I went to this UC Davis clinic in Folsom for the first time two weeks ago. It is a new building, very clean and with beautiful artwork lining the walls. I met with a dermatology nurse practitioner, who was very welcoming and very knowledgeable concerning my issue. The medical summary that was entered in My Chart was very detailed and a referral to a specialist was issued the same day. Excellent service.! read more

Went here first my Annual physical. Dr Nguyen has been my primary care Dr. for over 3 years now. I had few concerns which I brought up during the visit. My problems went into deaf ears. I was given sn appointment to discuss my complaints. This location is not LGBTQ+ friendly! I happened to be wearing a pride shirt when I went in for my mammogram and I got stares and dirty looks from all the staff. The whole time I was waiting, they were staring holes through me. The nurse who took me back to change was very rude to me (she got mad when I didn't know which way to turn and she practically threw my gown at me). Then, the technician was brutal in the way she handled me during the procedure. I've had many mammograms and this one was harsher and took longer than is ever necessary. I was shaking when I left. My br3asts were bruised and sore for two weeks after. I know what hate feels like, but even if it wasn't about that, it is still unacceptable to be treated this way at a medical appointment where you are already vulnerable and exposed. I'll also add that among the waiting room chairs they have blocked off for social distancing is the only bariatric chair in the waiting room. It is on a wall by itself, and yet there is a sign saying don't sit there. I just don't know why a medical establishment doesn't have a basic understanding of accessibility. Bottom line: Str8 or g@y, just don't go here. The staff are nasty people. read more

Before people go into the health care profession, they should ask themselves if they fit this line of work, caring for people!? My best guess is that Lourdes Grano did not ask herself that question at all. I never came across anyone so uncaring, unwilling to lift a finger to help with simple things. People go to their health care provider because they are going through something physical and are already in pain or discomfort, and the last thing they need is a person that makes the process slow and difficult for them, instead of making it easier as possible. Maybe finishing her shift knowing that she helped someone to the best of her abilities or the abilities that the job calls for should be her goal working in this field! I'm wondering why, with so many bad reviews of this particular doctor. Even with a review on this yelp page with her named in a negative review. "Dr."Kelly Ann Bernadette Why is this person still employed as a doctor at this clinic? I transferred from Mercy medical group to UCD Health in search of answers. Why am I disabled at such a young age? That's the general concern of every issue I've had. I am legally disabled. I've been disabled since I was 18, now being 30. My medical problems began at the age of 3. I exhausted my options at Mercy Medical Group. I was always in search of answers. I was never able to be diagnosed with any condition, I was only treated for the symptoms of what my illness was causing. After years of this kind of experience of MMG my PCP at Mercy recommended I seek answers at UCD Health. In a true, genuine search for answers, I decided to switch to UCD Health. I chose Dr.Griffin, a doctor within UCD Health at the Folsom location. Dr.Griffin, whom is no longer with UCD, is an amazing PCP. I began my first few appointments, skeptical, but open. She made referrals, ordered different scans and work ups to be completed. She showed a genuine concern for what I was dealing with. I attended all appointments, I am up to 13 different specialists I currently work with at UCD Health. I can say that I have never been in such a medical environment to where I felt the staff truly had an interest and concern for my unknown illness. I continued this journey for some time. I continued to be diagnosed with diseases and conditions. I was placed on several medications in hopes that I would be able to resume to normal life. After doctor Griffin left this practice, my case was absorbed by Dr. Kelly Ann Bernadette. I attended a physical clinic visit to go over all the treatments, history that my case involves. I was never shown any care or inquisitive behavior from this doctor. She recommended I do google searches on my complaints. While I have a list of diagnosis that are being treated. Lists of symptoms that have yet to be reviewed or studied by a doctor. Scans with diagnosis that had not been recognized for evaluation. Any concern was dismissed or brushed off. At this point, my mental health and physical health started to decline. I have made several appointments with this doctor, almost on a monthly basis to continue my search for answers. After my case was absorbed by Ms Bernadette, I was never treated for any of my existing issues. I was never referred to any specialist for a further work up. I have also noticed any and all notes that have been placed in my medical records are not only incorrect but fraudulent. I was allowed to sit at home for months in a state to where I could not live my life. My year old son could not be picked up. I could not do any basic task at any day. Making now my mental health suffer. I brought these concerns to my PCP, who told me she could not help me. She told me she could not be my doctor anymore and proceeded to scream at me in this small clinic space. Having 2 disabilities that effect my movement. Drop foot, and DDD. I was truly scared. I didn't know what she would do to me. I couldn't stand, nor protect myself. She screamed at me that because of my concerns, nobody would ever help me. She continued this behavior for 15 minutes. She continued to elaborate her opinion of who I am as a person after only seeing me on one other occasion. In the midst of her outburst she stated,"the appointment was not going to end well" I also have ear issues so bad that I have had 2 sets of tubes placed and removed from my eardrum. Leaving damage to my eardrum. Which causes hearing loss and sensitivity to certain noises. She continued to scream at me as I cried. Balling my eyes out. I was confused, scared, depressed. I can't make this up. I have also lost almost all of my beautiful hair due to my illness. I wear a bandana to cover up the embarrassment. I tried to dull the noise by placing my bandana on my bald head. Pulling the fabric over my ears. I am truly scared that the injury to my pre existing diagnosis are now irreparable due to not being treated for almost a year. Having every concern dismissed. Being belittled and lied about. I am truly sad this has been the case with this person, and for all these other patients who have had to suffer similar events with this "doctor". I have a high respect for UCD Heath, as to I am also a medical professional. I hope this was a bad apple in the midst. I received wonderful help from the Patient Relations Analyst. I look forward to working with them. I look forward to continuing my treatment with all other 12 of my doctors with UCD Health. In search for answers. I still have faith that there will be someone within UCD that can help me after the 12 years of appointments I've attended. Please take action. Not sure why my review was removed, but I have no issue addressing this once more! Had to get my labs done - the ladies at the front desk were kind! The phlebotomist was extremely rude and unpleasant to be around. I cannot believe such a miserable person like this chose to work with other people, she sure doesn't seem to enjoy it. She spoke to me as if I was a child, when I was just clarifying if I needed to be fasting or not. Then she got irritated because she couldn't find my veins and tried to make it seem like it was my fault I have deep veins? She ended up pricking me a couple times and then got upset at me when I didn't unclench my hand right away. Anyways, I didn't catch her name but she's around 65, large, and has sad pink hair. Here's the damage she did to my arm, I've never had someone be so rough on my arm - and I get my blood drawn pretty often. So she's rude, unkind, and poor at her job - why do you keep her UC Davis? It's impossible to get help here. They don't care about mental health issues. They either withhold medication or they will give you medication without explaining the side effects. Honestly, I've had the worst experiences here, and I'm afraid to get treatment now. I do not recommend this clinic. It's also extremely expensive, even with "good" insurance. read more

