybe one last shot with Evans derm. Nope, it was the same thing right away with my only option being Acutane, which isn't an option due to the major side effects, previous failed treatments and ridiculous expense . i went in for a out patient out of my pocket procedure, to get some moles removed. I asked about one on my face when they take it off with the others. I was told that would have to be a biopsy and I replied, I'll do that the next visit. 3 weeks later I get a bill for a co-pay for $40. I called to inquire since I paid $250 out of pocket. Since I asked the question pertaining to the mole on my face which I thought was included with the other moles, by asking that question, they charged insurance and charged me a $40 co-pay. Not happy at all. This was a sneaky thing to do. When Up front I was told the total cost will be $250, I didn't know by inquiring what was covered with my procedure also would incur another charge. and I'll probably have to go back, because the moles I paid to be removed, most of them still remain. On a good point. The doctors and staff overall are nice. The low score is for their sneaky practices. read more

I love Dr. Evans and the clinic - they are outstanding. And let me tell you, I've seen a ton of dermatologists - and most are not as good as the folks here. As you can guess from my avatar, I'm a fair girl with red hair and blue eyes, pretty much the worst combination to have when you live in sunny Texas. I have been getting freckles and moles taken off since I was in my early 20s because there was concern over skin cancer - so I have tried a lot of dermatologists both here and in California. Since the first time I went to see Dr. Evans and his staff, they have been professional and courteous. They still give you the "you need to stay out of the sun" lecture, but it's not judgemental. They understand how hard it is to completely stay out of the sun, so they give practical tips. I also have have had to get moles removed and the staff made me feel very calm during the procedure. I've also gone to Dr. Evans for a couple cosmetic procedures - again, his staff made me feel calm and comfortable. The staff is also very upfront with the costs, the pros and cons of the procedure so that you can feel very confident once you have decided. I've referred 2 people in the last 2 weeks to Dr. Evans ... if I send my friends, you should try them out too :) read more

I've been extremely happy with Evans Dermatology. Skin problems run in my family, so it was time to find a dermatologist in Austin. Evans has been a great choice. I've been there for a regular skin check, fungal infection, mole biopsies, and mole removals. Dr. McClung has a great energy---calm, friendly, and explains things clearly. The other staff I've interacted with are much the same. It makes for a very pleasant environment. My highest praise for Evans goes to the financing people. Then waited an additional 25 minutes to be seen by the dermatologist without being acknowledged. I finally walked out to ask the techs to discuss the wait. Had I known about the 45 minute wait, I would not have scheduled an appointment when I did. My wait time was longer than my actual visit. Very inconvenient. read more

I was sent to this group by my GP for a strange condition on my arms. I bruise extremely easily and my skin is so thin it tears if I bump into a doorknob. One doctor thought I had been beaten. This was a little funny/awkward when your 6 foot 8 partner is sitting in the room with you. Even though this was not the case, kudos to a doctor trying to recognize possible signs of domestic violence. So to prevent any further misunderstandings and find out what is really going on I went to Evans Dermatology. Dr. McClung enters the room takes one look at my arms and knows immediately what it is. However, she ordered lab tests to make sure she covered all the bases. I decided not to wear makeup that day and asked if she would look at the spots on my face. She found one that didn't look right and scheduled me for a follow up. I have been back several times for this spot (freezing, reassessment, biopsy and a whole body check). This shows her willingness to go beyond your original referral's focus. She is sharp, quick (doesn't waste your time), professional, attentive and efficient. The medical and office staff have been top-notch too! I have yet to wait more than 10 minutes in the general waiting room. I feel I am in good hands with Dr. McClung! Update: My biopsy found precancerous cells and I have had the appropriate medical treatment. This problem would not have been found if Dr. McClung had not been so thorough! She is superb! read more

Skincare has become an obsession for me the last few years & I wanted to try dermaplaning. I have a little bit of eczema that can be touchy so I went in hopeful but prepared for the worst, incase I had a reaction. My esthetician, Lindsay Randall was everything I could have asked for. Not only did she take her time explaining the process but she seemed to really devote her full attention into my treatment. As for the results, I'm stunned! FOUR strikes against me in the eyes of a specialist.Female.Overforty.Overweight and mystery symptoms no one can pin down.They hate that.I frustrate specialists and in return they often frustrate and anger me. I did not have these issues with Dr.Jack.He took me on time and he took me seriously.He is courteous,knowledgeable and easy going.I was not condescended to and I felt at ease asking questions. If I had one note for him or ANY doctor it would just be to ask one time before leaving the room "any other questions or concerns?" It allows you to just run through everything in your head one more time and maybe ask that one.lingering question. Facility is lovely and the staff nice and well trained. This place has plenty of good reviews. They don't need mine but I just wanted to give my 2 cents. If they keep doing things the way they are they will be a staple in dermatology in Texas for many years to come.Well done. read more

My experience with Evans Dermatology has been amazing, they are extremely caring and knowledgable. Throughout the last several years we have seen each of the doctors and PA's numerous times and every time we have received prompt, caring answers to all our questions. I recently married and I consulted with Dr. Amy McClung for Botox and Radiesse...obviously, this was an important time in my life and I wanted my skin to look flawless for my wedding photos, Dr. McClung did a fabulous job and I looked completely natural but more youthful and refreshed!
