It's located on the inside of a mall, but there's not even a sign that specifies that AMC is there. Just know that once you've passed by Trader Joe's and start walking to Ralph's, you've gone too far. As for parking, I think on the lower level, which is also hard to pinpoint from the main road (depending on where you're driving from, I've been told there's a parking garage). For me, I just ended up parking near the Trader Joes's/PetSmart side, which offered plentiful and more manageable parking. Aside from that, I totally understand what everyone means by the odd parking situation now lol. Once I found the theatre, it wasn't a bad experience. Staff was friendly, bathrooms, for the most part were clean. The inside felt a little outdated, but the reclining seats were comfortable! Keep in mind that they WILL make some loud squeaky noises if you're trying to adjust the positions mid-movie. I'm not sure if I'll be back to this AMC specifically, but I can't say I had a completely terrible experience either.

At this point, I'm not sure if the AC is actually broken or if Cinepolis is simply not prioritizing the repair. If you're planning to see a movie during these hot summer months, I'd recommend calling ahead to confirm the AC is working in your theater. And don't be fooled by the freezing lobby--the individual theaters can be a completely different story.

Service by the staffers was just ok. It would have been better if there was a manager onsite, because there were some kids running around the lobby without parental supervision. I like kids playing but not in a lobby with marble floors, where there can be a potential slip and fall and some kid hurts themselves. A manager or some staffer should have some oversight. The concessions guy who helped me with the kiosk which inconveniently froze its screen must have done this before because he fixed it. Afterwards, I witnessed him washing his hands before getting my bottled water, I did thank him for his help. The movie: Odyssey had received great reviews, for director, actors and actresses, storyline and the cinematography. I enjoyed the many geographical scenes, which were spectacular on the 70mm screen, along with Dolby sound system. Was disappointed that this theater doesn't offer a more elevated luxury experience by offering better food and drinks service with a press of a button. The IPIC theater in Westwood Los Angeles does and IPIC theaters throughout the LA county, even if it costs more, the convenience and service during a 3 hour movie can justify the costs. With so many high end retail shops opening here at UTC, there are lots of people who are willing to splurge $$$$ for a better movie theater experience. This AMC theater at UTC La Jolla is not bad can be improved.

The employee still apologized for the wait, even though it was something completely outside of her control, and then went above and beyond by giving me a large popcorn for the short wait. I genuinely felt like we waited a very appropriate amount of time, so that gesture really stood out to me. It showed how much they care about making sure customers have a great experience. The theater itself was huge, the seats were incredibly comfortable, and the parking lot was super easy and convenient. Everything about the visit was smooth and enjoyable. I truly had the time of my life here and left feeling very impressed. They do not divulge their sound system either, only that it's "high-end". The sound could definitely use better balance. -Mentioned love seats are very apparent upon booking now, making selection easy with no confusion. The theaters do cater to them so if you're in a group, you'll feel far from them. -Try as we might to pay in person, we could not avoid the service fee applied to all sales. However, there were less than ten people in the theater. So, keep that in mind as well. I ordered poke nachos, a popcorn, and a soda. Pretty simple order, right? My "host" brought out the popcorn + drink pretty swiftly. The popcorn tasted stale, just like another time I'd visited. Even though I'm pretty sure their 1:30 movies are their first showing. About halfway through the movie, I pressed the call button because I still hadn't received my nachos. The host said, "They might be ready now. Let me check." Translation: "I forgot them." That was pretty annoying. Especially as this is the third time something like this has occurred at The Lot. And I've only been three times in total. Luckily, the popcorn was free because it was my birthday, which I had to remind the host twice before he tried charging me. Do not order it unless you enjoy stale popcorn. Not sure if I'm getting old, or if theaters are getting louder... but there were a few parts that I just had to cover my ears. It was waaay too loud. The previous movies I saw at a theater were not as loud as this. Not sure if the soundtrack was mixed louder than others or if this theater was just loud. Matt Damon and Anne Hathaway did great jobs as Odysseus and Penelope and I thought the cast was very good. There were quite a few people in the theater and the ticket. I don't think I've ever been to AMC that's themed, so that was cool. I didn't get any food so I can't say anything about that but the theater we walked into was a bit old, which is OK. It's also bigger than I expected. It even had a downstairs area. The rocking chairs were also OK, not my favorite. We were seated right behind a guard rail, and I think that's the only way to enjoy the rocking chairs AMC. My favorite thing about this place was the restroom. I appreciated how big and clean the restrooms were. I especially loved that they offer free tampons and pads!