This review is targeted towards their billing processes. When a coding error is made it's simply your word against theirs and, of course, theirs will always win. $600 for a prescription to get topical acne ointment for a 4 min doctor visit is hardly what I would expect. Coding was done as a "serious" infection with an office visit between 45-60 minutes. This is clearly not the case as I have video evidence that the office visit lasted no more than 4 minutes and the case was minor. Unfortunately, there's no way to dispute this without taking them to court. read more

He had a severe injury with his ankle, was taken to the emergency in an ambulance...was given a coup,e of pain pills to get him through till he saw a doctor....His main doctor was not available so he went to a Dr. Bevererly who told him he certainly need pain meds but wasn't authorized to prescribe them and said she would rush a referral..(great rush, still waiting, 8 days later)... My son automatically transferred to Dr El-Qousy as he is in same office. Very weird, Dr El-Qousy refused to trust any record my son had with his previous doctor (same office, same health system). Denied me service. I've gone here for over 10 years, but they're denying me service just because I have Medi-Cal now. For awhile they even let me pay out of pocket, because I wanted to keep my doctor and I knew I'd be getting better insurance eventually. Yet today, 2 days before an important appointment, they decided to cut me off. Apparently they let you pay out of pocket until they find out you have Medi-Cal. Then you're blacklisted. Sounds crazy but I managed to get the lady to admit I could have kept my appointment if I had never verified my insurance. The first lady even tried telling me it would be illegal to take me, which was obviously BS and the second lady apologized for that. So now I'll never see my doctor again. He was pleasant enough, but during my SCHEDULED visit, he left the room mid conversation, then after coming back started a whole different line of convo. No continuity of care for sure. Not worth my time whatsoever. I called to make a GYN appt and was told I needed to get a referral through a primary care doctor. They were nice enough to get me scheduled soon and with a doctor who did both primary care and GYN care. When I arrived they were pretty prompt bringing me back. When I got back they sent in a student to get some basic information on why I was there and what I wanted to get out of the appointment. She actually listened to me and seemed to care about my health. We spent over an hour talking about the difference issues that had brought me in. BUT when the ACTUAL DOCTOR came in to review and help, they told me to just go somewhere else. I was honestly shocked that I had spent so much effort and time trying to get an appointment with the right provider and whatnot, yet I was literally refused medical attention. They didn't do any physical exam or give me any of the referrals I had asked for. I honestly felt robbed. I then had to go to a completely different provider who figured out that I had a very easily solved issue and got help much later then I should have. I must recognize Dr Christian Sebat a Pulmonary Specialist Dr who saw me on a whim at the Folsom Clinic. HE IS AWESOME! This Dr took time to go over my medical history, my concerns, my fears, etc. He has a wonderful bedside manner and made sure I understood exactly what medications where better for me and why they were of importance. He reiterated my maintenance plan without making me feel like there was no hope and just as important HE LISTENED to me. Not once did I feel rushed or hurried. Today I was in for a fasting blood draw. Due to a really awful experience as a child I have a lot of anxiety around getting blood draws. I am also seven weeks pregnant so I was dealing with feeling a bit queasy to begin with. I was waiting outside when they called, and my husband, a firefighter and EMT, told the lab tech that he was going to come in with me because I am anxious about blood draws and being in early pregnancy I was feeling a bit ill. He said the moment he mentioned that he regretted it. He told me the lab tech began rolling her eyes and acting rather exasperated. In the past, UC Davis lab techs have been wonderful. When I walked into the lab room I could tell something was going on. The lab tech began belittling me for being "afraid" of the blood draw and telling me, "Just wait until you