I went into CareNow Urgent Care - McCreless in San Antonio, honestly expecting the usual rushed outnumbered visit, but that was not my experience at all because of the NP. I was fortunate enough to be seen by Nurse Practitioner Brunink, and she was truly exceptional. From the moment she walked in, her bedside manner stood out--she was kind, patient, and took the time to really listen. She didn't make me feel like just another number, and her thoroughness gave me confidence that I was in good hands. She explained everything clearly and made sure all my concerns were addressed before I left. After 25 years in the military, I've encountered a wide range of medical providers, and I can honestly say I wish I had come across more like her throughout those years. That level of care, attention, and professionalism makes a lasting impact. If you're hesitant about urgent care visits like I usually am, this location--and especially Nurse Practitioner Brunink--might just change your perspective.

Our surgeon, Dr. Nillson, scheduled us for surgery at Victory Medical Center (formerly Innova) on the southeast side of town. The hospital itself is very new-looking and organized. We spoke to a lady in Admitting and she walked us through all the paperwork while being personable and basically calming our nerves. When the time came for my husband to get the gown on, we were greeted by a sweet RN (I'm so bad with names.. sorry!) who drew blood and also tried to relax us. Next, the good doc came in and explained what was going to happen and how long he'd be out for. I think he could tell how thick the room felt with our worries because he made a few jokes which eased us a bit. After they took him away, drugged up to high heaven I sat in the waiting room ready for the 2 - 3 hour wait. The lady from admitting came to check up on me twice and asked if I wanted anything to drink. Such a small gesture but really made all the difference to me! Two hours later, he was all ready. I went back where the post-op nurse was watching his vitals. She explained to me what he could eat, what he couldn't and could do in great detail which was super helpful because I felt slightly lost. Finally, when we left, she handed me a card which thanked up for choosing Victory Medical Center and everyone we had met that day, from admitting to post-op nurse had signed a little something. Altogether now: Awww!

Upon arrival, I waited in the lobby for more than two hours before being triaged. During that time, I vomited blood four times. I informed registration staff each time my symptoms worsened. While they acknowledged me, no one alerted a nurse or physician. The only communication I received during this extended wait occurred when I personally approached the registration desk. Nurses and clinical staff did not proactively provide updates, check on my condition, or offer reassurance. No one communicated directly with me about delays, next steps, or the severity of my symptoms until one nurse later addressed me in a dismissive manner that felt as though my concerns were being minimized rather than evaluated. While waiting, another patient loudly discussed on speaker phone that doctors believed he might have pneumonia or COVID. He was not asked to wear a mask or take any precautions. He also played a video with explicit sexual content and profanity in the waiting room. The environment felt chaotic and unsafe. Because the waiting room was full and I was feeling increasingly anxious and physically ill, I briefly stepped outside the sliding glass doors for space. A nurse who had performed my EKG and lab work told me I was not permitted to sit there, despite the lack of available seating inside. She indicated she would draw additional blood in the waiting area, which did not seem appropriate given the proximity to other patients. When I requested that my IV be removed, I was taken into a side room. The nurse appeared distracted, singing aloud while working. She then reprimanded me for placing an item in the wrong trash container and announced to the triage nurse that I was leaving. Several patients later told me they could clearly hear staff discussing me as I exited, including a comment from a nurse stating she "hated patients like me." As I left the facility, I vomited blood again outside the ER entrance. No staff member checked on my condition. My experience was marked by prolonged delays during a potentially serious medical situation, lack of communication, limited infection control measures, and unprofessional conduct. I sought emergency care hoping to feel safe, heard, and appropriately treated. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

I even had to go into Dr. Saloum's office twice to watch his staff forward my info to surgeons as it would sit on the desk for days....even a week once. Initially, the hodgkin's lymphoma was only in my chest...by the time I started treatment, it was in my neck too. The amazing staff at the START Center for Cancer Care had called the office DAILY for exactly a week and Dr. Saloum's office would not answer. One time I called and the receptionist said they had just spoken with the START center and sent all my information over.....the next morning, Ann from the START center called me to say she hadn't been able to get ahold of anyone at Saloum's office. If I hadn't been persistent, and my boss hadn't let me leave work to watch Dr. Saloum's staff do their job, who knows if I'd have made it to treatment in time. They were completely indifferent to my situation. The staff and Dr. Saloum literally doesn't care that you're dying. Go. Elsewhere.

About a week later I received a rejection notice from my insurance because the DR. office did not respond to their request for more information. They e-mailed a copy and when I reviewed it I noticed that my PSA was elevated. I made an appointment with a Urologist. A biopsy was done and a diagnosis of prostate cancer was made. I have since had surgery to remove the prostate, To date, 2-21-2019, I have yet to receive a call from Dr. Saloum's office informing me of an abnormal lab result. If you are a current patient at this practice, RUN. Find another Dr. before you have a serious health problem because you will never here from these people if you do. If you are considering this practice as your primary care, keep looking. These people do not care about your health. They are just there for the money.
