After attempting to find a dentist that could help, I went into Michael Sakuda's office, and he took me in without hesitation. Both he and his staff were commendable. Expect long wait times and very limited availability for appointments…read more After 2 years and 10 months of wearing braces, the day to remove them finally came for my daughter today. We had already gone in 2 months earlier for a check up to ensure she was ready for removal. But for some reason it was only on the day of removal that Dr. Morita noticed a GAP between the canine teeth. He proceeded to tell my daughter that her teeth were smaller than normal, which caused the gap. WHAT? I'm no expert, but I'm pretty sure her teeth have been the same size throughout the 3 years! Prior to the removal appointment, I had already decided to change orthodontists so we proceeded with the removal. I requested Dr. Morita to call me as I wanted to get further clarification as to why the gap was not identified earlier. I also wanted to personally linform him of my reasons for leaving his practice. Instead of calling me (is it too much to ask for 5 minutes?)....he sent me an email and offered to put the braces back on. WHAT? I had planned to leave his practice quietly, but his lack of taking accountability is unacceptable. Advice to all - Choose your orthodontist wisely....it is a LONG and expensive commitment.

I chose braces for my treatment, and they explained that it would take some time to adjust in the beginning. During my first month, I called once or twice because I was getting cold sores. Even though it wasn't an emergency and was just my mouth adjusting to the wires, they still made time to fit me into their busy schedule and reassured me everything was fine. That extra care really stood out to me. They didn't have to bring me in, but since day one they've gone above and beyond to make sure I felt comfortable. Now I'm four months into treatment with no cold sores, no wire issues, and no complications at all. I've been to both their Aiea and Honolulu locations, and the service has been excellent at each. 10/10 recommend!