have that baby-it will be a lot worse." I'm wondering, "Really, how does she know that? Is she an obstetrician? Is she MY obstetrician?" She kept going on about how awful my childbirth will be, she was in labor 16 hours, a blood draw was NOTHING in comparison, how I was "really in for it" blah blah blah. I have a policy of not listening to anybody's horrible childbirth stories because they are so unhelpful and irrelevant, but I felt really vulnerable and uncomfortable about setting a boundary with this unprofessional woman because of already being anxious about the blood draw and I was afraid she would retaliate against me. She told me, "Uh-oh, you have really tiny veins." Another unhelpful, unprofessional, and unneeded statement. I tried to tell her that I was "being a baby" about the blood draw, that I had some bad experiences around them and that I have residual anxiety. She immediately shot back that she didn't think I was being a baby, but wait until child birth. She kept going on ad nauseam. In my experience women who do this type of thing in the supermarket checkout line are boorish and want attention. Their stories are usually over dramatized and easily dismissed. However, as a somewhat captive patient (there was a needle in my arm and I had waited over a month for this lab appointment-they're next to impossible to get) I was fairly limited in my ability to tell her to stop. The other piece is that as a phlebotomist acting under the umbrella of UC Davis, the moment she began making predictive statements about my upcoming childbirth she stepped recklessly outside of her scope of practice into the realm of medical diagnosis. Was there something in my chart or medical history that I was not yet privy to that she was talking about? Does a phlebotomy license make her able to diagnose that I will have a difficult labor, because that's exactly what this woman did in her capacity as a UC Davis Medical Center employee. I've had nothing but problems like this with UC Davis and despite the huge hassle, I'm switching to another doctor. read more

I have been working with the office for two months to schedule an appointment. They have lost and shredded paperwork. Not sure if they ever actually checked the insurance what they are telling me is totally in contradiction to what the insurance company is saying, then didn't call me back when they decided I could not be see in the office. I had paperwork resubmitted to them by other doctor's offices, insurance has called and faxed them directly. I have called and spoken to a few different departments, still nothing. It is unfortunate that in the area of healthcare one more totally unprofessional operation exists. The doctors might be great, but clients can't actually get to them because the office staff in incompetent. Hate this place!! All of us Davis medical is twisted!! I've been coming here for two years since I quit smoking in 2015. I was placed on Wellbutrin to help with the brain fog after several months of feeling out of it, my body started to take a dive I began experiencing muscular pain through my Boyd on a regular biases so I kept going to my dr for help, I got sent to almost every specialist you can think of they ran countless test on me including testing me for MS All within the UC Davis system, until they decided I had fibromyalgia after their medication didn't work they put me on more pain medication in which I never took.... I stoped taking the Wellbutrin because I didn't want to be on two different kinds of anti depressants. Once I discontinued the Wellbutrin the pain went away. I continued on this new medication for about 5months and felt very tired and down all the time so I decided to add the Wellbutrin back and the pain came back instantly. It was appreciably to me that the medication had caused this pain for the last two years not some sort of fibromyalgia... I have not been getting off the second medication I use to run 6-8 miles daily and now I can barely go one and have gained over 40 lbs. I'm sicker then I have ever been in my life and for what? I went to a second medical group yesterday and they agreed this group ran every test possible other then the very first one they should have!! The one that would have clearly showed the first medication was the problem and it was a common problem at that!! They are the reason so many people can not trust their drs anymore they want your money and will make you sicker just to get it!! read more

