She kept assuring me that they would be in touch in a couple of days, but I never received a phone call from them. They ended up messing around with us for so long that my daughter had to go to college without getting the work done that needed to be done. Sad that now we have to find care in another state.

Third call - I got to the office an hour before the appointment, so I called to see if it was okay to come in early. They told us no apt by name or no referring doctor information. Really? I thought I was going crazy so I called the referring doctor. They confirmed that they had sent the information to the office. Fourth call on the day of the apt - they said we could come in at 4pm but the apt was for 3pm. I went to the office anyway because they told me to. After analyzing what happened, I have concluded that the staff made a mess of scheduling an apt, but no apology whatsoever. If you are doing an apt for a patient, please log it into your system while you are doing it. I don't see you in the system on the day of the apt is not acceptable. Incompetent staff. They wanted a referral so I sent it to the email address they gave me. First time "Oahu" was misspelled. Second time "surgery" was missing a "y". They called the referring doctor without asking me to verify the email address they gave me to send. I just resent the email the third time and it went through. The staff can't spell and can't do their jobs properly. Sigh. I hope the oral surgeon is not like the staff I dealt with. Overall, I am not impressed with this office at all. I am so glad I went through this before the actual oral surgery for my son. I firmly believe that things happen for a reason. The doctor asked me to delete the review bc it will deteimentally affect the business. If I were the business owner, I would be grateful to get good and bad feedback and improve accordingly based on the feedback. Why couldn't this be addressed when he was talking to me instead of asking me to remove the review? Finally, the office manager said she would check with the insurance company and send me an updated sheet with the cost the next day. It has been two weeks and nothing has been sent to us. I didn't expect too much because I knew this would be the result.

TLDR: Tooth cracked and infected with no way to salvage it. Total ~4 months between oral surgery…read moreand regular dentist, now I have my new fake implanted tooth! PAIN FREE under local anesthesia. COST: With my dental insurance for EVERYTHING was about ~$2200-2400 (forgot the exact amount) for doctor kitamura's portion (extraction and screw implant) , and another $1500-$2000 for my regular dentist (the crown) portion. too lazy to look back at my statements Disclaimer: This is only MY OWN experience and situation. Everyone's case will probably be different. CONSULT WITH UR surgeon/DENTIST!! HISTORY: My gum was frequently getting painful, red, swollen. Finally went to dentist, got an X-ray where they said my tooth was cracked at the root, causing infection literally almost to the point of periodontal disease. Hoping I could save my tooth I went to a root canal specialist where they told me I had no other choice but to extract whole tooth and get implant. Started googling the process and ofc getting mixed experience, some in particular saying they had to get general anesthesia cause they can't handle pain so they recommend getting put to sleep. EXTRACTION/PARKING: Free public parking for his pearl ridge & windward location! Absolutely no issues. Met with Dr. Kitamura. My main concern was pain. Told him I have a very low pain threshold. Dr kindly reassured me that patients generally feel little to no pain, just mostly pressure. Answered all my questions and literally my whole process was pain free (just pressure like he said) and I only did local anesthesia cause general would be more costly. I only took 500mg Tylenol once after the procedure cause I was worried, but literally had NO PAIN. Side note: I do recommend bringing a list of questions and WRITE THEM DOWN, because doctors will sometimes ask "do you have any questions?" And u won't have them at the moment but they come to you as soon as u get home. A week later went for my check up, then another check up for my final assessment. Thankfully my implant was good but just not fun living with a gap in my mouth for months. Overall I would most definitely recommend oral surgery with doctor kitamura! Office staff was nice as well! It was DEFINITELY a very costly procedure for me but I learned now how important oral health is and prayyyyyyy I will never have to go through this again.

I had the first pain free dental procedure at Kailua Dental with Dr. Castro. I didn't even feel the needle or the anesthetic. There. Was. No. Pain. I had to have an expansive filling removed and replaced and felt no pain. I keep repeating it because it amazes me so much to not feel pain at the dentist. Dr. Castro was also great about talking through everything that would be done and asking permission about doing things. The office, as a whole, is awesome, with friendly receptionists, kind hygienists, tvs, and comfy chairs. I will never go anywhere else.

It felt like they were just trying to upsell me. Then I came here, and wow night and day difference. Dr. Dunk is amazing! He really knows what he's doing. I guess you could say I have some "unique" teeth another dentist told me I needed to see a gum specialist, but Dr. Dunk took one look and figured out it was actually a baby tooth still attached to my adult tooth. Something super rare, and even though he'd never seen it before, he was confident, explained everything clearly, and handled it like a pro. He saved me time, money, and unnecessary procedures. I felt like I was in great hands the entire time. Highly recommend this dental office if you're looking for honest, skilled, and professional care!