This location is extra convenient. The staff is so nice and helpful, and they remember you. The location is clean, and they usually have good movies playing in the waiting room. I travel out of my way to visit this office for myself and my kids. We've been seeing doctors in this office for more than 10 years. Dr O'Malley is my kid's doctor. He's amazing. He's made personal calls to me about things with my boys. He's been really good at remembering the nickname for one of my boys and how to properly pronounce my other son's name (that never happens). Dr Frank is another fantastic pedestrian. My kids have seen him at times when Dr O'Malley is unavailable. I'd highly recommend both. I myself have seen many doctors at this office. I was only disappointed by one doctor, but he's no longer there. My current doctor is Dr Kelly. I was lucky for her to take me on because she was already full, but she saw that I don't come in much so she accepted me. read more

Never had a problem with this UC Davis Med Clinic in Folsom. Appointments scheduled with ease, they email a reminder via MyChart and they even send a text out. The check in has always been a breeze. Show up 15min prior to appointment time and have all your insurance cards and paper work ready (sounds like a given but you'd be surprised how many people show up unorganized or late for an appointment). My doctor spends appropriate time with me and I never feel like she is rushing to get through to the next appointment (reminds me of how NPs and PAs are). She's sometimes 5 or so minutes late but ok, like I said she makes sure she answers your question appropriately and addressing all concerns. I've also been to radiology at this location and they too have been very quick at getting your XR after it has been ordered by the MD. Just recently Olga the Rad. Tech was able to fit me in before her lunch break. This clinic works really well together from what I have seen and experienced. The only thing I wish was better is the parking lot. There are a few businesses surrounding the clinic and parking always seems crowded no matter what time you go. read more

The lab is slow as can be. You will wait forever even when they tell you you're next in line. The xray attendant is efficient. My doctor is Dr. Don Nguyen. He won't do a darn thing for you, but maybe will refer you to a specialist that will take two months to get an appt. with. His profile says, "A great physician solves problems not by deploying multiple tests and medications but by listening to his/her patients." Like he says, he doesn't want to do anything to help you. And as far as encouraging a healthy lifestyle. He is really overweight himself. Don't waste your time with this doctor. read more

I have been a patient at UCD Folsom for over 15 years. Over that time frame my doctor has rarely been on time for my appointments, with waiting times that are typically 10 to 30 minutes. And when I do have an appointment the office visit is usually no more than 15 minutes in duration. I can certainly relate to the comments posted on 12/18/14 and 10/12/15. In the past my doctor was able to treat or at least look at certain medical conditions in the office at Folsom. These days my doctor is quick to refer me out to a specialist downtown. The last time I was referred downtown the doctor charged me nearly $500 for a 15 minute consultation. He didn't even perform a medical procedure on me. My insurance covered $125 and I got stuck with the balance of the bill. My overall experience over the past couple of years is that UCD Folsom is more interested in me as a patient with good insurance rather than my health in general. In closing I would like to add that I am a retiree on a fixed income from social security. I am comfortable financially but did not receive an annual increase this year in social security benefits. On the other hand, UCD medical professionals are extremely well paid for the services they perform and their salaries are public knowledge and can be accessed on the internet. It isn't uncommon to see medical professionals within the UCD system receiving generous annual salary increases of 10 to 20 percent with many of them having doubled their annual salaries over the past 10 years while the quality of service has diminished. I have been very disappointed in the quality of service provided by UCD Folsom over the past couple of years. It's no wonder that a four year college education is no longer affordable to the average working class family. read more

Horrible. Every experience I have had here was awful. Recently I went in with a sever injury for an urgent care visit. My appointment was for 3:30. I sat in the room until 4:40 with no end in sight. My pain was a 9++. I had to leave. The nurse said she told the DR who didn't even bother to explain why she was over an hour late with an urgent care visit. And I changed providers. Spare yourself the misery of expending them to be medical professionals. read more

Although this location is somewhat convenient, this Medical Group leaves something to be desired. Because the group houses all services such as labs, X-ray, ultra sound, etc, they are very generous with their referrals to their own profit(up selling services). Make sure you know your co pay because they have over charged me repeatedly. In addition, they have billed for services that my insurance covered. When it asked the office for assistance, they stated that I would need to call the number on the bill to take care of it, they can't help. My overall experience has been that they are more interested in me as a patient for my good insurance reimbursement than they are in my health. My opinion is that they might be competent but they certainly don't make you feel they are when you visit them. read more
